Gears Of War 2 not coming to PC

Recommended Posts

In a conversation regarding Gears 1 achievements (360 & PC) unlocking content in Gears 2; Cliff Bleszinski revealed that unlike Gears 1, Gears 2 will not be getting a PC version later.

"Cliff: You can unlock these characters in Gears 2 if you earn the Achievements in Gears 1 through Xbox 360 or PC, provided you are using the same Gamertag.

Does this mean you are planning a Windows version of "Gears of War 2"?

Cliff: Gears of War is a great franchise first and foremost for Xbox 360, and therefore we're focusing on that platform for Gears of War 2. We've decided we're not going to do a PC version this time around."

I don't know If this has been posted or not before so I'm sorry If it's but I just felt really disappointed about this so had to post it. :(

Neither was Halo/Halo2/Gears of War probably :p

Might be true actually, but it might not be - Makes no sense what so ever to draw attention away from the 360 by saying there will be a PC version coming for now.

I never played Gears Of War on the 360, played about 30 Minutes worth on the PC, never finished it, is that because it sucked, I don't think so, but I didn't see the amazing stuff I hear people talking about it for. I knew when Gears Of War 2 was coming that at the very best the PC version would take awhile, so it's not that much of a let down.

I didnt play the PC version but was it like Halo PC? Halo was just too easy to play on the PC with a mouse, everything was slow and easy to kill.

I played Halo 2 on the 360 and PC, I don't think they were that much different, just keyboard and mouse is a bit easier.

Doesn't bother me. It felt better on the 360, IMO. I just hope Epic makes a singleplayer FPS for the PC soon.

I don't see why they'd bother anyway. I have a hard time believing that they'd make much more on porting it to the PC compared to how much it'd cost to port it.

I won't miss it on PC. I is/was designed for consoles. It just does not "work" on a PC.

Gears 1 felt mostly fine to me on the pc. The only thing that was bad about it were the glaring bugs and my then under-specced pc.

No. Halo is and always has been slow and easy. If anything the pc just helped make it more noticeable.

On the no gears 2 for pc bit though..: I can say i'm not surprised. Epic is a console company now. You can tell that by UT3 alone, as it's a console to pc port. So it's no surprise they've forgotten about their "bread and butter" that's gotten them this far.

I think it's safe to say that Epic has pretty much abandoned the PC at this point. From CliffyB's comments about the PC being "in a state of disarray" (link here) to this, they've pretty much committed themselves to making big budget games tailored to console crowds.

That said, I have faith that the PC will do just fine without Epic. With big companies like Blizzard and Valve alongside the hundreds of independent studios, I'm not particularly worried.

Can't say I agree otherwise I don't see why they would bother releasing UT3. Sure it was on consoles too but its a series that was and still is "tailored" to the pc more so than consoles. They're just branching out, I don't think they are giving up on the PC.

I also fully expect to see GoW2 on PC at some point.

I hope it's coming out for the PC because I don't have a Xbox 360! Despite what people have been saying for the past few years about PC gaming dying, it hasn't happened and I would much prefer to game on my notebook as I can play any time I want, such as during lunch breaks or on the train back home.

Scirwode

Still is tailored to the pc? Did they make another version of ut after #3 that i didn't notice? Cause that sure doesn't fit with ut3. Console style UI, slowed down gameplay and movement, increased damage across the board, increased focus/ease of use on spammy weapons, the stuff i heard about the headshot hitbox on your target actually getting bigger if you stand still, and so on. Those are all things that would be done to tailor it to the console, not the pc, as games need to be easier/simpler for the masses to buy. Look at halo as an example if you disagree with that final statement.

I was looking forward to the PC release, as well as the X360 release, of Gears of War 2. A PC release for a game like GoW usually means extra content since it's released way after the console version.

    • This is weird. Mythos is more unrestricted compared to Fable. Technically it poses more risk!!
    • This is a great thing, I always have issues with Verizon while inside of certain football stadiums due to the saturation and walls blocking signal so a LOS way to connect would be great. Verizon was supposed to be offering sat data this year but I've not heard a word of it lately. Dude is sending rockets into space in a cheap manner, low waste foot print and has a great product with solar/battery tech. We would be so far behind China right now if not for him and a push to get back into space.
    • illegally? Proof of that? Seems you are posting misinformation or well a pure straight up lie cause there is zero proof of such a thing. But I get it...
