PixelJunk Eden Impressions?

Recommended Posts

Well the demo is out now, what does everyone think?

Quite an addictive little game.

Took me 5 mins to adjust to the controls, but I've nailed them now.

By the way, anyone with a PSP, the game works over remote play :D

Been waiting for this demo for a while, and I have to say they did a awsome job. Got to love the music, so chill and relaxing. The concept itself is amazing and not a game thats been release a billion times, such as driving and FPS games. It's nice to have a change, I think I can speak for most people and say "PixelJunk's Monster and Eden(Demo) are awsome games". As stated before the controls take a bit of getting use to, but learning them is quick.

I see myself buying this game the second it's on PSN. Keep up the good work :D

Played a good couple of minutes into both gardens in the demo.

Really enjoyed it.

The mechanics of the game are quite simple, but when playing can a be tricky at first.

I sucked at the jumping and aiming at first, but I got quite into it, timing, jumping properly, making sure you miss certain plants to reach others, while it seems simple, skill is definitely involved in the long run.

I love the Look of the game, and the music is fab too. (fab? lol)

Maybe they might end up offering the music like they did with Monsters on the store, which I hope will be coming to the EU store soon.

I will be definitely be buying this next Thursday if and when it appears on the store. :D

i was annoyed with the silk auto connecting unless you double jumped at first, but then i got the hang of it and it was a very nice demo. Can't wait till the full version comes.

its still a shame that we can't use in game xmb music

The silk thing at first got me too.

But the music thing I can understand, while not certain that you can't, when they advertise the music and visuals to be a main part of the experience, I guess they don't want people filtering that out and playing their own after spending some time on it.

Isn't the style of the graphics and sound based or from someone, I have forgotten who, doesn't it mention it at the start of the demo?

Absolutely a must have IMO.

Everything about it is fantastic. Visuals. Music. Etc.

Simple to use, incredibly hard to master. The absolute definition of a good game.

Can we assume you'll be buying it then. :p

You can..

You can..

You sure?

Patrick: Will Eden support custom soundtracks? Moreover, will PixelJunk Monsters support custom soundtracks as was shown in the Playstation.Blog demonstration of Firmware update 2.40?

Dylan: Custom soundtracks are a bit difficult to implement when we’ve gone out of our way to tie our design and music together to this extent. I’m not sure this whole custom soundtrack thing is good for the artistic integrity of a game, however the answer to this question is neither yes nor no.

Ripten

They didn't confirm it either way for both games, and that interview was only posted yesterday.

Pretty much (Y)

I've sat playing this with the time skipping along quite quickly and I didn't realise.

As you start to get better at the game it becomes more appealing and enjoyable

Pretty fair sized demo as well.

this topic has pretty much turned into what this was it :p

but anywhere... here is what I said originally

I just dl'ed the demo... and I have to say that it's prolly the LONGEST demo I've played in a while.

2 gardens.... and each has 5 stages with increasing difficulty.

great music, nice eye-pleasing color combination and soft graphics. I really like how audio plays a pretty important role in this game.

I honestly can't wait for the full version biggrin.gif

oh yeah... the demo does not support in-game music :-(

Another PSN game that I'm going to buy. I'm loving all the great games on the PSN :)

I know this next statement has the potential to start World War III, but it is my opinion, and I am hoping people just take it for being just that...

I 110% agree about the PSN. In fact, I believe between the two services of XBLA and PSN, PSN actually has the far superior original games. Reason I feel this is while XBLA has some outstanding originals as well, I mean hell Geometry Wars is an all time classic already, however I do believe that as far as creative and original concepts, new and different visual approaches, etc., that the PSN has far more unique offerings.

I just feel it is a matter of quality being better than quantity.

and bring on The Last Guy* another totally orignal execution or what seems to be a simple idea.

I so want The Last Guy. And I just did some research, and it comes out in japan NEXT WEEK!!?? Is that right?

The website says the 29th!!

So my million dollar questions are as follow...

  1. is there a planned release date for the US?
  2. If not, how do I purchase games from the Japenese stores? (I have a Japanese account and have downloaded demos, just never purchased anything)

Seriously if there is no planned US release, I will get the Japanese version and find some tutorials on how to navigate the menus, as I truly think this is a prime example of an incredibly unique concept, plus I am a sucker for Zombies!!

I know it's kinda going OT but I guess as there is no set UK/US release date yet there will be no thread getting made but from what i see Here it looks like it's not being released anywhere else any time soon. :(

Now, don't hold your breathe Euro and US PSN fans, as it's only confirmed for a Japanese release so far, but it would be very, very cruel not to allow us plebs in the rest of the world a chance to try this wee treat out.

As for purchasing from a Japan account i've no idea on that one, I've still only got a UK account, I really should get a US one for PixelJunk.

    • Not even an OLED display on the laptops. Also it seems that the laptop design isn't the same as the Surface Ultra model. Looks like bargain bin at high prices.

Targeted at server, desktop and embedded use, it is now the only professional-quality virtualization solution that is also Open Source Software. Presently, VirtualBox runs on Windows, Linux, macOS, and Solaris hosts and supports a large number of guest operating systems including but not limited to Windows (NT 4.0, 2000, XP, Server 2003, Vista, 7, 8, Windows 10 and Windows 11), DOS/Windows 3.x, Linux (2.4, 2.6, 3.x, 4.x, 5.x and 6.x), Solaris and OpenSolaris, OS/2, OpenBSD, NetBSD and FreeBSD. Some of the features of VirtualBox are: Modularity. VirtualBox has an extremely modular design with well-defined internal programming interfaces and a client/server design. This makes it easy to control it from several interfaces at once: for example, you can start a virtual machine in a typical virtual machine GUI and then control that machine from the command line, or possibly remotely. VirtualBox also comes with a full Software Development Kit: even though it is Open Source Software, you don't have to hack the source to write a new interface for VirtualBox. Virtual machine descriptions in XML. The configuration settings of virtual machines are stored entirely in XML and are independent of the local machines. Virtual machine definitions can therefore easily be ported to other computers. • OK, now ask yourself how are they going to enforce that law? By requiring every single adult to prove their age and provide their legal identity documents to an UNREGULATED 3rd party company that already has a long track record of multiple data breaches. Not to mention, parliament have voted AGAINST this ban, twice, and Starmer is going ahead anyway. So, where's the democracy here, because that looks like dictatorship to me. The solution here is parental responsibility, not government control. Run some public service announcements on TV and UK social media teaching parents how to setup parental controls. That's already been proven to actually work. But the, this is not and has NEVER been about keeping kids safe. It's about control and monitoring. Watching what you're doing online and controlling what you can see and what you can say.
    • Interesting read. I knew the adware was quite controversial at the time, however never realised to the point The Guardian wrote an article about Patchou. I just said no and enjoyed his creation, I’d probably be a lot more wary of something like that today though.
