[Rumor] New PS3 model coming next month

Recommended Posts

I just hope its the white one, i have been waiting for it for a while, its gonna look awesome besides the white 360/wii

Except the X360 is not white :p

It will look very weird with the PS3 and Wii being the same color then the x360 in the middle looking like it was bought second-hand from a smoker :p

I would rather just see the 40GB hit $299.

Removing wireless is a bad idea. Fudging features that this generation of games needs is annoying for consumers, especially those that need wireless, who then need to go and spend $$$ on a wireless addon (1st party addons = terribly expensive).

Removing BC was an annoyance for some, but PS3 games don't need BC. PS3 games do however need an internet connection if you want to play online, and the PS3 needs internet for PSN.

The PS3 already has multiple models with various BC compatibility, let's not start introducing/reintroducing models that have less/no features over the others (N)

Wireless isn't needed for games... Since Sony's a bit more "open" than Microsoft standard wireless receivers could work.

But really, a PS3 at $299 wireless or not is perfect for a less hardcore player.

Also, when is Nintendo dropping price of its novelty toy? I'm sure people will prefer the 360 over the Wii. Especially at such a small price margin.

Wireless is needed if your not within a decent range of your router.

Some people just don't want to drill holes/run cables all over their house.

However you may be right about the PS3 using 3rd party wireless receivers? Does anyone have a 20GB and can tell us?

It would cost Sony more to remove the wireless from the console and then support an untold number of 3rd party wireless adapters.

A wireless-G chip isn't going to cost them a great deal, especially if they order them in bulk, but developing, maintaining and testing (with every firmware update) a bunch of wireless dongles WILL cost them more money in the long run.

I can almost certainly assure you that this new box will just be a 40Gb console with a DS3 and possibly a game. They can probably almost afford a price cut, especially since even things like the HDD will have dropped in price by now, so that's all it'll be.

The 40Gb is Sony's "sweet spot", it took them months to figure that out, I doubt they're going to change it just yet.

40 GB LBP bundle.

If only LBP were coming out next month :(

Don't put that thought in my head.

Two new screens for everyone for the mentioning of LBP

Some sort of LBP play event in Japan in the next few months for the first 30,000 people to attend I think.

    • 26H2 absolutely will support ARM Windows just not on devices that came with 26H1. This is evident by the fact I am running 26H2, which on my MacBook Neo and Surface Book, within a VM.

    • The FIFA World Cup is not US centric.
    • It’s amusing how Microsoft is pushing IT admins as if this was a major, game-changing update. In reality, it’s just an enablement package that bumps the build number, which is disappointing compared to the more substantial 22H2 and 24H2 releases. Technically, 25H2, 26H1, and the upcoming 26H2 are essentially the same, differing only in support schedules. They could have included the Windows K2 improvements here, but chose not to. The era of Windows being in the backburner continues, and this 26H2 release feels like an afterthought. Shame, Nadella, shame.
    • Microsoft, totally not confusing /s 25H2 - Current for non-Arm based Windows 26H1 - Current for Arm based Windows 26H2 - Only for non Arm Windows
