OS X Rot?

My Mac never shuts down, it's always asleep.

Anyways, after using my Mac for a few hours the genie minimize effect starts getting laggy until I completely restart, but then it only lasts about 2 hours until the problem comes back. I've tried running Onyx and checking any memory leaks, but so far nothing. This has happened for as long as I've had my Mac, just recently started getting bothered by it since it's become more frequent. Any ideas?

What software/services you running? Check activity monitor and your login items.

I can be running absolutely nothing and the lag will still be there. Running Leopard 10.5.4.

Make a new user account and let it sit and see if it does the same thing.

I am not sure, but maybe you should check your temperatures when you get this lags again.

I'd also check your Dock--did you mod it or such?

Dock is 100% stock. Removed Office (I have iWork to replace it) and Mac Messenger, kept Logitech Control Center because of my mouse.... Still having the same problem...

I use USB Overdrive instead of LCC--it's always given me problems. You can't try a new account and see?

Update: Made a new account, logged into it, no more lag.

Logged out and back into my normal account, no more lag...?!

Not to attempt to discourage the Microsoft hate here, but the background Google crap and a torrent client, which can thrash the harddrive quite a bit, can cause their fair share of lagginess in the UI.

Hopefully the lag doesn't come back, but I doubt it. Also, I doubt Transmission is the culprit, downloads are only at 50kbps, and Google notifier is handy.
