ady199
Guys, I have an Intel Q6600 Quad Core and I've just overclocked it in the bios (AwardBios) by setting the FSB to 1333 - on the post screen it now show's the proccessor speed at 3.00GHz The proplem I have is that it doesn't get past the post screen and doesn't enable the keyboard to alow me to get back in to the bios Help!! something is wrong - I've rebooted a number of times but it just sits there at the post screen. What can I do??? Thanks in advance Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/648075-urgent-help-needed-please/ Share on other sites
_bobcat_ Veteran Posted July 9, 2008 Veteran Share Posted July 9, 2008 Try a CMOS reset. Look for the little CMOS battery and there should be some jumpers next to them. You might do better to Google it to get the exact info. What you would be trying to do is get the motherboard to forget the settings and return to default values. By the way, when over clocking, did you do it in one big jump or small incremental steps? It's always safer to go in small steps... Thanks that worked - I've now reset the FSB back to auto and all working fine again....... My current info is now:- (Stock Cooling) Current CPU Freq, MHZ Setting 2400.0 Current value 2400.0 FSB - Memory Clock Mod - Auto FSB - Memory Ratio - Auto FSB (QDR), MHz - Auto - 1066.7 Mem (DDR), Mhz - Auto - 800.0 Memory Timing Setting - Optimal CPU Clock Ratio Unlock - Enabled CPU Clock Ratio - 9 x CPU Voltage - 100% DDR Voltage - 1.85V NB Voltage - 100% VTT Voltage - 100% I've just tried to put the FSB up to 1100 & 1200 it now gets passed the post screen but windows now doesn't want to load! Again I've just put it back to Auto and all working again. I think I'm going to leave it as it is......................... gwai lo
lol you make it sound like this isn't what's supposed to happen when overclocking... Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/648075-urgent-help-needed-please/#findComment-589543491 Share on other sites
+shift. MVC Posted July 9, 2008 MVC Share Posted July 9, 2008 Probably something to do with your RAM with relation to your FSB and your voltage all combined that's causing these problems. Or maybe you just got a really picky chip that doesn't want to hit 333MHz FSB.
