i've been studying Confucius and Lao Tzu lately

and im wondering what sayings do you live by.

such as

"This is your life, and its ending one minute at a time"

- Tyler Durden, Fight Club

If you aren't doing something that you may regret later, you obviously aren't risking enough.

Anything else from Fight Club or Chuck Palahniuk

'You have to realise that one day you will die, until you do that you are useless'

'You're not how much money you've got in the bank. You're not your job. You're not your family, and you're not who you tell yourself.... You're not your name.... You're not your problems.... You're not your age.... You are not your hopes.'

'You are not a beautiful and unique snowflake. You are the same decaying organic matter as everyone else, and we are all part of the same compost pile.'

'It's only after you've lost everything, that you're free to do anything.'

'Maybe self-destruction is the answer'

'I just don't want to die without a few scars'

'"If you don't know what you want, you end up with a lot you don't.'

'Our Generation has had no Great war, no Great Depression. Our war is spiritual. Our depression is our lives.'

'"The liberator who destroys my property is fighting to save my spirit. The teacher who clears all possessions from my path will set me free.'

I won't even begin to correct those quotes from Fight Club :p

"I dream because I want to succeed...and I will succeed because I dream" - Anonymous

It is easier to fight for one's principles than to live up to them. (Alfred Adler) The thought manifests as the word; the word manifests as the deed; the deed develops into habit; and habit hardens into character; so watch the thought and its ways with care, and let it spring from love born out of concern for all beings… as the shadow follows the body, as we think, so we become. (Buddha) Men acquire a particular quality by constantly acting a particular way… you become just by performing just actions, temperate by performing temperate actions, brave by performing brave actions. (Aristotle)

I count him braver who overcomes his desires than him who overcomes his enemies. (Aristotle) Any intelligent fool can make things bigger, more complex, and more violent. It takes a touch of genius—and a lot of courage—to move in the opposite direction. (E.F. Schumacker) Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication. (Leonardo DaVinci) As you simplify your life, the laws of the universe will be simpler; solitude will not be solitude, poverty will not be poverty, nor weakness weakness. (Henry David Thoreau) By desiring little, a poor man makes himself rich. (Democritus) Content makes poor men rich; discontentment makes rich men poor. (Benjamin Franklin) Wisdom outweighs any wealth. (Sophocles) Manifest plainness, embrace simplicity, reduce selfishness, have few desires. (Lao-tzu) The happiness of a man in this life does not consist in the absence but in the mastery of his passions. (Alfred Lord Tennyson)

The 'you are not your job' one is from memory but the others are correct, apart from some of them have things like 'Tyler says' and other lines of text missing from in between. They're from the book.

Ah, never read the book - they are slightly off from the movie, though. For example:

'You are not a beautiful and unique snowflake. You are the same decaying organic matter as everyone else, and we are all part of the same compost pile.'

should be

'You are not a beautiful and unique snowflake. You are the same decaying organic matter as everyone else. We are all a part of the same compost heap.'

Never, never, never give up.

Winston Churchill

This quote means literally everything to me. Having recently gone through an extremely dark chapter in my life, I rely on these words every day. For about a year now, I have had this quote as the background on my PC and my iphone, so I see it many times per day. When I think about what Churchill and his country were going through during WWII, and his courage under those circumstances, it makes my own struggles seem smaller. I'm a pretty young guy, but WWII has always inspired me because of his kind of bravery, and for me, his quote just sums up the entire war.

"No smoke without fire".

I held that very true and 100% believed it.

I was then casually accused of "forcing myself" upon a girl. OK, fine nobody believed her, she had a history of it. But I felt conflicted because I knew I had done no wrong, but then started questioning myself...

Then I realised, the fire was her!

    • Password Safe 3.72.0 by Razvan Serea Password Safe is a password database utility. Like many other such products, commercial and otherwise, it stores your passwords in an encrypted file, allowing you to remember only one password (the "safe combination"), instead of all the username/password combinations that you use. Once stored, your user names and passwords are just a few clicks away. Using Password Safe you can organize your passwords using your own customizable references—for example, by user ID, category, web site, or location. You can choose to store all your passwords in a single encrypted master password list (an encrypted password database), or use multiple databases to further organize your passwords (work and home, for example). And with its intuitive interface you will be up and running in minutes. PasswordSafe was originally designed by the renowned security technologist Bruce Schneier and released as a free utility application. Password Safe 3.72.0 changelog: Fixed bugs Improved font scale handling - should resolve font size issues on high resolution displays. GH1749 In the Master Password Setup window, "Show Master Password" is no longer truncated on some displays. GH1092, SF1595 Size and position of main window is now correctly restored on scaled displays. New features GH1196 Dark display mode support: Password Safe now supports the system display mode, as well as setting the mode directly via Manage->Options->Display->Display Mode. This change also updates the general "look & feel" of the app to the current Windows theme. Known limitations: The Date picker and keyboard shortcut controls do not switch to dark theme The Customize Toolbar dialog does not switch to dark theme Custom Field support has been added to the more advanced features: Filters XML and Text import and export Comparison, Sync and Merge databases SF938 Custom field values may now be selected by name and copied via a "Copy Custom Field Value..." submenu in the entry context popup menu. • I've got a SoundBlasterX G6 that I use in my streaming setup. Sounds great to me and I've had zero issues with the ancient software package so far in Win11. That G6 has 7.1, Dolby, fully working SPDIF and since it's a USB device it's outside of my rig so I don't have to worry about EMF distortion. Looks like for now this is a pass for me as I think I have better hardware....
    • How do you connect 5.1 Speakers to this thing?
    • I agree with both of you... It's absolutely imperative that science is completely based on actual proven facts and hard evidence and is not considered dogmatic in any way. Science is not a religion and it will never be, and that's exactly how it's supposed to be.
