Which is the Best Media [Video] Player?

Question

Hello People,

Until now I was using Media Player Classic and I am totally bored with it and looking for something better

first thing first I need a Video Player (I wouldn't mind if it could play Audio as a well in order to be used as a universal player) which is approtiate for me since I am an Anime-fan also I would like it to give the best graphics the video can show and also I can open mp4/ogm files.

I don't mind if the player is not freeware. If it is worth it I might as well buy it!

There was an international survey of everyone that ever mattered upon this subject and it was conclusively proven that ARPMagic Player was the best player possible. I think the presentation was done at the 2008 Media Player Developer Awards. It was pretty great. I believe it was suggested that any further polls would be highly frowned upon.

/me pays a dollar to never see any more "Which is the best ...." threads where people just name random application names :)

as i mentioned elsewhere, i now use smplayer.

i've used vlc, mpc, and the kmplayer before, and i've tried many others, but smplayer seems to be the best. here are my reasons:

1. smaller than vlc and kmplayer.

2. plays more files than mpc and on par with vlc and kmplayer. no need for extra codecs (as with mpc).

3. the portable version does not create registry keys (like kmplayer) or useless directories (like vlc and mpc).

4. loads more quickly than any of the alternatives.

5. pauses instantaneously (not like vlc).

6. automatically loads subtitle files.

7. less clunky than vlc and kmplayer (feels more responsive).

ive tried em all

VLC seeks faster through videos..but it doenst sync up right away..itll start playing audio and youll have no video for a few secs..so thats pointless..but its really light weight

MPC plays everythin, and my only complaint is that it can crash here and there(at least for me)

GOM has worked great for me..but ive found a few mkv's it wont play for me for some reason

Im using GOM now personally, it works great

i dont think anyone can tell you want youll like more, you should probably try all 3

I've tried VLC, GOM, and KMPlayer. I'll vote for KMPlayer :) It looks great. It works great. I can open all files with it. I can use <- and -> keypad arrow to find the frame I want easily. I can use CTRL-] and [ to adjust the subtitle positioning easily. I can use CTRL PageUp and PageDown for Brightness settings.

KMPlayer is just GREAT :D

I recommend SMPlayer, it uses MPC as it's core and supports everything VLC does. It also has support for Real files.

I agree, its self contained not messing up the OS. It does an okay job with playlists, but I didn't feel VLC was better. I find I'm getting better quality playback on it too.
