ok, I know things are going a little slowly. I have been busy lately, but I have been working on updates. If you guys wish I can release just the shellstyle (currently only in blue, but I could whip up ergo pretty quick too) to tide you over until the full point release :)

It's up to you guys.

The shell style is basically the same as the one in my WB 4 theme, actually, it's exactly the same :D

Chris

Please release the blue shell style.

It's almost been 5 months since the notion of a new shell style was mentioned by you, Binary. Don't get me wrong, I love this theme and your work, but at this point it has become quite annoying to use the default shell. I understand you may have a lot on your plate, but I think 5 months for a shell style is a little absurd. I hope it has not come to the point where you can no longer support this theme. :(

Is it just me, or has watercolor had shellstyles for months?, it's just that people didnt like them. Instead of critisizing my time schedule, why dont you make yourself useful and make your own.

Plus it seems people have been trying to fill that gap for me (thanks guys :))

I havent been updating watercolor because I've been very sick lately, working fulltime, and I've lost interest. I will be updating it, but when my time allows me to do so.

Chris

Hi Binary. Any news on developments??

(shellstyles, color variations or... whatever)

I'll release the shellstyle after I work out a bug. I'll also be updaing the theme soonish (but no promises). I think I'll be dropping all color variations except for the original 4. It's just too much to keep track of. Black wasnt working out so well anyways. And purple was just meh.

Chris

On a side note, are there any established themers who would like to colaborate on the project? Like help me fill in missing parts, give new ideas, breathe new life into watercolor... If there are, then feel free to PM me. Cause I just cant update like I used to when I had no job :)

Chris

So does that mean if someone was willing, they could continue your work on the black color variation? I was looking forward to that release :pinch:

No rush, we have all the time in the world :)

Anyways I started on an orange color mod for personal use a while ago, but never finished it. I'll see if I can pick that up again... though I have things to do, places to go and people to see, etc, etc, etc. You know how that goes :D

Don't expect anything, but I might just finish that and contact you about it..... we'll see.

I'm sorry if my message sounded rude; however, as the creator of this theme you do have some responsibilities. Furthermore, like anyone else disconnected from your personal life, I did not know you were ill. I hope you get well soon. In addition, I did not say that this theme does not have a shell style, I said that you first mentioned a new shell style, now, more than 5 months ago. Also, if you have paid any attention to my interest in Watercolor, I've been one of your staunchest supporters during thick and thin. By posting your theme on this message board, you are subjecting it to criticism, and, as a member, I have every right to criticize it. Asking someone else to do your work simply because he finds fault in some part of is just a copout, and nothing more. Again, if you feel you cannot keep to your prior statements, I hope you respect the community enough to pass on your current (and unfinished) work to someone you deem competent, so it can be continued. Please don't take this the wrong way, I have the utmost respect for you and your work, and I hope you get well soon.

I realize you're a big supporter Animaniac. However, I don't have ANY responsabilities to this theme or the community, what gets done is what I get done on my spare time. If people wanna start paying me to work on the theme, then I might think about being a little more dedicated to it. The shellstyle has been done for months but it has a bug I wasnt going to release with it. Various people have it, I just never released it publicly. I'm sorry, but I have had an ongoing case of strep throat which has spread to my head and further down my neck, and it doesnt seem to want to let up. If you've ever had strep in the summer, then you'll know how utterly ****ty you feel. Plus it's caused some other complications that need to be dealt with. On top of that, I have a full time job which I'm trying to go to whenever I can make it. Beyond this time, I need to have a personal life, and I have other more important side projects I'm working on right now.

Now with all that said, I do realize I need to get updates out, and thats why I asked for people to contact me if they are willing to help. Plus I do have a person I'm passing the project onto, if he's still interested. You must realize I'm not just going to pass it onto anyone, it needs to be someone who share's my vision. I really dont want watercolor crapped up the second I let go. I'm holding off passing it along until I get my new G5 :D then I'll figure that out.

Out of all the people on this forum, prolly the only people I trust graphically with watercolor would be dazzla and timan. But god only knows if they want the task :)

Anyway's I'm sorry to all my 'loyal watercolor fans' if I havent been the quickest on updates lately, but other than the shellstyle and a few color variations it is mostly complete. More complete than alot of other styles out there.

Chris

Oh yeah, and if you want totally complete, take a look at my WB version. I hate to 'promote' shareware, but it prolly is the closest to the original of the two.

Chris

I am using Watercolor right now and have been for almost a year now, themes come and go but none of them have ever been so classy and professional as watercolor lite ergo. People just don?t understand that nobody wants flashy themes with weird little gimmicks in them, like ?Aqua" or "metallic". Watercolor lite is all I need and all I will ever need (until it gets updated).

Get better binary, don't loose interest in this theme, im sure just me bumping this thread again will bring out lots of others like myself who consistently use watercolor time after time even with literally hundreds of other themes to choose from.

You don't sound too interested in the theme, so I don't expect updates anymore (i actually stopped expecting updates a while ago), so pass this off on to someone and lets make some changes!

your bringing back Watercolor Plus??? :D

Dan

Most certainly not. That was the worst idea I ever had. :)

Chris

What was watercolor plus? I read a few posts saying you were developing it, but never any details.

P.S. Love the watercolor series Binary, haven't used anything else for more than a couple of minutes since it was released. Every other theme is just way too busy, hurts my eyes  :D

Ok guys,

Here's the shellstyle I promised, the bug seems to have disappeared entirely.. :|. Only for Blue right now, but I'll be doing the other colors aswell.

Thanks for your continued patience.

When I installed this on both my desktop and laptop when I select the Watercolor theme under Themes the Windows and Buttons pull down is blank under Appearance. Consequently when I apply the theme the sounds and icons and such work fine but the actual buttons and windows and things don't work, they just default to Windows Classic.

