The truth about LBP image import

You might recall we announced the news that LittleBigPlanet will see the ability to import images from the PS3?s hard-drive ?before Christmas?. You may also have seen the denials appearing here, here and well, everywhere.

Considering details of the much anticipated new feature came straight from Media Molecule?s Alex Evans? mouth into our very own ears, we were pretty sure we didn?t imagine the whole thing but, as is our nature here at Attitude Towers, we decided to hold back from further commenting until more information came to light.

That information is now available, and it comes straight from the source?

An official release date of the import tool is someway off but the below image (found over at tawkn.com and sent in by countless readers this morning - thank you all) should add some credence to our original claim that the tool does, in fact, exist.

http://www.ps3attitude.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/11/1zegrWe spoke to Alex Evans himself and this is precisely what he told us: ?the work is done on the tool, and it just needs to go through QA and then certification.?

ification.?

With all this evidence stacking up you may be thinking ?Why the conspiracy??. With images now floating around the ?net of the new tool, why would Sony deny it is coming?

Let?s not forget the facts: Alex Evans might be a genius in terms of game design but he doesn?t work in public relations.

It?s quite possible that Sony did not want this information released so close to a holiday season when some people might be buying the PS Eye purely for the ability to enhance their LittleBigPlanet level creating experience. And, for the record, we don?t blame them. They have a business to run and such new information may impact sales of the (fantastic, and we?re not just saying this for the sake of it) PS Eye.

The tool has to go through QA and certification. What if it fails QA? What if Sony can?t certify it for release?

Until an official release date is announced we would like to close this with a simple note: just because something is denied, it doesn?t mean it?s not happening. And just because something exists, it doesn?t mean it will ever be released.

Has anyone else had trouble connecting to "Little Big Planet Online". I want to check out some user levels but the server has been down all morning.

Not working here either.

I was under the impression that the Space and Halloween costumes were going up today.

Tomorrow!

I finished it at about 5:30am this morning.

Was really really good, it reminded me of when I was young and first got my Snes and Super Mario World, that feel good feeling of accomplishment.

Well done to them on bringing back such a simple concept that was so very popular a good few years ago and giving it an updated feel and look, but also giving us the tools to do it ourselves.

That and I love dressing up my Sackboy. :D

Personally I think they could never run out of items to dress up with, I hope they continue to release tons more.

yeah they haven't worked at all since the game came out.

Hmm, odd, maybe if that has been turned off it was what was causing some troubles?

Well i have been avoiding this thread from when people started getting early copies until i got mine :)

Mine arrived yesterday, but after a full days snowboarding lessons i was in no shape to sit and play last night >.<

started playing today though, got my kratos costume :D looks neat, still waiting for my e-mail with my other costume.

i did get a little bored re-doing the first few levels, but it sooned picked up with the new ones :D though i must say it is a little confusing which path to take some some levels, guess they all need multipul plays :)

just need to get some friends to hook up and get the 2x parts :)

I really doubt they are selling them. Seeing as there is only two in the pic and there is no product/price tag.

True, there is no price tag, but the Sackboy does have one of those label things coming out his waist, so he must have been bought somewhere, or has at least been commercialised.

    • The reviews you refer to mean nothing. Where there is no journalism there is no reason to call the gaming media's opinion pieces "reviews". For GP games there is indeed a metric for success - increasing subscriptions. Which turns in revenue. The only circumstance in which subs do not rise when great is being released is a Game Pass system where the company is close to fully saturated with customers in a subscription. However, in that case as the theory goes you spend aplenty in all kind of games - from shady live service cash cows and customer offending agitprop crap in purple colours to robust and entertaining single player games. And keep a solid level of profitability. Ignoring the simply innocuous but mid games MGS has released primarily of the second kind.
    • Report: Microsoft to use AWS to help GitHub deal with a major surge in demand by Pradeep Viswanathan Thanks to the surge of coding AI agents, GitHub's usage has skyrocketed over the past 12 months. To meet this demand, GitHub started with a plan in October 2025 to increase capacity by 10x. However, by early this year, the company realized that it needed 30x scale. This rapid growth has caused severe strain on the platform's reliability, resulting in several small outages over the past few months. In April, GitHub published a long blog post explaining the steps it is taking to resolve these reliability issues. In the post, the company also confirmed that it is working toward a multi-cloud architecture for better resilience. Today, Business Insider reported that GitHub is turning to Amazon Web Services to help deal with a major surge in AI-driven coding activity. It is important to note that GitHub is still in the process of moving completely to the Azure cloud. The current plan is to move the platform fully to Azure by 2027 so that it can scale better as per developer demand. Therefore, the current decision to utilize AWS might be part of a short-term plan to meet immediate demand. A Microsoft spokesperson confirmed that GitHub is using multiple cloud providers with the following statement: For Microsoft, the decision highlights the operational pressure behind the AI boom. GitHub has to stay reliable for developers at a time when rivals such as Codex, Cursor, Claude Code, and other AI coding tools are gaining attention. And the decision to use AWS for computing capacity seems practical given the circumstances.
