What a complete waste of money.

Couldn't have said it better. Microsoft went far out of their way in order to get a celebrity to endorse their product and churned out one of the worst commercials I've seen in recent memory.

I don't particularly like Apple's ads, but at least their advertising concepts are decent (the implementations are a different story). This Microsoft ad was just a bad idea.

WTF......That was their attempt at promoting vista???????????????????????????????????? It has NOTHING to do with Vista. jesus Christ!!.

I mean ****, this is ****ing more informative than that piece of ****!!!

"Is that your toe?"

"No"

"What is it?"

"Leather"

That was pretty good, but overall it leaves a huge taste of WTF?

Perhaps lashings of bizarre will be good for Microsoft. They are trying to change the overall image of Microsoft - not sell 'more copies of Vista' as many of the replies so far have said. Bill said that he's fed up with the Mac V PC ads and this is to counter those.

Maybe over time these zany ads will change our perception of MS, and if it does, then they'll have been a success.

That has got to be the best commercial I've ever seen. Then again, I love Jerry Seinfeld's comedy. In fact, I have tickets to go see his standup in exactly 2 weeks. :D

As far as selling Vista, nah, I don't think it'll help... if anything it'll make Microsoft more "approachable".

Yeah, I liked it quite a bit. I'm not a huge fan of Seinfeld, but I thought the commercial worked really well.

I love how all the anti-MS fanboys have waken up again ..

Sure .. it's kinda a funky ad but it has a different style of humour (a style which isn't populair anymore, it was more prominent in the 90's). Most people don't get the point... it's not about promoting anything.

You'll get more of these ... and then you'll say "ohhhh".

I have 10 times more respect for this commercial then those mindless MacVsPC which are dumb and downright wrong.

Does this promote Vista? No, it doesn't has to do that.

@ MMaster23

I don't know about that, many users only use Windows because it runs their favorite software.

My contention is that most users on Neowin are not fanboys (either way), but know what's funny and what is a confusing / poor attempt at advertising. Advertising something that isn't clear.

If they are advertising Windows then what has Bill Gates at a shoe store buying expensive uncomfortable shoes got to do with selling Windows?!
