Taking some hardware with me while travelling, thoughts?

Recommended Posts

What's up,

I'm traveling soon and I'm taking some hardware with me. The hardware I'm taking is the following:

1) Motherboard

2) Ram

3) Graphics card

4) Some other stuff

I'm mostly concerned about the Mobo and the graphics card as they're really expensive.

So I'm looking for ideas on the best way to wrap the stuff so they don't get damaged while the peeps over the airport are handling the baggage ( or inside of the plane ).

The ideas I thought about so far are:

1) Bubble Wrap

2) Getting an empty plastic suitcase ( like those drilling-guns suitcases ) for each piece

What do you guys think? I'm really afraid of this thing as they might be damaged easily... Anybody tried to do this before?

Many thanks in advance,

I'm not planning on shipping via Fedex as I'm not really carrying anything with me and my bag will have lots of space and I'm still not really sure of the specific destination, so I'd rather take the stuff with me.

The downside of the bubble-wrap that I thought of, is that the capacitors might get bent or something ? I'm really not sure...

If anybody have suggestions, please do share :p

Boxes that fit the hardware, foam, bubble wrap and just some newspaper/excess foam to keep everything under pressure so it doesn't move around.

( Pretty much pack it like in its original state ) Should keep it safe, even allow it to take some punishment without having to worry.
