  1. 1. Who should lead on Destiny?

Finally got time to watch this series. Why did they ruin Stargate?

How far are you in? The show was bloody awful the first half of the season, I nearly quit watching. But it's improved massively the past 13 or so episodes and I now look forward to watching it

I just hate how all scripted tv breaks for the summer :(

Most of. Not all. The cable networks are running some summer shows now, they usually start in July.

T-bag!!

Yeah, seems like Robert Knepper is the only one from Prison Break to be in anything else.

I thoroughly enjoyed this season and the finale. Even though they kept the fate of so many characters up in the air (ironically the name of the premiere) Looking forward to it's return although I'm not keen on their new crew. Although I suppose its better than them fighting with each other like during the initial half of the season. Thankfully its only 4 months away give-or-take. However I'm sure we'll have another 4 months gap after the 10th episode. Hope they don't rule out the Stargate too much, while I'm happy with the new direction they've taken the show, I still like going back to its routes, very little exploration, considering its a ship meant to.. explore.

Also having seen that teaser, it appears more people gate to destiny? So much for searching for the perfect planet, seems they are a dime a dozen out there.

OCTOBER IS SO FAR AWAY!!

/me riots!

But seriously, such an awesome ending. It's a good show, it really gets you involved with the characters. The ending was perfect, though I too was yelling at my TV afterwards unsure.gif

:o Rob C Cooper is leaving the franchise.

A short and early blog entry today as I’m heading off to the first stop in Robert C. Cooper’s farewell victory tour. ”What’s that?” you say. You didn’t know hew was leaving? Well, yes. Sad but true. His appearance at this year’s Comic Con panel will mark his final Stargate-related contribution, so if you happen to be in the San Diego area in late July, make sure to say goodbye and thank him for fourteen years and countless hours of gate-tastic entertainment. But, please – no tears. If you start crying it’ll only be a matter of time before he starts crying as well (the ole softy) and that’ll just embarrass him.

It’s true. Rob is leaving Stargate after some 300+ episodes and we’ll all miss him terribly (especially Kerwick, the office mascot, who, late Friday, managed to swallow his chimpanzee sense of melancholy long enough to sign dibs on Coop’s soon-to-be-vacated office). Still, allow me to take a moment to dispel some of the crazy theories presently making the rounds of the internet concerning his departure.

1. Rob left because he’s doing poorly in our Office World Cup pool and can’t bear the thought of seeing Ashleigh win again – Untrue. In fact, Rob passed on the pool because he knew he wouldn’t be around to see its conclusion. And, quite frankly, didn’t trust any of us to send him his winnings if he did come out on top. Yes, it goes without saying that he can’t stand the thought of Ashleigh winning, but the same can be said for most everyone else in the Production Office.

2. Rob contracted an alien virus while directing a recent off-world episode and is placing himself in self-imposed quarantine before his mutation completes and he becomes a threat to his co-workers – Untrue. Rob is hale and hearty, one hundred percent healthy and will no doubt bury us all. Damn him.

3. Rob was ousted as a result of a coup orchestrated by fellow Executive Producer Carl Binder – Untrue. Rob made the decision to leave last year. You’re just hearing about it now. And, for what it’s worth, there is absolutely no evidence linking Carl to either of the previous failed coup attempts.

4. Rob is being replaced by a certain someone we all know and love – Untrue. Although it may seem all too coincidental, Rob’s departure and Oprah’s decision to wrap up her highly successful show are in no way related. Oprah will NOT be replacing Rob for SGU’s third season (nor will anyone else for that matter, much to Kerwin’s chagrin). Paul and I will continue our show running duties alongside Brad for the show’s third year.

5. Rob is leaving because I09 hurt his feelings – Untrue. Unlike Carl who bursts into tears whenever Meredith Woerner hates on an episode-ending music montage, Rob is superhumanly thick-skinned, impervious to all negative critiques and even somewhat flame retardant.

So there you have it. No conspiracy, Carl-orchestrated coup, or upcoming role as lovable new intern Seamus McPhee on next season’s Grey’s Anatomy. After fourteen great years with Stargate, Rob has decided to move on. We’ll miss him but we’ll see him off, buoyed by his innumerable contributions to the franchise and secure in the knowledge that whatever is next for him – be it the opera or training for a UFC title bout – he’ll be successful.

^ That actually would be pretty cool. The only problem with giving it a good long wait is most of the actors will have aged significantly. Although it would be cool for there to be a 'Startgate' movie that combined all 3 series characters/plots and brought together their little universe.

It looked like they were going to a planet from Destiny, not to destiny from another planet.

Yea I suppose that makes more sense, but even still they managed to gate to a planet, then captured, than forced to return

The upcoming second season of Stargate Universe will expand upon the show?s mythology, giving viewers new insights on just why the Ancients set the Destiny on a pre-programmed course millions of years ago.

Among those insights is the fact that the ship isn?t just allowing its reluctant crew from Earth to explore the unknown, but that it is also going somewhere in particular.

SCI FI PI reports that ?the Destiny has a destination of cosmic importance,? according to an upcoming interview with executive producer Brad Wright ? ?so important that it overshadows the desire for the crew to get home, and that by fulfilling this new mission, it may in fact allow them to get home.?

Hmm

"According to the site, the info indicated ?a gigantic battle in space featuring an armada of alien spaceships, and possibly a planet-based battle, are coming to Stargate Universe. Great news for Stargate action junkies!?"

Damn it, hurry up October.

You know what i was ready to give up on this show, i love all things Alterran and i was excited at the prospect of getting some backstory but it was just Battlestar Galactica but with a lot more whiny and unlikeable people. But that above has just shot this show right into my number 1 slot that Lost used to take up, less space soap opera, more stargate activity, more Alterran/Ancient backstory and im sold.

Im still hoping for at least an Alterran outpost along the way or some of them in stasis on the ship somewhere.
