How Can I Host A Usenet Server?

How would I go about hosting a usenet server? Probably a newb question, but I'm fairly new to the world of nntp.

Are you sure you need to host a server? What do you hope to achieve? Usually you only need a client, and any content you create on your own server would obviously only be accessible to you.

I think you must have a server,If the os is windows server,You can use IIS to build !IF use linux,You can use more software!

Huh? Running a server/workstation OS has nothing to do with whether or not you need a server or client. IIS to build a Usenet server? There are plenty of Usenet clients available for Windows. :)

I at one time used 'INN', one of the more popular NNTP servers.

I set it up on either a Linux or FreeBSD machine.

As I recall it wasn't too complicated to setup.
