Need a motherboard for E8400

I recently purchased an E8400 and now i need a decent motherboard to support it. Anyone have any ideas ? It needs to fit the Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro and have an IDE port. My price range is around $100-$150. I was looking at the Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3L on Newegg which looks pretty good except the placement of the IDE connector and the cramped motherboard worry me.

Well they fit the MSI 8800gt video card ? The cooler looks pretty big

It should, my 8800GTS fits the P5K-E just fine and it's rather large at around 10-10.5 inches long. It also takes up two slots (the first PCI slot is blocked).

I think i might end up getting the Asus one you mentioned or the DFI LANPARTY DK P35-T2RS both look pretty good. It seems every motherboard seems to have a con. This is my first build in a while so i want it to last

Well if you want it to last Nehalem is coming out in a a year or so give or take a couple of months. :p

the IDE connector is a little off on the DS3L, but its actually, i haven't it and its not that big of a deal. Definitely recommend it, great mobo.

I'm mainly worried about it fitting the cooler and the video card i guess. The ide port bugs me but i can always get a longer cable if needed i suppose. The heatsink and fan on the 8800gt look massive

The 8800GT is a single slot video card....as "massive" as it's fan + fan shroud might be, it won't be as big as a card with a dual slot cooler. :p

I ended up going with the Gigabyte board and a BFG video card since the MSI one seems to have jumped $30 since yesterday

$159.99 after rebate. That's only $10 more than the EVGA 9600GT Superclocked Edition that I got when it first came out haha. :p

i would have gone with the 4850 everyone is raving about, except it seems to run hot. Maybe in a couple of months they will get better cooling on it

If you can afford it, just grab an Arctic Cooling Accelero S1 Rev. 2, excellent aftermarket CPU cooler.

ONLY if you need it though, as I see no point in going for an aftermarket cooler if you're not having any cooling problems.

wtf the MSI card dropped in price again... oh well. I hope i wont have any problems registering the card with BFG

There shouldn't be any problems. Remember to keep your invoice as I believe you need it to do anything with your warranty :)
