Intel officially name Nehalem "Core i7"

Recommended Posts

Guys, it's the Family 7th of Intel Processors, ever since Pentium Pro (Except Netburst (Pentium 4) CPUs) where all in the Family 6, that include Pentium II & III, Pentium M, Core and Core 2.

So now they are at Family 7. it's not hard to catch why it's i7 now. It's Intel Family 7.

Now try to understand why Netburst CPU (Pentium 4) are Family 15....

I just hope they did well this time, it's the second Architecture change since 1995 (First was Netburst that its)

Swish logo. The name works for me, sort of like Core TDi. ;)

CORE TDI? WHEN CAN I GET MY DIESEL POWERED CORE 2? I want tons of processing power and 90% of them available at 1500MHz! Not to mention that 50 MPG! :p

mm since it will be released soon hh not impressed ;)

ok it doesnt worth :boo: .... waiting for hexa core westmere that gonna total pwn   ....... back to waiting game :p

// joking :laugh: :woot:

I'll buy your old stuff! ;)

Nah I dont like i7 , Core 3 would have been better and not confusing.

Possible that Apple demanded it or something? the i and all... and MS demanded the 7 :o

i for Apple , 7 for Microsoft

iMac running Windows 7 on an i7.. catchy :p

Anyways I think it's good they didn't go with Core 3. That might have led consumers to believe it was a tri-core or something. I just hope the processor lines are more clearly defined this time around.

if they are going to be released at the same time then yes purposal

Do you know of a reason why? Is "7" the new trend? Microsoft has good reason for using the "7" for their new Windows operating system title; it's their 7th operating system.

Intel on the other hand has had over a dozen different CPUs. Families like the 8008/8080, Celeron, Pentium, Itanium, Intel Core, Intel Core 2, Duo, Quad, Xeon, etc.

Cool, was gonna build a new pc around november / december anyway.

How much are these going to be compared to the core duos?

If we're only talking about MSRP..

The first ones on the market will be high-end units costing between 600 and 1000$, but gradually they will introduce mid-range and later low-end products that will replace the whole C2D line. I expect about 4 months after the first i7 before the affordable units hit the shelves.

Hmmm, kinda of a hard decision, don't want to wait another 6 months for a new affordable computer lol.

Might just end up getting a C2D. :/

Actually, one of the first 3 that they are releasing will be below $400. Possibly below $300 in volume from Intel, but there is some conflicting information on the subject.

    • The consumer ESU is ending in 4 months. LTSC isn't now, never has been, and never will be for consumer use, it is for OT usage - plant machinery, medical devices, manufacturing equipment etc. LTSC requires a Microsoft EA. You can't legally obtain LTSC to run on your PC at home.
    • Hmm actually looks decently interesting!
    • Being on GitHub doesn't make something safe. Like any unofficial scripts to do x or y this caters to people with just enough knowledge to be dangerous. If you want to do what this does, and you actually know what you're doing then write your own script (or maybe just add the reg keys yourself) if you don't have the ability to read and understand what a script is doing, and especially don't run it with elevated privileges. Or in this case just use an MSA, sign up the normal route, and stop trying to push water up hill
