I thought you can talk about it on Neowin now?

By that I mean running OSX on non-native hardware -

https://www.neowin.net/forum/lofiversion/in...hp/t639781.html

I've heard more than one person say, "it's OK now." The thing is, I don't really know and do not want another warning for talking about OS ::no carrier::

In any case, you're looking for a DUAL BOOT solution, whether it be *unix, linux, etc ... Acronis OS Selector will do the trick, or if you want something more in depth, GRUB.

Don't install another OS on the same partition as Windows, it needs its own, at least 10gb, and you should format it to the native file system before installing.

I think that's a pretty general bit of info, nothing risque there?

it is installed on is installed on a partion that doesn't have windows on it. if windows was C:, this would be E:. would the formatting of the drive need to be specific, cause i think it is formatted FAT 32.

its easier to install it to a different HDD but it is possible to install it on the same drive you just need something like grub to point where to boot from.

google some guides im sure there are heaps.

this is also good to look at.

you will find a lot of information at the x86 forums. if you bought osx yourself and have a dvd of the installation, then it won't work on windows anyways, not sure how you got it installed. you need to patch it and recompile the image with windows drivers and other things to make it install right.

wiki.osx86project.org is the place to find more information on that.

are you kidding me? I BOUGHT IT, how is this illegal? and why the hell are you so self righteous? let me guess you are some mac fanboy? or some motherf**ing prick that works for apple trolling the forums looking for someone like me trying to get some damn help, trying to get some **** done in my life and you are here ****ing it all up. thanks.

ps. **** you.

We're just follow neowin rules, Too bad! Your swear isn't good for your brain. Go back to school and learn how to be nice to talk about it.

Now....Pi, sorry i cant say that. However you know what im gonna say.

ps: im still laugh at your face.

if you actually READ the agreement in the box, you will see you need Mac Hardware to isntall it, OSX is not like windows, it is not a Common Generic PC Compatible OS, it is a proprietary OS like PalmOS.

you cannot isntall it because you do not have the compatible system requirements ( AKA a MAC )

and as a direct response, it doesn't matter if you were an idiot and bought it, and caling people a Fanboy just shows that you are to stupid to even come up with a decent rebuttal, and what exactially are you trying to get done in your life that you need to install OSX on a PC, because you havent yet figured out how to use google, im shure you havent gotten the inkling that everything on the MAC has a direct equivalent on the PC.

lol i hope your joking, you actually can get help here for this now.

When the hell did they change their opinions on that here? I thought this place walked on eggshells about anything even remotely related to anything illegal?

they changed their stance when they got on Psystars side, they are using the same EULA lawsuit back in the Pre Windows days i think that says cant Tie Software to Hardware.

way i see it, is its Apple's OS, they can do what they want with it, if they want to Tie their OS to their hardware they can

Blackberry does it and even requires their own Server software, Palm does it with PalmOS. Only reason Apple is getting flac is because people are desperate for alternatives due to Vista ( still have no idea why people hate vista, its a good OS).

If you're using Vista - use EasyBCD to create the bootloader.

There are plenty of guides for dual booting out there though, they're all pretty easy to follow, shouldn't be too much trouble.

Thanks! I haven't even heard of this, I was doing it manually :)

Thread Cleaned

Before several people go trolling the "rules" again, please read this thread: https://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=639781. Installing OSX on non-Apple hardware is indeed a breach of the EULA, however, policing the EULA is a civil matter, not a legal one, therefore it is not illegal to install OSX on non-Apple hardware.

Dont bait him into saying that hes not using the legitimate OSX DVD, you and i both know what he is insinuating.

Agreed. This "Install from partition" obviously means "downloaded", not "bought the boxed set, but wanted to rip it to my hard drive for giggles".

And his post

shows a lack of maturity and self-control.

    • O&O ShutUp10 3.1.1104 by Razvan Serea O&O ShutUp10 offers a simple yet effective way to take control of your Windows privacy. It provides access to almost 50 privacy-related tweaks, most of them hidden or not easily accessible to the average computer users. Using a very simple interface, you decide how Windows 10/11 should respect your privacy by deciding which unwanted functions should be deactivated. Using ShutUp10 you can easily disable Windows Defender, turn off telemetry, disable peer-to-peer updates, turn off Wi-Fi Sense, disable automatic Windows updates, turn off and reset Cortana and more. ShutUp10 allows you to create a System Restore point before you apply any changes, so that you can revert your system at any time if you run into problems. O&O ShutUp10 is entirely free and does not have to be installed – it can be simply run directly and immediately on your PC. And it will not install or download retrospectively unwanted or unnecessary software, like so many other programs do these days! O&O ShutUp10 Free and Premium The latest version brings O&O ShutUp10 Premium, expanding the app’s long-standing privacy controls with automatic enforcement of user-defined settings. Instead of manually rechecking options after every Windows update, users can set their preferred privacy configuration once—or apply recommended settings in a single click—and the tool continuously monitors them in the background. If Windows 10 or 11 re-enables disabled features or introduces new data collection paths, Premium restores the chosen settings automatically without user intervention. The free version remains available and fully functional for manual adjustments, offering the same core privacy controls for Windows. However, the Premium tier is aimed at users who want long-term, hands-off protection, adding automatic reapplication after updates, ongoing monitoring, and optional notifications to ensure privacy settings remain consistent over time. • Fascinating...W h i t e P o w e r is now also asterisks out.
    • In the past few days I have noticed two odd moderation activities. First, when I posted the term 'White Nationist Christian' it was asterisk's out. When I changed it to **** it was allowed! Second, in the Politics is a ###business thread I was allowed to post that the GOP is a party of p e d ophiles but I was censored  when I posted the GOP are a party of p e d ophile protectors. Wtf Neowin. Please explain.
