Srugie Veteran Posted August 29, 2008 Veteran Share Posted August 29, 2008 So my TF2 game works perfectly but when I exit my game, it exits normally then i get the message hl2.exe stopped working and it continues to report the issue. Does anyone know how to fix this problem? Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/662992-tf2-problem/ Share on other sites

Minifig
I kinda like getting it. It lets me know that my computers fully done shutting down TF2 and then I can go back to doing whatever I want to do.. Though I have a feeling if I didn't get the error, the computer would return to normal faster... so it's kind of a miss placed hyperbole placebo effect. Uhhh, no... when this happens the memory TF2 was using doesn't get properly released. After months of nagging we finally got a Valve programmer to acknowledge it, supposed to be fixed in a future release but not ETA given. Any time an app fails to unload properly the potential exist to create issues, some of you should raise your standards and expect more from app devs, Valve has let this go for far too long. It usually does return faster, because if an error occurred, it makes a error report on the disk (memory dump or something like that) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/662992-tf2-problem/#findComment-589722210 Share on other sites

The_Decryptor Veteran Posted September 1, 2008 Veteran Share Posted September 1, 2008 All memory is released when an app exists, if it isn't then the operating system itself has a bug. ozgeek
Used to get the error on Vista but not anymore as I have returned to XP and don't get any errors anymore so I assume it is to do with incompatibility on Vista.
