Finally, IE8 feels quite good. Here are my thought.

Rendering & Javscript Speed - definate improvement. I think it is on par with Firefox 2. But still slower then Firefox 3. Since firefox 3.1 will get tracemoney which is a lot faster. I think we will need beta 3 for performance improvement again.

CSS - Much better, although i think we could do better with CSS 2.1. And at least get some 30 - 40 points on the ACID3.

Scorlling - Not smooth. I would love to see improvement here. Firefox 3 isn't any good either in this respect.

Built in Dictionary would be nice.

Since IE is built into Windows. I expect to see some serious advantage for Startup speed compare to pther brower. And yet there isn't any.

i has problems with some Flash sites making even the mouse very slow in them

for example in trophymanager.com in Team Squad or Team Tactics that all is made in flash to select the players

also when opening a new tab its very slow (2-5secs), even worse than ie7

also many sites has rendering problems (like many already told)

but...it still slow in javascript against FF3, its a shame, lets see if it improves, once example of it is the wow home page -> www.worldofwarcraft.com/index.xml , way too slow still in IE8 (a little better than IE7 although) against FF

Having basic copy and paste issues over here. Can't even copy links and paste them in the address bar. What the hell? Just brings the entire browser down but I've been saved because once one tab crashed and only it crashed and turned white. That is nice. Still, the copy and paste thing crashing is pretty unreal.

The View Source now brings up numbers on the line to see where an error may be found. I guess it's more geared for developers but it's nice to see it exists.

Let's put it this way, it still needs work hence the beta. It's nice though and the colors go all the way to purple. Not really sure why people thought green, yellow, and red meant the page was getting worse or something. It's just for organizing I think.

I finally got this to install. After rebooting into safe mode a couple time and seeing what was up, I just extraced the files to a folder, ran the standalone installer, which finally installed some update that IE8 B2 needed to even install, and IE8 installed fine.

So far, way way better than B1 that's for sure. Only problem I have, is the random (and quite often) crashing. Other than that, looks great, runs great and I love the new UI features.

Internet Explorer Beta 2 won't start for me. I've installed/uninstalled it three times already and once I click on the icon (any icon) to start it it opens for half a second and then closes. I've reset IE8 and 7 to all default settings and I've uninstalled many add-ons and toolbars figuring that would fix the issue but no luck. I can get into the settings via the control panel but nothing I have changed there works. I've tried no add-on mode with no luck. I've also tried getting rid of the discuss office toolbar and that didn't work either. I don't know what else to do. My system is a P4 3GHz 2GB DDR running WinXP Pro SP3. It seems to install fine but refuses to start for more then a half a second. When I click the start icon the iexplore.exe shows for a split second in the windows task manager. I'm lost...

And how exactly would you download Firefox on a new computer, then?

Microsoft should include a wizard driven dialog which lets the user choose between the three top browsers: IE, Firefox or Opera.

Built in Dictionary would be nice.

I can't believe Microsoft forgot this feature.

Interesting to see they ripped the awesomebar :p

That's what Microsoft does well. Rip ideas and make them their own.

IMO Firefox still does the awesomebar better.

I don't think "top Firefox" is anything near what IE8 has promised :p

the only thing they promised is that IE8 will top IE7

Secretly, I think. Microsoft wants to top Firefox. But it's not happening with IE8. ;)

so far so good, and i can even use my IEpro7 preferential feautures.

IE7Pro and Internet Explorer 8 - What happens next?

Hello Users,

We all know that Microsoft has released a beta of the next version of Internet Explorer i.e. IE8. Many of you have started topics asking what will happen next to IE7Pro and will there be a name change. I had a talk with the developers, and here is what is going to happen next.

The current build of IE7Pro i.e. 2.1 is already working in a reduced functionality mode with IE8. Some features are working and understandably, some are not. Although complete compatibility with IE8 may take some time, but by the time IE8 is released, IE7Pro should be ready for it. But the good news is that, the developers will be starting work on making IE7Pro IE8 compatible, and you can expect to see better functionality of IE7Pro on IE8 in the next beta itself!

As for the name, yes there will be a name change. As most of you would have guessed it by checking the installation directory of the new builds of IE7Pro, the new name will be IEPro. But the name change will not take place in the next release as of now. It will be completed before IE8 is released.

very nice, installed with no issues on my vista business SP1, one interesting thing i found when right clicking anywhere in the menu area is a line that reads home server banner? it looks like an add in? and I get a blue banner across the top of my browser, maybe cause I do have a windows home server running? anyone else see this? doesn't seem to do anything.

time to play!

Well Firefox copied it's features from all over the place (e.g. yellow info bar from IE)...honestly who cares? both are pretty good browsers!

