Huh? Running a server/workstation OS has nothing to do with whether or not you need a server or client. IIS to build a Usenet server? There are plenty of Usenet clients available for Windows. :)

I at one time used 'INN', one of the more popular NNTP servers.

I set it up on either a Linux or FreeBSD machine.

As I recall it wasn't too complicated to setup.
