Just updated, and so far the websites I visit every day are working fine in native IE8 mode. Only 1 seems to have a small issue but nothing major enough to force me to switch it over to compatibility mode. And on that note I love the fact I can switch in and out of IE7 mode without a restart now.

Good stuff so far.

hmmm... the biggest thing I hate about this version is that when you start to type in a web address, you can't hit tab to just go to the website you want to go to. For example, if i type in "neo" in the address bar, I can't just hit tab and enter to go to this website. I have to either, 1) type in the address completely (which sucks for really long links), 2) press the down key, or 3) use my mouse and click on it. That is the biggest reason why I don't like using Opera, because it works that way, too.

Oh well it fails the new acid test miserably! Try for yourself here...

What a shock!

Full acid 3 test support or GREAT acid 3 support isn't the objective in IE8 (only a few instances will be supported),this was previously announced,so stop bitching like a baby, this browser at least passes the Acid 2 test,a great improvement over previous version.

Go cry somewhere else

If you answered yes to both questions, you will be able to install Internet Explorer 8 Beta2, but once installed, you will not be able to uninstall either IE8 or Windows XP SP3 later. The Setup Wizard will warn you prior to installation:

What's up with that? O_o

I guess it's still ok to install this on my XP SP3 (I don't think I want to uninstall IE8 or XP SP3 in the future) :)

Coloring tabs does a good job, but I think its kind of a hackish way to accomplish it. Generally, I think they still haven't done enough to clean up the interface, it still looks like there are too many menu items, the activities (accelerators) and web slices are awkward to get to, and the buttons being crowded on the right side of the tabs still is a bit messy.

So is there anyplace to report bugs?

I have a problem with gmail. I check my personal account, log out and want to check my secondary account but IE keeps on remembering my original personal account username and clicking on 'Sign in as a different user' just does not work right.

With the color tabs. I would like to set what range of colors to use. That would be great.

Couple faults on my site:

In Javascript

window.innerHeight is undefined, whereas in Firefox/Opera it comes back with a value.

In layout:

It's missing a virtual align that IE7/FF3/Opera obey. Apart from that it's a good release. Keep up the good work Microsoft!

Wait, it seems if I push ALT it fixes itself...

Stupid question : If I check "delete history on exit" and then go to delete history and check all the boxes, will it delete all of the things I've checked when I exit the brower ? how does "preserve fav website data" work ? does this mean all the sites I've added to me fav's and it will keep the usernames/passwords ??

    • Any decent ITSM will A) have a web form that allows a user to raise a ticket, if you're writing an email you can write a ticket. B) Monitor a mailbox and auto-generate tickets based on inbound mails for those users that really can't get their heads around the concept that if you have an issue you go to support.mycompany.com and fill in the box. From your description you're having users email the desk, and then having a human read each one and manually raise a ticket on behalf of the user.

    • I've never even heard of this browser before seeing this article. How does it differ from other browsers?
    • Fixing things? Have you ever tried linux? Everything works out of the box nowadays in most common hardware. This includes Wifi and Bluetooth. If anything, if they return back to windows is because they haven't found an equivalent program which often used on windows.