I tried it inside a virtual machine and i must say.. boy am i impressed.

It seems to be a real big step forward from ie7. a very nice piece of work. lol

unfortunately for me too the private browsing aka porn mode was a little buggy. it worked eventually though.

Any ideas on where you can save tabs so they will be displayed when open up IE next time. Read in help that when you close IE there is an option to save tabs, but I do not see that option. Ideas..

the tabs are automatically saved when closing IE, there's no option for it.

the next time you open IE, click the New Tab button, and there's a Reopen Last Browsing Session link, click it and all the tabs open before you last close IE will open in new tabs.

just notice something funny, just after mere days Mozilla Labs posted something about New Tab Concepts, IE8b2 comes out with non-blank new tabs that somewhat realizes the "Contextual New-Tab Actions" idea. Now if IE8b2 was indeed leaked days ago, maybe Mozilla Labs steals their "New Tab Concepts" from IE8b2? (this is joking of course :p)

Well, I still like Opera's Speed Dial better, but then IE8's New Tab Page is nice too ;)

Ok splicer cut your bull**** now,if microsoft wants to top Firefox now, they can do it instantly!,this is called strategy, they let the market mature, evolve, the BAM!

Don't remember the IE/Netscape war?

Who beat down the Firefox ancestors: IE

If Bill Gates lifts up his phone and tell Tony chor to beat Firefox and Opera, they are are out of business instantly, like taking a photograph,CLICK!

I think this is a bug, double clik on tab and that Ugly box appears.I hate that box :p

    • Most boring game ever. Repetitive, empty, predictable, and full of cliches. Total waste of time and money, IMO.
    • Mafia: The Old Country expansion Man of Honor announced, brings back Salieri from original by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe During Summer Game Fest, 2K and Hanger 13 brought out a new Mafia: The Old Country trailer, revealing the game's first expansion. Named Man of Honor, this is slated to add two new chapters to the Enzo storyline that the game follows. There is an iconic character returning to the series with this expansion, with players set to run into Ennio Salieri, the future Don of the Salieri crime family. Fans of the original Mafia, or its Definitive Edition remake, may remember that name as one of the biggest characters in the storyline. This expansion is set prior to his rise to being the kingpin in the City of Lost Heaven. "Set in Sicily during the winter of 1905, Enzo Favara has proven himself a reliable soldier of the Torrisi crime family in the months since his initiation," says the studio about the new chapters. "Now, the Don entrusts him and Cesare with a delicate assignment of assisting Ennio Salieri, a man of honor recently released from prison and intent on reclaiming what is his." Working at Salieri's side, players will be heading into fresh environments as they return to the role of Enzo as a high-ranking soldato. The studio also promises brand-new weapons, fresh vehicles, and charms to collect in this expansion. Moreover, the expansion will add new content to the updated Free Ride mode. Alongside new collectibles and locations, this will add more challenges to beat alongside Salieri, which are described as runs that will "test the skills of even the most elite mafiosi." The Mafia: The Old Country Man of Honor story expansion will release on August 14, 2026, across PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5. It will cost $10 for owners of the base game to jump into.

    • Telltale returns with The Wolf Among Us, re-revealing the sequel and a new remaster by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Telltale Games, the studio known for its episodic games from the 2000s, had a surprise appearance at the Summer Game Fest showcase today. The studio has gone through a collapse, an acquisition, and a revival but has largely gone silent in recent years. Today's sudden announcement was for the popular The Wolf Among Us series, with news about the sequel and a remaster dropping. Set after the events of the 2013-released title, the sequel will bring back Biby Wolf for a new adventure in Fabletown. This town of fairy tale characters is becoming unstable, with Snow White not being able to keep order as before. "When a brutal series of crimes threatens to fracture the fragile balance holding Fabletown together, Bigby Wolf, sheriff of Fabletown, finds himself drawn into a dangerous conspiracy that reaches deep into the city’s criminal underworld," says the studio. "As suspicion spreads across the city and powerful forces work against him, Bigby must uncover the truth and decide what kind of sheriff - and what kind of wolf - he is willing to become." At the same time, Telltale also announced The Wolf Among Us Remastered, bringing back the classic with a fresh coat of paint. This will include all five episodes from the original game plus over an hour of extra content that will offer behind-the-scenes videos, cast interviews, image galleries, and deleted scenes. The remaster will also have updated visuals and improved UI elements and accessibility features, alongside upgrades to the animations, audio, and frame rates. Telltale has been working on this project for almost a decade now, but if the new release schedule holds, fans will be able to jump into The Wolf Among Us 2 sometime in 2027. As for The Wolf Among Us Remastered, this is slated to release during this holiday season.