Have you installed Style XP or the uxtheme.dll patch?

    • Microsoft Weekly: Surface Laptop Ultra, Windows 11 context menus, Build 2026 recap, and more by Taras Buria This week's news recap is here, with Microsoft announcing the new Surface Laptop Ultra, fresh chips from NVIDIA for Windows on ARM, a no-build week, fixes for Windows 11's context menus, gaming news, reviews, and more. Quick links: Windows 10 and 11 Windows Insider Program Updates are available Reviews are in Gaming news Great deals to check Windows 11 and Windows 10 Here, we talk about everything happening around Microsoft's latest operating system in the Stable channel and preview builds: new features, removed features, controversies, bugs, interesting findings, and more. And, of course, you may find a word or two about older versions. At Computex 2026, together with NVIDIA, Microsoft announced the Surface Laptop Ultra, its most powerful laptop to date, powered by NVIDIA's RTX Spark processor. Details about this computer are currently scarce, as Microsoft has only revealed certain parts of its specs. So far, we know that the computer has a 15-inch mini-LED display, a rich set of ports, a powerful processor, and all-day battery life. It also comes with a new wallpaper, which you can already download here in full resolution. The Surface Laptop Studio is not the only NVIDIA-powered Surface, which Microsoft unveiled this week. At Build 2026, the company also debuted the Surface RTX Spark Dev Box, an odd-shaped desktop with a 20-core NVIDIA Grace CPU and an NVIDIA Blackwell RTX GPU with 6,144 CUDA cores and fifth-generation Tensor Cores with FP4 precision, connected via the NVIDIA NVLink-C2C chip-to-chip interconnect for high performance. According to Microsoft, it can run models with up to 120 billion parameters locally without relying on cloud GPU infrastructure. These two new Surface devices are likely to cost quite a lot, and for those who need a more affordable device, Microsoft is preparing the next-gen Qualcomm-powered Surface Pro and Surface Laptop. This week, details about these two devices leaked in plenty of detail. Other announcements at Build 2026 include the following: Microsoft unveils new security tools for IT admins and developers building AI products Microsoft announces Scout, an OpenClaw-powered personal agent for enterprise customers Microsoft unveils MAI-Thinking-1 reasoning and MAI-Code-1 coding models Microsoft announced a new Windows 11 native command-line utility Microsoft unveils Majorana 2 quantum chip, accelerating commercial timeline to 2029 Microsoft believes that AI agents will eventually replace apps through Project Solara Microsoft introduces Web IQ, a Bing-powered search system built for AI agents Last week, Microsoft released a new Experimental build, which introduced a major Start menu upgrade. It now lets you toggle off specific parts of the menu without affecting other features, resize the menu, and hide additional UI elements. We published a closer look here, so if you want to know what Microsoft is cooking without enrolling in the Insider program and installing unstable builds, check it out. Speaking of new features, many users are very annoyed about the way Microsoft delivers them. Recently, a frustrated user shared their experience with gradual rollouts, and even Microsoft engineers admitted there is a flaw in the system that prevents new features from applying properly. One of those new features includes the ability to uninstall AI models in Windows 11 with a single click. Windows 11 is finally getting fixes for its slow context menus. Marcus Ash from Microsoft confirmed that the company is working on fixing Windows 11's context menus. Reworked context menus are going to be faster, simpler by default, and "configurable to what you use most." According to Marcus, Microsoft will share more details soon. Windows Insider Program Windows 11 preview builds, released last week, are now available for download as standalone ISO files. These days, Microsoft regularly pushes new images, allowing users to clean-install its recent Windows 11 preview builds faster and easier. If you want to try the latest Windows 11 features without jumping through the Windows Update hoops, get those new images here. Sadly, Microsoft did not release new Windows 11 preview builds this week. Come back next time. Updates are available This section covers software, firmware, and other notable updates (released and coming soon) delivering new features, security fixes, improvements, patches, and more from Microsoft and third parties. Microsoft is preparing new features for Teams. Later this month, the messenger will receive a new download manager with auto-dismissing notifications, reducing clutter and making the overall experience less annoying when dealing with downloads. Mozilla released Firefox 151.0.3, a new bug-fixing update for the browser. It is a small release, which fixes problems with pasting into text fields and the oversized VPN button on the toolbar. However, the front-facing USB Type-C is data-only, and there are some quirks with the computer's memory, so check out the full review. The AMD RX 9070 GRE has been released worldwide, and we published a benchmark review comparing this powerful graphics card to the RX 9070 XT, 7800 XT, the NVIDIA RTX 5070, and RTX 4070. It has solid, balanced performance, plenty of RAM, and low temperatures, but watch out for mediocre ray tracing performance and not the best efficiency. Also, we reviewed the Cuktech 10 Ultra, a compact, high-power charger with four ports and a big display full of various stats. This tiny charger can pull nearly 120W and spread that power according to each connected device's needs. It also comes with a high-quality 240W cable, three power modes, and retractable prongs. The best part? It is quite affordable, just make sure you have an outlet placed in the right spot to benefit from the built-in display. • Let's goooooooo! I've been loving the entries so far! I still have to finish Rebirth (things have been busy!)! Excited for this next installment.
    • "Revelation?" I was hoping for this episode to be called "Reunion". Oh, well... In a related note, the Final Fantasy VII compilation has received an EC entry, short for Ever Crisis. For those who don't know, it already had AC, BC, CC, and DC entries, short for Advent Children, Before Crisis, Crisis Core, and Dirge of Cerberus. I hope it doesn't get an FC entry becaude that would be a freakin' crisis.
