Anyone else try the Pure demo?

It's that horrid "super-shiny light" effect that games started going crazy with a couple years ago. The one that makes things appear to have some kind of aura/halo around them.

pffffft! whenever a new technology comes out for games, such as the HDR effect, then game companies go nuts over using it. kinda like doctors who over prescribe anti biotics and now the foreign agents are getting immune to anti biotics. same premise.

So we're getting immune to HDR?

:p

I tried it out earlier, and it just feels like a cheap MotorStorm imitation. The tricks are meaningless as well. Disney just tried to combine MotorStorm with SSX, and they've failed.

You do realize that Disney only published this, yes? Black Rock Studio, the guys responsible for the ATV Offroad Fury franchise are behind this, a game that was out before both MotorStorm and SSX.

Good visuals - quite a decent ride. Only thing I have an issue is the control system (i didnt check whether it can be changed). But the "preloading" thing by pressing down on the stick seems unnatural - by default I keep feeling like pressing up. Pressing up would give the motion of leaning forward and pushing more weight on the front, then by pulling back you get more air when you jump. Thats how I think they should have done the controls anyway!

I liked it but not enough to purchase it. At least not for now, I may pick it up cheaper sometime down the line. Right now though there is far too many games on my wanted list.

Better than Motorstorm imo, but didn't have the fun element of SSX.

What we really need is a new SSX.

+1

i was just talking with some friends about this the other day and it was one of my favourite games on the last generation consoles and i don't know why one hasnt come out this generation

on topic: planning to play this game later, watching dark knight again first :)

I think there was one released for the wii, but it just looked like SSX 3 with motion controls. I've been hoping for a new SSX since the 360 launch, why they waste their time with the stupid wii instead of releasing a proper sequel is beyond me.

I could probably report your post for that, but I'm not going to be that petty. Any particular reason you felt it was inadequate to phrase this along the lines of "I'd prefer to see a sequel for the PS3 or 360 instead?"

I'm in the same boat as Munky (promise I wont bail and land it on your head this time ... private joke :)) I liked the demo, but not enough to actually buy the game just yet, maybe wait till it drops in price or as pre-owned.

TBH I thought the videos of it released thus far were pretty dire, but I decided to give it a go this evening and it was actually quite fun. Demo was quite abrupt too, finish the race and then it just dumps you out, no option to try again. I'm also unsure of the longevity of it overall :(

    • Citizen Sleeper and Robobeat are free to claim on the Epic Games Store by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe PC gamers have two more games they can add to their library without needing to open their wallets, as the Epic Games Store's freebie offer has just refreshed. That means last week's Warhammer 40K Speed Freeks and The Ouroboros King offer has been replaced by two new games, which happen to be Robobeat and Citizen Sleeper copies. From the duo, Robobeat lands from developer Simon Fredholm, offering a rhythm-based action game. Released only last year, the title puts you into the shoes of Ace, a bounty hunter that's targeting the robot showman Frazzer. The fast-paced title offers movement techniques like wall-running, sliding, and bunny hopping to zoom around while shooting enemies, but the requirement is doing everything to the beat. Outside of built-in tracks, the title also lets players upload their own music to populate its levels too. Next, Citizen Sleeper lands from Jump Over The Age, a sci-fi RPG adventure taking place in a ruined space station where thousands of people are trying to survive. The tabletop RPG-inspired title uses things like dice and clocks to change how the player approaches situations and survives their day-to-day lives. There is a large range of characters to meet with in the station, each with their own storylines and alliances. "You are a sleeper, a digitised human consciousness in an artificial body, owned by a corporation that wants you back," says the developer about the setting. "Thrust amongst the unfamiliar and colourful inhabitants of the Eye, you need to build friendships, earn your keep, and navigate the factions of this strange metropolis, if you hope to survive to see the next cycle." The Citizen Sleeper and Robobeat giveaways are set to run until June 25 on the Epic Games Store, giving PC gamers seven days to claim the latest offer. Once this closes out, new freebies will take its place on the same day. They are supposed to be copies of RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 and Voidwrought. Don't forget that mobile gamers can check out the Epic Game Store's weekly giveaways on Android and iOS to grab a freebie there as well.
    • Vivaldi version 8.0.4033.50 released June 17: https://vivaldi.com/blog/desktop/minor-update-eight-8-0/
    • The Online part hasn't even been announced and probably won't be included on day one. This is a massive singleplayer game.
    • While I agree with all that, it just proves there's an a** built for every seat.
