  1. 1. Who should lead on Destiny?

What I feel is the different is that SG1 and Atlantis is easier to get into. It's more shallow and we don't see much of the characters personal life. But Universe is a bit slower and can get a little harder to get into. But the reward is a better connection to the characters. And the story is paced better imo. Not that I don't like SG1 and Atlantis. Universe just feels more real and down to earth.

On the music side though there is another story. The OST for Universe is simply put brilliant.I have had chills at a few scenes because of that. Especially in the episode Air, where Eli had to keep his hand in the event horizon. And lets not forget the episode Water. I have to have this in my collection!

Thanks for explaining this although for me I have to be in the mood for the more "real and down to earth" rather then the "shallow" story lines but I do agree with you. I just watched Season 1 : Ep. 14 probably my 2nd full show I've watched. I just wanted to smack Rush but hopefully he can put some closure to his guilt and stop being a dick to everybody.

So his body powered the ship or did he ascend?

I REALLY doubt the Ancients would use bodies to power a ship for one... and two, the ancients were trying to figure out HOW to ascend before they launched Destiny (as well as Atlantis)... so IMO, that's out two.

I think he just became one with the computer like typical science fiction movies (and RealLifeComics) do.

It's pretty clear that it seems like he was able to speed up the ships repairs or even find a quick way to boost the ships systems and jump to FTL before turning into a puff of smoke. I don't think the chair is an ascension device but it doesn't mean that he didn't ascend. It's possible that an ancient helped him like Oma did with Daniel Jackson.

I'm going with inter-ship teleportation here, he probably fixed a portion of the ship (Eg: a medical bay) and beamed himself in. Throw yourself in a stasis chamber to heal up and bob's your uncle.

That's what I think too. While this is an ancient ship, I don't think they are going to play up the whole ascension/ancients thing too much in this run. They ran that into the ground for 2 series, don't need to do it again. I think they'll just stick with a simpler solution and say he transported himself to another part of the ship.

I think he might of ascended. The reason being is that if you look back at a certain episode of Atlantis where Rodney said that they could help him ascend if they slowed his heart rate near the zero. What he could of done is use the cold to do the same thing then ascended from there.

i think he ascended, based purely from how the room looked when the door opened

Im putting my 5c on Asention too based on that theroy.

And im putting another 5c on that asention put him into some kind of hologram (aka Atlantis) where that guy can get full access to the ships computer somehow.

It was actually his brain activity in terms of Hertz, the heart rate was about his relaxation.

Hmm, I need to re-watch that episode, purely going off memory here, but maybe it could be the same thing? Or maybe he becomes apart of the system or something...

Stargate universe is the only stargate series i have watched... What exactly is Asention? :s

Throwing off your mortal coil and living as a being of pure thought and energy.

Depending on the rules that you ascribe to, this means that you either corrupt the minds of mortal followers (although I think we've closed the book on the Ori) or you follow a path of non-interference in mortals.

And more specifically it's Ascension :p

On topic of the latest episode though... I thought I heard someone hoping for clever writing on fixing their latest predicament after last ep... Well the writing team is obviusly still not up to this challenge, and even broke the writers rule that "accidents" (or in this case sabotage) shouldn't be used to fix the "hero's" problem.

Total cop out on the whole returnign issue. and the episode had more plot holes than it had substance between the holes. The art department still doesn't grasp the most basic concept of scale. to start with the galaxies where WAAAAY to close to each other. based on the size of the galaxy they left, in the outside shots, they where farther form the galaxy by many times, the size of the galaxy itself. ich begs the question.. how did the gate work on that distance, if it did, then any gate should have been able to reach any other gate in the galaxy, but before they had range issues....

Then there was the enemy ships who managed to get in the middle of the void between the galaxies in 3 months... must be a miniature universe this...

of course at the distance they hwere at the galaxies hsould both be just the size of a star, but I can understand them going the way they did in order to make the regular dumb viewer get the point of where they were and where they were going. but still, ridiculous size, and at the speed the ftl drive moved the ship in the last exterior shot and the distance the galaxy was still away, yeah they're going to e a few years before they arrive. Which flies right in the face of the distance they had travelled to start with..

Some artistic license is ok. but they could at least try... if they're just going to ignore physics and universal laws and scale, they could at the very least use some creative writing on the story, instead of "Boom, they're back"

And how many genious expert on alien hyper drive/FTL (give it a proper name already, hyper drive is also FTL. FTL is just a catch all phrase for all faster than light technology) does this supposedly top secret project really have...

In terms of plot holes, I think the sabotage killed their FTL drives before they left the galaxy thus keeping them in range of the planetary gates. My understanding was that they had not yet begun the inter-galaxy trip and it was only the fear that they would end up being stuck between galaxies rather than actually being stranded in the middle. 3 months spent at sub-light speeds wouldn't accomplish much distance at all.

I'm with Fred on this one; it wasn't an accident, it was sabotage. They wanted to keep the ship within gate range for their own reasons, though I will concede that happening to jump into one of their bodies just in time was a bit much.

Awesome episode. As for the ending, I highly doubt Franklin ascended. The chair aboard Destiny seems to be an older model of the Ancient "Repository of Knowledge" as well as a control chair. At most, it would've given Franklin a ton of information. And as we all know, ascension requires a certain level of brain activity. As far as the shows go, there have been two methods of ascending: spiritually and evolutionarily. The former was the method used by Daniel Jackson (with the help of Oma Desala) and the latter was used by Rodney McKay (thanks to the ascension machine which modifies your DNA to accelerate evolution).

^This.

In my opinion Franklin did far more than get the ship going, I imagine the ship is now aware of their presence and puts it on some sort of priority. Remember what Rush said, the ship doesn't consider them a priority because they did not exert any control. Well now they have and I doubt it's effect will be minor.

    • Remarkably based article from Garter - apparently there IS someone working there that actually understands mainframe systems.
    • Calling it TDS doesn’t answer the question: why did this site skip prior UFC games but review this one, at this exact political moment?
    • Its the timing of its release, mixed with the timing of the review mixed with the timing of the event, when this site never reviewed previous iterations of this game that I could find.
    • Instagram just got "a long-requested feature" by Hamid Ganji Instagram has finally added a new feature that has been "long-requested" and it allows users to write an individual caption for each image or video in a carousel. The feature will start rolling out this week, and it’ll be available to all users. Previously, Instagram only allowed a single caption for all regular posts and carousels. This made it harder for content creators to describe every scene in a carousel and often forced them to write longer captions. However, with this new feature, every slide in a carousel can have its own caption, which can be viewed by swiping left or right. To use the feature, when writing a caption for your post, select “Multiple captions” from the dropdown menu in the caption area. You can then write unique captions for each slide. By swiping through the carousel and selecting individual slides, a dedicated space for writing captions will appear. Instagram says the feature will help audiences get the right context at the right moment. The ability to assign a unique caption to each slide in a carousel could be particularly useful for content creators and brands on the platform. Instagram says the feature will begin rolling out this week. The new feature appears to have been well received by Instagram users, many of whom have been requesting it for a long time. However, users are now asking for additional features, such as the ability to add new slides to a carousel after it has been published. Instagram has been introducing several useful features lately, but users who want access to additional tools and perks can subscribe to the platform’s Instagram Plus offering. Priced at $3.99 per month, Instagram Plus includes exclusive features such as 48-hour Stories, more detailed post analytics, and the ability to tailor posts or Stories to specific audiences. The subscription includes 11 new features in total.
