Tip: Using Live-CD To pay for things

Recommended Posts

Hi, Recently i saw alot of people complaining about spyware and stuff, and yes its true that when computer is compromised you really really cant trust it again, you dunno what happens.

anyway a small tip what i do.

Pop in a live Linux Distro CD - Restart, Open firefox, viola do it from here.

Even safer then using VMware because nothing is saved except the live memory which fades quite quickly

I don't think I have the patience for that

Not like I'm having major security breaches that would require me to do that ... :|

Having a prepaid card emptyed containing about 100$ was enough for me, i really do understand how crucial lesson that was, if that was a credit card i could be on the street or anyone could, i really cant stress how people don't mind security.

Maleware is just too frikkin smart theese days, antiviruses and antispyware dont cut it anymore, especially when your E-Buying, just too risky. Knowing what goes on there

Yeah well, I've been purchasing online for years and never lost a single dollar to any fraud or security breaches - Could be because I stick to 'trusted' sites, I don't browse random pr0n ( On this PC ... ), I open my NetBank with the security file/code and Copy & Paste my card information instead of writing it, in case I would have a keylogger.

*Waits for the hoard of tinfoil-people to set me straight and tell me it's only a matter of time* :p

So can you give me some "trusted" porn? :p

Exactly Me too!!! People are more worried about other people stealing their info from their bins . . . I wish people would wake up and see that its the PC infront of them crammed full of lovely spyware thats stealing their data. What self respecting criminal is going to go routing through peoples bins . . . .

What if the person has a newer machine which the Linux distros dont have the network drivers for etc? That person also needs to know how to use Linux, which the adverage Joe does not. They would wonder where the start button is.

A machine that is "compromised" can be trusted again after a format. However, if the users machine is being infected with spyware that often, i would suggest they stop looking for porn and juarez.

Been using online banking for years and never had a problem.

Come to that, i never had spyware or a virus unless i had a purpose to download one to my machine for testing purposes.

If you're going to be that paranoid, you might as well stop online shopping. And yes I realize, you can have your identity, credit card/bank card numbers stolen even if you don't do online shopping/banking.

run your browsers in a sandboxed environment. like sandboxie

or

as you mentioned....

surf the net in a vmware session

and use the vmware host machine for banking.

Yeh with this age of identity theft and keylogging....it's worrying how safe your data is sometimes... especially when other people use your machine in a household who aren't as tech savvy as you are.

    • Anybody that thinks flying cars were possible are idiots. Everyone would basically need a pilot licence, can you imagine how insane and dangerous that would be, people can barely handle driving on land safely right now.

    • Waymo recalls self-driving software after cars enter closed freeway work zones by Paul Hill Waymo, the self-driving car maker owned by Alphabet – the parent company of Google –, has recalled some of its fifth-generation Automated Driving Systems (ADS). It did so after some of its cars drove through closed construction zones. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the affected vehicles were capable of driving through a closed freeway construction zone and continuing to drive at speed. The listing on the NHTSA website says that Waymo is currently developing a solution to fix this issue, but in the meantime, freeway driving is being restricted. Waymo will update its ADS software so that vehicles can detect when they can avoid entering construction zones. According to the Safety Recall Report, on April 20, 2026, Waymo’s Field Safety Committee began meetings reviewing an event from April 11, 2026, and five events from April 19, 2026, where Waymo’s autonomous vehicles didn’t recognize and drove past ramp closure signs into the pre-planned freeway construction zones. This took place in Phoenix, Arizona. Separately, on May 18, 2026, seven Waymo vehicles entered freeway lanes with active construction in the San Francisco Bay Area by driving between cones that were placed to show the lane was closed. On the back of both of these events, Waymo restricted freeway driving until it could address the issue. In June, Waymo’s Safety Board reviewed the issue and additional information related to ADS performances around construction zones; then, as a result, it decided to conduct a recall. This development is not good for Waymo as it adds to a growing list of technical hiccups its cars have experienced. Ultimately, it will lead to more scrutiny from lawmakers around the world who will be more cautious about letting autonomous vehicles on their roads without tighter regulation. For readers in areas where Waymo operates, does this news make you more wary about stepping into one of these vehicles?
