0 Stryder68
I was a die hard Netscape user through the 4.X era. Did not use anything else. I have used a lot of other browsers since then, including some that are not on that list. But I always come back to IE. There is always one thing or another that really bothers me about the others that sends me back to IE. For now, my vote goes to IE. 0 Angel Blue01
IE 6. Been using IE since my ISP told me to use IE 3. I have Mozilla, and use it when I have problems in IE, and to test pages. But I can never use it soley. Until Mozilla supports all of IE's brower specific code extentions, I'll not even consider it. Besides, Mozilla (and Netscape before it) had to manually adjusted before any embedded content can be seen. IE just uses the Windows Registry, so its automatic. Until that changes, I'll stick to IE. 0 Stryder68
This is definitely an over done poll.MyIE2 though. http://myie2.yeah.net I agree it pops up alot, but with how quickly everything in the browser world is evolving you almost need to bring it up every month or so. I just wish the people who are using non IE browsers would post a little information on what they are using. Like latest build, website, features that made them choose that browser over IE, etc, not just opinions. Inform us, share the knowledge!!! 0 NeoMayhem
Opera 7.03, It is smaller, faster, looks nicer and has more features then IE :p I cant think of one reason people would use IE, it looks like crap, and has no good features, plus it is slow :p Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/66363-internet-browsers/#findComment-685201 Share on other sites
0 neoufo51
SLOW??? Wake the F*** up, man! Everybody knows IE6 is still the fastest browser out there. Opera is still slower than Mozilla 1.4alpha even, which by the way is looking to change A LOT of people's minds about Mozillas speed. From C/NET... In both our official and informal tests, Opera 7 generally loaded HTML pages a mite faster than Netscape and slower than IE. We're not too surprised by this result. For reasons perhaps known only to Microsoft, no third-party browser has been able to catch up with IE's outstanding page-display speed. But in the race for second place, Opera held its own, and in most of our key HTML tests, it even managed to edge out Netscape 7.0.1. We were a bit disappointed in Opera's JavaScript execution times, but the rarity of lengthy, complex JavaScript code will ward off any serious delays in day-to-day use. 0 kujemer
I agree with NeoMayhem. Opera has the best features in every browser I have used, the wand which is a password manager, mouse gestures (my favorite) etc. Has skinnable interface. Faster then most of the browsers. So even thought has the smallest size of all is feature packed and eye pleasing. 0 razar
Opera 7.03, It is smaller, faster, looks nicer and has more features then IE :pI cant think of one reason people would use IE, it looks like crap, and has no good features, plus it is slow :p For the record: I am using Phoenix right now but plan on going back to mozilla. I need an email client.:D 1. IE is not slow, if it is something is wrong with your system. It's tied into windows, so if windows is messed up so will be your browsing XPerience.. :) 2. Who cares if Opera or Phoenix is smaller on the windows platform, IE is still eating up resources (space/Memory) in the background. So, the smaller faster excuse is weak since you can't get rid of IE. No removing access to it does not mean it's gone, maybe not you but it's sad some people think that. :( Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/66363-internet-browsers/#findComment-685738 Share on other sites
0 KayMan2K
IE is prone to more spyware, invisible installs, no download management. It may be of decent speed - however, Opera can render pages quicker than IE. Opera gives you more control over your browser than IE. 0 kujemer
For those that still believe IE is the fastest browser, and for proof of why I use MyIE2. I don't know if I would consider MyIE2 a browser because is completely based in IE. Uses the IE folders, sounds, bookmarks, cookies. It doesn't even have an installer. I don't think that anyone is capable of creating a browser 600kb and that does not depend in IE. It's just like netcaptor. 0 razar
I hate defending IE, but here it goes. IE is prone to more spyware, invisible installs, Turn off ActiveX, no matter what M$ says it's not your friend. :D no download management. Many free ware download managers for I.E. Does not need to be built in, because so many available. It may be of decent speed - however, Opera can render pages quicker than IE. Can't say your wrong. Opera gives you more control over your browser than IE. I.E. has tons of setting people fail to use, because the control panel is so idiot proof that it's confusing.:D Edited March 16, 2003 by razar Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/66363-internet-browsers/#findComment-685779 Share on other sites
