More Halo-Related Teasing From Bungie

Bungie got two things they're good at. One is making games. Two is yanking chains. Latest example? This Halo teaser, masquerading as an acceptance speech for the Edge award Bungie picked up the other day. Watch Kotaku alumni Luke Smith dress up in blue Spartan armour and do some talking, then wonder aloud to your internet friends on what it could all mean. Current favourites amidst the speculative classes are that a Halo "world builder" is on its way, but don't let that sway you if your theory is something grander.

People at mlgpro.com are freaking out about this. I would love for it to be a custom map editor! Maybe we could bring back Midship and Lockout in all their glory. IMO, many of Halo 3's default maps lack the ability to hold a fast paced game. What MLG has done with forge to improve the pace of some of the maps is great.

 @ 0:37 in the video

I think its definitely gonna be a prequel if all the older characters are making an appearance. But then, Bungie could just be f***ing us around :p

I was about to say that.

They said in the video "even though you finished the fight, it doesn't mean it is over", and also when they showed Miranda and Cortana, meaning they would have to some how be alive again... aka prequel!

I think they were there for comic relief. I think it's more probable that it's a map builder that allows you to put assets like characters in the map, probably with AI. Also, the wording about Halo being over is something like "but the fun doesn't have to stop" (I can't hear it at work) which I take to mean that it's just extending the playability of Halo 3 (hence the logo at the end). Also, he mentions that Microsoft now owns the IP.

Given that they've all already said it's Halo... I don't think he meant that :)

No, no. Look at what I said. Any new Halo stuff. That's why I don't think it's a prequel or anything along those lines. I think it's just an addition to Halo 3.

Did I just see a completely blank map? Ok, if anyone notices anything about this it is the very last part. he is standing on a grid map, which means we might get a true to life canvas for map creation. A big stretch, I know, but Bungie has had bigger (bubble shield in that CGI trailer...). Anyways, I am looking forward to whatever they have up their sleeves. It is in fact a completely clean slate for map creation I will be on Halo 3 a lot more often.

That's the only way I'd play Halo 3, on Windows (or Linux, but hell will probably never freeze over). I don't own a 360, and probably will never (unless I get one mysteriously in the mail from a Neowin-ite who wants to donate [completely kidding about the donating, but I don't own one].

But I'll only play it if it's loads better than Halo 2 was on Windows [the first Halo PC, now that's something to aim at]... And as long as they don't make it "Halo 3 for Windows Seven".

It'll only go to Windows when MS wants it to, and based on the last ports, you've got quite a wait on your hands.

Have fun! (or not as the case may be :p)

I disagree. Rockstar wins the best developer ever.

Personally, I wish it's Halo 3 for Windows.

For one game, especially an under-delivering one like GTA4?

HA

They already said it's a new game.

Why would an addition warrant its own big event?

While I don't recall them ever saying it's a new game, I was thinking the second bit myself.

Although I feel like Bungie's been hinting at some Halo 3 multiplayer enhancements, alongside also hinting at a new game, so here's guessing at which this is.

Haha, freaking awesome! I smell a real map editor, maybe? We'll see! :)

Sethos and I were just talking about map editors tonight while playing Battlefield. We were wondering when we would see a fully fledged game include one and Far Cry 2 came up, seeing as the previous games had one.

Would be really awesome to see a Halo 3 map editior, and besides they were already half way there with Forge (Y)

They have. They already said that there are 3 distinct projects that they are working on, the first of which is Halo 3 related and the other which would warrant it's own event. No idea what the third is about.

    • Microsoft's fast coding model MAI-Code-1-Flash comes to Copilot Business and Enterprise by Karthik Mudaliar Microsoft’s recently announced MAI-Code-1-Flash model is now generally available to GitHub Copilot Business and Copilot Enterprise customers. With this support, organizations can have more centralized policy controls and billing while finally being able to use Microsoft’s lightweight, first-party coding model. According to GitHub’s announcement, Business and Enterprise plan administrators must enable the MAI-Code-1-Flash policy in Copilot settings before developers can access the model. Microsoft says that MAI-Code-1-Flash is for fast, iterative coding work rather than the most demanding architectural or debugging tasks. GitHub’s official model comparison page says that the model is great for "general-purpose coding and writing," while it excels at fast, accurate code completions and explanations Microsoft introduced MAI-Code-1-Flash on June 2 as part of a broader collection of internally developed MAI models. GitHub subsequently expanded support to Copilot CLI, the Copilot cloud agent, GitHub.com chat, GitHub Mobile, Visual Studio, JetBrains IDEs, Eclipse, and Xcode, but said support for managed Business and Enterprise customers was still on the way. In Microsoft’s own benchmark testing, MAI-Code-1-Flash scored 51.2% on SWE-Bench Pro, compared with 35.2% for Anthropic’s Claude Haiku 4.5. Microsoft also claimed that the model used up to 60% fewer tokens on SWE-Bench Verified. Do note that these are vendor-run results rather than independent measurements. The model is billed at provider list pricing under GitHub’s usage-based system. GitHub currently lists MAI-Code-1-Flash at $0.75 per million input tokens, $0.075 per million cached input tokens, and $4.50 per million output tokens. For organizations, the main incentive to use MAI-Code-1-Flash is likely to be efficiency rather than maximum capability. A smaller model that responds quickly and limits unnecessary output is quite useful for repetitive agent tasks at scale, especially after GitHub Copilot’s move toward usage-based billing. The "Flash" model is recommended for fast work and not necessarily for huge repositories with loads of context. It's better if teams compare their output with other larger models, especially if they're working on security-sensitive changes and complex, multi-file work.
    • yes AND no the "original" or plain/normal Optiplex 7010 won't be getting any more new firmware updates BUT the Optiplex SFF/SFF Plus {small form factor}, Micro/Micro Plus & Tower/Tower Plus 7010 editions DO get new updates such as this new one   and here are similar guides from the Dell web site for Dell systems: https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-us/000390990/secure-boot-transition-faq https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-us/000347876/microsoft-2011-secure-boot-certificate-expiration
