Hirai on Home: "Doesn't matter when we launch"

Sony need to get their head out their ass, all these stupid comments are doing is waning interest for an already overhyped product. I can honestly see this failing, they should just shut up and concentrate on getting the thing out the door. Home = MMO version of Daikatana

Kaz is gonna make you his bitch.

Most of the quotes haven't even come from Sony, they been 'made up' to make a story.

I don't see how talking about a product will do it any harm though?

Er what :s I do know that some news is twisted sometimes but I doubt most of the quotes have been made up ! You can't exactly make up a video interview or conference which features quotes etc.

As for this, Sony really needs to clamp down on devs and give them a deadline, it seems at the moment they are giving them too much freedom.

Hirai is right, if they the product delivers then it'll be worth the wait. Even if it's delayed for another year. Basically, they're betting a lot on it, and part of the reason the wait doesn't matter, is because the PS3 has other things going for it.

Oh, and I'm sure Live took several years to develop before release, and it was nowhere near to where it is now. Though its a service executed in a very different way.

I have the feeling that Home is going to be overrated.

This nonchalant attitude is what killed Sony the last couple years. They should be doing everything they can to get Home out as fast as possible. They need everything at their disposal if they want to give Live a battle.

They don't appear to be dead at all.

Sony have lost some of their spark, but they have plenty left in them. They have a few factors that still hold strong for them, namely the 'Playstation' brand. Looking back in history, 15 years ago no-one would have seen the fall of SEGA. Sony still has plenty of time to recouperate and have a more than fair chance of getting back on top of the game. I'm starting to believe MS is also burning itself out too quick, and now with Bill Gates taking a back seat the Xbox 360 could take a very different direction, for better or for worse. Lastly, Nintendo seem to have gotten lost along the way, bowing down to the quick buck made by shovelware and novelty titles, I want my Zelda's and Mario's back to how they used to be, simple yet fun titles.

Due to having no competition. I think the phrase's 'dead' and 'alive' are a little OTT.

Sony are still well and truly in the game, as are Microsoft.

Surely it works the other way around...

Burst your ass when confronted with stiff competition, and take it easy when you practically own the market.

Has Bill ever really had a say in the Xbox division though?

Has Bill ever really had a say in the Xbox division though?

From what I know, Bill was really hands on with a lot of MS's work and quite infamous for being to the point in meetings. The original Xbox was a major new venture for MS and no doubt Bill would have certainly got stuck in.

Bill Gates is actually a big gamer. I'm quite sure he would have had some input into the Xbox at some point.

Yes, we saw that in his retirement video when he was playing Guitar Heroes and trying to get into U2 :p .

Scirwode

I haven't seen this video, but I gather he was pants at it?

Guitar Hero isn't his thing, but he does have a gamertag, and he does play PGR and GoW alot from all accounts.

I think it's best that you be the judge :p.

Scirwode

Reckon he gets staff discount? :p

Could be, doesn't hurt to try :p .

Pants doesn't quite cover the embarrassment

He probably has employed a guy to play his xbox while hes out... Good PR and all.

His favourite game is Fuzion Frenzy... Remember that.

Im glad he's not running the games division. He sure did hire the right guys for the job though.

Reckon he gets staff discount? :p

Not only that, but he gets things early too :p

He came to my campus in September 2005 to give a presentation and I just so happened to be able to attend. He brought a 360 along with him and gave PGR a little spin (and let us demo it at the end).

That was a pretty cool presentation actually - we also got to see an early prototype of the tech behind Microsoft Surface.

No they're not, but Sony isn't what they were when the PS2 was at it's peak. They were in a tier with no one else in it.

It's hard to say in any way that the PS3 has dominated like the PS2 did.

    • After enabling it in about:config, customize, density, compact; the toolbar/address bar gets smaller vertically. I enabled Nova, I notice the tab bar/title bar is a bit larger vertically now? Everything always becomes a waste of space.
    • Microsoft's Copilot Cowork now generally available with usage-based billing by Pradeep Viswanathan Back in March, Microsoft first revealed Copilot Cowork, a new agentic AI experience in Microsoft 365 Copilot through which users can assign tasks to AI to complete in the background. After testing the service with a limited set of customers in Research Preview for a few weeks, Microsoft announced the general availability of Copilot Cowork to customers in the Frontier program on March 30. Today, Microsoft announced the general availability of Copilot Cowork worldwide for Microsoft 365 Copilot customers. The company also highlighted that Cowork became the fastest-growing feature in the history of its Frontier program. Unlike regular Copilot Chat, Copilot Cowork can run complex, long-running, multi-tool tasks from start to finish in the cloud by using organizational context through Work IQ. When compared to Claude Cowork, Microsoft claims that Copilot Cowork will be 30% to 40% cheaper on average with its Microsoft 365 connector. For now, Copilot Cowork runs on Anthropic models, including Opus 4.8 and Sonnet 4.6. However, Frontier customers can now use GPT-5.5. Microsoft also announced Cowork 1, a secure fine-tuned model coming in the next few weeks, which is designed to handle everyday Copilot tasks at a lower cost. To access Copilot Cowork, a Microsoft 365 Copilot user subscription is required. Usage is billed separately through Copilot Credits, based on model use, context retrieval, tool calls, and runtime. Pay-as-you-go pricing is set at $0.01 per Copilot Credit. To offer IT teams full control over usage costs, Microsoft provides spending limits, usage alerts, user-level controls, reporting, and prepaid usage plans for organizations. Usage-based billing begins today. However, Frontier customers who used Cowork between March 30 and June 16 will not be billed until July 1, 2026. The Microsoft 365 Copilot app now includes a toggle to enter the full Cowork experience. Microsoft is also adding partner plugins, with Enosix, Harvey, LSEG, Miro, monday.com, Moody’s, Morningstar, S&P Global Energy, and TeamsMaestro available now. Adobe, Atlassian, Box, Canva, Databricks, and others are coming soon.
