AppStore = Crappy apps so far

Recommended Posts

Just upgraded my iPod Touch to firmware 2.0 (Apple charged me ?5).

Then when I had a look at the AppStore, all I found was crappy version of apps that I had on my JailBroken iPod. The number of appls is VERY limited too. Of course this will increase but anything that is remotely good, you'll have to pay out for and God knows if you can get a refund if the app turns out to be iCrap?

Disappointed over all.

FB and PhoneSaber are the best apps on there - and that says something.

I used to use a program called "Converter" that converts currencies, measurements, weights, temperatures, you name it.

The closest app to that is a iCrappy currency converter and there is one where the conversion rate is fixed!!!! WTF? You won't even know that it doesn't allow your to change the rater of the currency type until you've paid for it.

If Apple have allowed these crappy apps for the launch, how will the quality of future apps be guaranteed?

Agreed. So far I don't see anything that's any better than what's already available on Installer. Not that I expected anything else. I'm sure the quality will increase in time, but I don't know why people that were already Jailbroken were so excited for AppStore. It's the same crap that's on Installer, only in a lot of cases not free. I can see how you would be excited if you weren't Jailbroken, but otherwise it's not something to get all that excited about at this point.

Why doesn't it allow you to download the non-free apps to try out as shareware before you fork out the cash? Some of the crappy apps are about $40!

Also the "back" function doesn't take you back to where you were on the list but rather to the top of the list!

I don't know if its a bug or not, but I have downloaded Super Monkey Ball and the Dice Poker game without paying for them (yet?). Did this right from the iPod itself and not from iTunes. I really like the Poker game and Super Monkey Ball is going to take some getting use to.

I got an email with a list of all my 'purchases' (which were all free) from the iTunes store at the end of the day, so maybe they don't bill you until then for Applications?

Have yet to receive any email from them either. If you include the free ones, I downloaded 5 Apps yesterday morning. I don't know if it was because I did it when they were having all the problems that some how my purchases never got picked up or what. For now I am not going to complain.

didnt you hear the firmware was leaked meaning you didnt have to pay $5

Yeah I didn't pay the $9.95 for that either. Downloaded it right from Apple though. Don't know if that has something to do with not being charged for the apps or not.

nope I had to pay for monkey ball. so it must have been the servers

lol great job I didnt pay $5 (dunno UK price) because maps locator aint working for me, neither was it working in 1.1.4 (didnt pay for the january update either lol got it off installer)

so I think my area is unsuported

And there's not a bunch of crappy apps on Installer?

Sheesh, people complain about the strangest stuff. I happen to think the apps are pretty good for being on launch day. And you know there are many more in current development.

well now we have access to the apps in app store im sure somebody can port them over to installer cant wait for crash bandicoot to end up on installer if that happens

A trial system would be great. The apps are already DRMed - surely Apple could implement a way of giving people a free trial before they buy the app.

We're going to be inundated with Hold 'Em games, and you won't be able to tell which (if any) are any good.

How long do you think it would take for the DRM to be broken and have all the apps up for download somewhere for free? Apple has a duty to make sure the apps are kept secure so the developers get the money they're expecting.

This maintenance-focused release includes bug fixes, updated translations, and a range of safe enhancements. This release fixes a Windows security issue that could allow arbitrary file deletion during privileged cleaning (reported by Zeze with TeamT5). It also adds new cleaners (including a DNS cache cleaner, Claude Code, and Visual Studio Code forks), support for multiple Chrome and Edge profiles, new deep scan options for developer directories like node_modules and venv, and safer, faster file shredding. All Platforms Added cleaners for Claude Code, DNS cache, and many Visual Studio Code forks. Added support for multiple Chrome and Edge profiles. Chrome can now clean downloaded AI models. Deep Scan can optionally remove venv, __pycache__, node_modules, and .angular directories. Deep Scan is faster by skipping directories on the keep list. File shredding is safer, faster, and leaves fewer recoverable traces. Improved handling of cookies, symlinks, Unicode filenames, external processes, and configuration files. Improved Expert Mode warnings and long warning dialogs. Fixed crashes related to cleaner detection, invalid Unicode, and malformed cleaner data. Clipboard is now cleared automatically after shredding files via paste operations. Linux Added AppImage support. Fixed Wayland root CLI issues and several Snap-related problems. Improved package dependencies, AppStream metadata, and desktop file handling. Fixed startup crashes when Python Requests is unavailable. Windows Fixed a security vulnerability that could allow arbitrary file deletion when cleaning with elevated privileges. Added %WindowsSystem% variable support. Improved clipboard clearing using native Windows APIs. Improved installer experience on unsupported Windows versions. Reduced installer size and improved application robustness. Fixed Unicode handling, filename anonymization, Git revision reporting, and splash screen stability. • DriversCloud 12.1.6 by Razvan Serea With DriversCloud (formerly My-Config.com), you can explore your computer easily, safely and free. The application quickly scans your PC and identifies the hardware and software components. DriversCloud then establishes a list of the different drivers compatible with your OS and hardware. Download the drivers needed for the proper functioning of your computer. To detect your drivers, DriversCloud also displays a detailed summary of your hardware and software configuration, analyzes your BSOD, monitors in real-time your PC voltages and temperatures and lets you share your configuration online. Once the hardware components have been detected, you will be able to obtain with just a few clicks the latest drivers corresponding to the identified hardware. You can record your configuration on the site for free, and can get the corresponding URL to post the configuration to technical forums, e-mail and social networks. You can also download the detection result (the configuration) as a PDF file. To protect the user's privacy and data confidentiality, a 4-level confidentiality system was created that filters the XML marks and gives control to the user. The default level can be modified in the preferences. Using the maximum level will prevent the user from publishing his configuration and generating a corresponding PDF file. In non-connected mode, each XML configuration is stored on the server for one day (for practical reasons). However, you are given the opportunity to manually delete it. Created in 2004, and continually improved, My-Config.com has established itself on the web as a free service to PC users running Windows and Linux operating systems. The service is designed to work with the most common Internet browsers (Edge, Firefox, Chrome, Safari).
