Smallville Season 8!

Recommended Posts

John Glover? He was awesome I agree. I was a little disappointed that he was only in the 1 episode of Heroes this season too :(

Yeah well, it was better long term for Heroes. They were planning on making him the 'big bad' after the last big bad had just died (Arthur Petrelli).

This way, they can pick him up at some point for a couple episodes.

So is Lex actually dead? We saw the safetruck explode, the facial expression and Oliver admitting to it... But?

Well, in terms of the show, everyone thinks he is dead. We know that in the mythos of Superman, he is not.

Most 'Smallville' viewers probably expected to see Doomsday day in the finale, but even the actors were surprised to see Jimmy Olsen bite the dust.

"It was definitely a shock," Sam Witwer, who played Doomsday, tells 'TV Guide'. "I didn't see it going down like that, so I was very surprised. Aaron Ashmore is such a great actor that I really disliked the idea of taking him out."

"I don?t know that I saw Davis freaking out and killing Jimmy. It's my job to just say the lines convincingly, but that was something I struggled with."

Ashmore says he first heard of the planned fate of the character "about six months ago, right around the time we finished shooting 'Bride'."

"I knew that Jimmy was going to get hurt in that episode and go on a little hiatus," Ashmore tells 'Entertainment Weekly', "so I talked to the producers and asked, 'Guys, where is this storyline going?' And they said, 'Well, we have an idea to send Jimmy on a bit of a downward spiral and, in the end, sacrifice himself for Chloe.'"

"That's what I originally heard. I didn't know that was necessarily going to happen this season. It happened a little sooner than I had anticipated. I really enjoyed working on the show; to be sent off kind of sucks."

"But, at the same time, it works great for the story. And all things run their course. I guess Jimmy on Smallville had run his course."

"There's always been a bit of a discrepancy in how old Jimmy is compared to Clark and Lois, so this (that his younger brother is the comics' Jimmy Olsen) is a way of clarifying things. Jimmy is 10 years younger than them, so Jimmy's little brother showing up totally makes it stick to the mythos."

"I know when the idea of Jimmy coming to Smallville first came up, DC Comics had a bit of a problem because of the age difference thing. But the producers really wanted to bring the character in because they thought they could do some interesting stuff with him."

"They had reassured DC that by the end of the series -- or at some point -- they would rectify that he's not the real Jimmy Olsen."

Witwer also reveals that producers originally mapped Doomsday's character believing this would be the show's final season, or he may have lasted a bit longer.

"When Smallville hired me they believed they had only one season left. But the ratings went up, so they realized there might be a ninth season. We didn't know until fairly late in the season because they were trying to make a deal with Tom Welling to come back."

"By then, they?d already mapped out my character. He was already killing people. Had we known there was going to be more than one season, we would have had Davis be a normal guy for a longer time before turning him toward where he was ultimately headed."

So, Jimmy Olsen in Smallville isn't Jimmy Olsen in the Superman comics. And the Doomsday vs. Superman fight would've lasted longer had they known the show would continue on for a ninth season. It kinda sucks that the fight was so short but hey, at least the show is continuing for another season.

Even if they were worried that the show wouldnt go to a ninth season, they should have at least made the 8th season go out with a bang. Epic fights, flying, etc.

Instead, we got trash :(

They always tend to change the episode plots at the last minute. They might have had something planned, but of course, they realize they can drag on the plot a little while longer. I really hope the fans get these writers some perspective since they do not seem to want to budge from their usual methodology of 7 good episodes and rest fillers.

The finale was disappointing, but the direction can still turn into something interesting. Now it is just up to them to not ruin another potential epic battle like they did with doomsday. They are running out of new nemesis' to duel against Clark.

And what's up with Oliver? Is he going to become the new Lex Luthor?

We won?t know for certain until Thursday, but THR.com has some news on CW schedule moves:

CW is said to have settled on launching the hot new drama ?Vampire Diaries? Thursday 8 p.m., paired with ?Supernatural.? ?Vampire Diaries? would replace the staple in the time slot, departing veteran ?Smallville,? whose final ninth season would air on Friday, probably at 8 p.m.

The network is set to unveil its fall schedule Thursday in New York.

?Vampire Diaries,? about a girl in a love triangle with two vampire brothers, is envisioned as a new tentpole series for Thursday night where the network already has built-in sci-fi audience with ?Smallville? and ?Supernatural.?

Meanwhile, ?Melrose Place? will almost certainly be paired with ?90210,? repeating the launch pattern for the original ?Melrose Place,? which followed ?Beverly Hills, 90210″ on Fox in fall 1992.

With its setting ? a co-ed residence of young models ? new drama ?Beautiful Life? is a perfect scripted companion for ?America?s Next Top Model? and is expected to launch after the hit reality series on Wednesday.

CW?s solidly-rated Monday lineup of ?Gossip Girl? and ?One Tree Hill? is expected to stay intact.

more where that came from at THR.com.

This whole thing of filler episodes is just horrible. I can understand milking the story but jeez this is like extending a rubber tent to cover up the whole world. If this trend continues and some how the ratings go up in spite of the garbage dished out as season 9, its appears they won't be ashamed to extend it to season 10, except that they will have a hard time convincing actors to stay on. I have heard of stories that have plot holes. But as far as smallville is concerned its a big hole with tiny bits of story here and there.

Clark's training in the fortress is an important part in his transformation to superman and they have been mentioning it forever with nothing significant happening in that direction. There have been so many episode where the end looks like he is finally going to go for it and then next week they act like it didn't even happen. As far as continuity is concerned smallville gets a perfect zero. There is no continuity sometimes even between episodes. The writers are just pathetic. I may not be a great writer but I am sure my stories would have better continuity and less number of holes by a light year.

I am so sick and tired of them ruining everything that I will be watching it just to see how it ends.

Do you know what also annoyed me about the last episode ... When Chloe says to Jimmy's brother at the funeral "Oh so you must be Jimmy's little brother"

WTF B*tch! you married the guy how the hell do you not know his family, this show is so weak it makes my blood boil.

Yup the show has dumb writers (Maybe Producers too), FIRE/REPLACE them already!

Superman has TONS of fans, surely there are way BETTER writers!

'Smallville' scoop: Are they casting Zod?!

I am trying to figure out if it's a Comic character from Superman lore?

God I can't wait for more training to be done.

    • You're absolutely right! No reason in hell these should be on the road!
    • They aren't going to want to. Most would just go with the 17 Pro and save money. Why would they want to spend $300 for basically the same thing? It's not worth it if there are hardly any changes from year to year.
    • 24H2 rolled out to the Release Preview Channel in early June 2024, so this coming a bit later in the Experimental Channel (formerly Dev) doesn't really say much more than earlier H2 releases that came out in October. I am not sure what the thinking is here by putting it in Experimental, one would think that the 26H2 stamp means features are locked down and it's now bug tested until October? I don't even pretend to understand Microsoft's strategy for Windows Insider Program though
