gwai lo
4870 most of the time, here's some proof so you don't think it's just an opinion: http://www.techreport.com/articles.x/14990 http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/video/dis...4800-games.html Your sig is huge, why don't you remove the spaces in between all the lines? Same amount of information in less area. If this upgrade is for the system in your sig, with that resolution your current card should be fine. ViperAFK
The HTX 280 is currently the fastest. I'd personally just wait for the 4870x2 though. gwai lo
Assuming a resolution of 1280?1024 for your monitor, looks like the 4870 can't do it (I'm assuming "lag" for you means no dipping under 30): http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/video/dis...es_5.html#sect0 4850CF looks promising, but I don't like that they only list a single number because I don't really know what that number is, average or high. However, that's not something you can run. http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=3354&p=5 If we guesstimate the 1280?1024 results from 19?12 here, looks like possible contenders right now are the GTX280 and 9800GX2. Unless you want to go the SLI route, Then it looks like 8800GTs can do it...hell I bet another one of your 8800GTS 320MB SLIed could do it. http://www.techreport.com/articles.x/15105/5 None of these run cool and it really shouldn't be something you're all that worried about unless you planned on overclocking. Kind of a waste though considering how stupidly overpowered your video setup is going to be for a single game. pcmang
i know that. But that answer was irrelavent, Viper. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/651241-which-one-is-faster-hd4870-or-3870x2/#findComment-589581434 Share on other sites

Do you know what pin connectors i need for a gtx 280? if I sli my 8800gts, im afraid about temp. I dont want them to overheat. gwai lo
Your native resolution doesn't require the kind of power the GTX280 and 9800GX2 have to offer *except* for in Crysis. As in those cards are better suited for 19?12 or higher where the power they offer is actually used. Basically, either of those single card solutions would be overkill for your resolution. I believe it requires a six pin and an eight pin. Well the most cost effective solution is to SLI 8800GTS 320MB, just get aftermarket cooling if they really do get hot. You probably won't need them, but if you do it'll still come out cheaper. pcmang
i know it would be, thats how i want it. Another question, http://www.nvidia.com/HelpMeChoose/fx/HelpMeChoose.asp whats PCI Express & PCI Express 2.0? How do I know which one i support? gwai lo
They're just different revisions of PCI-E. I assume the first one is 1 or 1.1, anyway the differences are in the bandwidth and power available at the slot. Nothing you really need to worry about, PCI-E 2.0 cards are backwards compatible.
