Well, for those of you who aren't familiar with it, there's this novel series, spanning four novels about a high school girl who falls in love with a vampire. The four novels are all about them. It's main target was young adults, primarily young teenage girls. The books took of and are a huge success with women and some men of all ages reading and enjoying them. My fiance being one of them.

Needless to say, like any goldmine, Hollywood wants to cash in on this film.

Here's a link to the IMDB page: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1099212/

You can view the trailer there if you'd like.

Here's a plot description someone submitted at IMDB.

When Isabella Swan moves to the gloomy town of Forks and meets the mysterious, alluring Edward Cullen, her life takes a thrilling and terrifying turn. With his porcelain skin, golden eyes, mesmerizing voice, and supernatural gifts, Edward is both irresistible and impenetrable. Up until now, he has managed to keep his true identity hidden, but Bella is determined to uncover his dark secret. What Bella doesn't realize is the closer she gets to him, the more she is putting herself and those around her at risk. And, it might be to late to turn back...

Anyways, I want to give my thoughts about this film. Since my fiance loves the books, I'd feel like a complete ******** if I bashed it to her.

This movie looks to be the cheesiest thing Hollywood has produced in awhile. Not tongue in cheek cheesy like "The Marine" either. Just..Bad. It looks melodramatic and slightly over the top. It probably even has the cheesy vampire "hissing". I cringe every time I see a Vampire hiss in a film. The whole movie looks clean and nice, except for the overcast weather you can expect in Washington. The acting looks pretty wooden and the dialogue lame.

What's worse is all the fangirls and fanboys will think this movie is awesome yet if it didn't have the name "Twilight" in front of it, they'd most likely see it for the piece of crap it is. (Note: My fiance thankfully isn't one of those fangirls. If she thinks it's dumb she'll say so.)

Now for any Twilight fans here, I mean no disrespect to you. I'm not saying you're all lame and cheesy. I'm saying this movie looks to be that way. I could end up eating my words come December.

/rant off.

I just bought all the books which I mentioned in my neoblog about it getting ready for the movies, alot of people have told me they are really good books so until I read them I can't pass judgement but the film looks alright.

Wow, that's new!

Change that to barmaid and we have the plot of True Blood, and it's not a chick flick. How do you **** up vampires people? I mean how does pop culture switch this quickly to the Blade Trilogy to these books? Russia is not happy, and we invented the word "Vampyre."

The movie was awful. My wife is a huge fan of the books -- I have never read them. The acting was incredibly weak, there was no chemistry at all between Edward and Bella. Again, I never read the books, and am commenting as someone who was interested in seeing the movie. The effects were cheap, the music was awful, and the character/plot development was terrible. My wife was extremely disappointed in the movie. She thought it did no justice to any of the characters. This movie was clearly focused at teenage girls -- who will undoubtedly enjoy it.

I'm glad I'm reading the books before I see the movie. I may or may not like the movie but at least I have faces to put on the characters. That way I can direct my own movie in my own mind. I bought the first book yesterday and can't seem to put it down. It's a good thing there's 3 more after this cause I'm almost done.

I'm not sure what it is about this movie. It moves so slow at time and it was such good movie. It had little action, yet it was quite memorable.

4/5 for sure.

Yeah the book is the same...half the book is like slow and then it kicks into gear.

i agree with your wife. however, the movie encountered many problems during production. they didn't get some of the actors they wanted and had to settle, the script wasn't finished and rewritten several times, they didn't have the budget to make the movie longer than what it was (its main problem), etc.

i'm hopping that with the success of the first movie they will get the budget they need and take their time with the script for the 2nd movie

    • Yeah, this is absolutely nothing new and EA have done it before. Burnout Paradise, released in 2008, had dynamic advertising billboards that were updated via the internet and targeted people based on location and what EA knew about them from their profile. It was particularly notable for the fact that the Obama presidential campaign ran ads in the game, in an attempt to reach a younger audience who didn't watch broadcast TV any more. It was by no means the first though. Battlefield 2142 from 2006 had the same thing. In fact, Neowin wrote a story about it back then. https://www.neowin.net/news/ba...-in-game-ads-clarification/
    • This is obviously aimed at the education where Apple has lost so much ground to Chromebooks in the last few years, but unless they come up with a comparable management system for education why would anyone switch back?
    • Here's how we arrived at that claim: Note that this is just Play Store downloads. The app is also available on the Galaxy App Store
    • Google Play states the app had more than 50 million downloads. What other metric do you suggest should be used?
    • MSN defined our generation in some ways, kind of like Snapchat and TikTok have done for future generations. I have great memories of the MSN era in the late 90s / early 2000s. In the UK everyone seemed to come home from School and go on MSN for the evening. We didn't really have mobile phones then, so other than going and knocking on your friends door it was a totally new way of interacting with people. I also loved how I could talk to people I’d met playing online games from around the world. Inviting people to NetMeeting and messing about with the shared white board and webcams was pretty fun, even if webcams only ran at a couple of fps over dial-up. All the random things you could do with MsgPlus! were really fun - I suspect that made a few people jump with /shello randomly blasting Mr Hankey out their speakers! Maybe I’m just nostalgic, however I do feel the internet and computers were more fun back then.
