Microsoft removed all download links to their Virtual Machine.

http://www.microsoft.com/java/

The only place now to get VM is if you get SP1 (not SP1a). Your alternative is to use Sun's Java.

I still have the VM installer on my hdd (taken from SP1) if need be, but i have no where to upload it....its 5mb, if it's illegal to distribute this, then i shall refrain from doing so.

Edit: VM and updates wont appear on WU if VM isnt installed....i suppose you could get the VM security update, which i THINK installed VM but am not 100% sure

On some places i have tried to download this but i cant for winXP any reason why? And where i can get it?

http://java.sun.com/getjava/index.html - that is for just getting the java runtime (so you can see java stuff on the net)

if you want to program with java:

http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.1/download.html

Actually that second link has both the JRE (for running java stuff) and the SDK (for programming). The SDK comes with the JRE as well.

Yes it is its 5.1mb in size and comes under the guise of A security update

WU lists it as below.........

810030: Microsoft VM security update ( post date: March 11, 2003 ) 5.1mb

Do a google search for "msjavx86.exe", it should yield more than a few results. This is the FULL distribution version - 5.0.3805. The VM component available on the Windows Update site is just that -- an update, NOT the full version. You'll have to d/l and install the full package and then install the update over the top.
