external hd backup software

I have a usb external hd that I'll use as a backup for my work I do on both desktop and laptop, what's a good software to automatically synchronize the stuff I want?

Should I create a folder on the desktop and laptop and let the app copy that folder to the external hd?

i use robocopy with the '/mir' switch to synchronize. i wrote this up in a batch file, so all i do is double-click it to back up. it's fast and simple.

a lot of people use syncback or synctoy.

For syncing I tend to use Karen's Replicator.

SyncBack (free version) also works well.

Hello,

I am using 2BrightSparks SyncBackSE exactly for this purpose. My data partition is synchronizeed to an external hard disk drive at the end of a computing session on my desktop or notebook, and then when I start using the next computer, I synchronize its data with the external hard disk drive before working with any data.
