How do I open a .dmp?

i just got software that i need that is a PITA to install and comes in a .dmp file. ive been trying to open it, even with my old pc, but it simply isn't working!

A DMP file isn't an installation file, it's a Windows Memory Dump File. (Not even Mac Related)

Not sure what you are trying to do with it...

i got this really rare dictionary that i need for a translation project. they sent me the 'mac version' but it weirded me out 'cause it came as a .dmp file.

that i all there is.

and then i tried getting customer support and the person says they can't offer support.

so what do i do? just return it?

It could be an Oracle database dump. You should be able to open it and view it with a text editor if that's what it is.

Try changing it to .dmg and try and open it.

just for future reference.. downloaded 'the uniarchiver' and that worked... somehow.

don't ask me how, it just did.
