I won't list off exact programs because chances are that you have stolen the movies you are looking to copy, and as such you directly impact the amount of money in my paycheck. I do not support this type of thievery.

Giving you the benefit of the doubt, I will say that there are programs that will play back DiVX ;) in QuickTime... Any file that will play back in QT can be encoded as a VCD compliant MPEG 1 file directly on your Macintosh. In other words, yes it can be done fairly simply.

If you're going to steal, please use your PC. If this is a legit copy, I'm more than happy to help off-list.

i appreciate the benefit of the doubt mate ... its actually some digital video from relatatives ... they said they would send me a few clips, but my family back here doesn't want to sit around my Mac, and watch. I knew i could re-encode to mpg1 on my PeeCee, and have done so in the past, but since getting my Cube, and using it as my Primary computer, i figured i'd like to use it, as much as poss! ..besides, i am curious to encoding speed contrast etc! :D

I'd say stick to PC... Macs at present time suck at authoring (X)(S)VCDs. If you don't mind VCD standards, you can use Toast to encode the movies (as long as you can view them in in Quicktime), it's the fastest encoder. You could look for a copy of Astarte's MPEG encoder, forgot what it's called...it's a classic app. Or use MissingMediaTools and Mediapipe (free encoder app; you need the Apple developper tools to compile the MPEG encoder), for more info on those two apps visit this site http://homepage.mac.com/rnc. If you don't mind spending money, you could get Cleaner...slow as hell encoder, surely done on purpose so you buy their encoding speed boster card. I've tried encoding on the Mac and prefer to use the PC with TMPGEnc and EasyVCD.
