Possible Windows Liive Messenger 9 Screenshots!

Recommended Posts

I love the UI! Its just, I find it really absurd to have ads in this already, yahoo messenger for vista doesn't have ads, of course its going to get them, but this early in the beta is absurd. It still has the messenger feel it always had, and its because the ads and the big bold sized ads on the bottom of the window in the IM, they need to mix things up a little bit. The UI is a start for Windows Live Messenger to become different but some stuff needs changed for it to be the best yet. I mean AIM Triton and Yahoo Messenger for Vista both looked completely different from their predessors but this milestone of WLM9 looks like it was built on top of the old versions and that its just another version, the UI is insane but some stuff is still there and needs to be done a different way. The ads and some old MSN stuff needs rebranded and put in other places. They could take all the ads in WLM out and just put in a nice small ad in the contact list window. AIM used to have stocks and all this game ****, all of it disappeared in AIM 6.0, the only stuff left is an ad in the buddy list and a few nice games. I think the WLM team needs to work a little bit harder on WLM9 concerning the ads and the way they take up so much space using there game menus which are all branded MSN still for some reason...

The display picture borders do now indicate a person's status. I think this is a very good feature. Maybe the green will look better for you when you have it on your actual computer, rather than just from a screenshot?

The green color is to saturated compared to the rest IMO. Also, they should definitely change the shadow behind the new mail icon. It kinda looks out of place the way it's looking now.

That looks good. When will WLM9 be released?

The beta phase won't last long, so it's expected to ship in early December :).

I can't wait till they care about the Mac Messenger. Seriously. No video?

That's a whole different division my friend :p.

Have they updated the sounds in the beta? The one thing that grates me is the new message alert - I've had to turn it off.

Not that I can tell, but we'll have to wait and see the final product :).

One thing to remember guys, and I can't stress this enough. These builds and screenshots that are circulating are older builds that date back to March of this year. Development is in full swing, so anything can change :). Keep that in mind. As far as build numbers go, what you're looking at now is M2.

The eye candy, for me, is irrelevant. I need an improved speed so webcam videos are smother and less laggy and run at 30fps or more. You would have thought with Microsoft's cash reserves they could invest a dollar or two in faster/more capacious servers.

i would think that webcam data is p2p and doesn't pass trough any microsoft server at all ;)

Whatever connection it uses, it sucks. I'm on a capable cable line yet I get info bars telling me my connection speed is too slow for webcam. :ermm:

All leaked versions are just beta lol i used to always get the downloaded ones from sites but was no fun as no one else had the same version, so now i wait for offical release plus MSN PLUS gets updated for new msn!

    • Microsoft about to radically change how often your Edge browser updates by Paul Hill Microsoft has just announced that starting with Edge 152, it will be moving to a two-week release cycle for faster, smaller updates. This faster release cadence will begin on August 27. This change comes just several months after Microsoft switched Visual Studio Code to weekly updates. The company said that the Extended Stable releases will remain on an eight-week cycle and that no admin changes are needed to experience the faster release cycle on the Stable channel. The new two-week release cycle will enable the faster delivery of security updates and platform improvements, all while reducing the size and complexity of individual updates. Microsoft claims that organizations will benefit from this change as it offers predictable validation cycles. For organizations that prefer a “more deliberate pace”, the Extended Stable channel remains an option. This change will affect Edge Stable releases on Windows, macOS, Linux, and mobile. The Extended Stable channel will continue to be updated every eight weeks, or every fourth Stable release, for example: versions 152, 156, 160, and 164. The Extended Stable could be a good option for organizations that don’t want the latest updates twice a month and don’t want as much hassle constantly updating browsers. In the case of Visual Studio Code, many of the updates being pushed by Microsoft are AI-related. As we all know, Microsoft Edge has a lot of AI features, so we could see Microsoft pushing more AI, thanks to the faster cycles. On the flip side, quicker releases could mean faster security updates, which is beneficial in a world where AI systems are hunting for software exploits. What do you think? Let us know in the comments. For more updates on Edge, be sure to follow Neowin's coverage. In May alone, we reported on Edge offering in-browser pop-ups to assist users with website compatibility issues, that Edge was losing Copilot Mode, and that Microsoft had fixed a plain-text password bug in Edge. • not yet, because at the moment it is not a threat to MS, if and I mean if it did become a threat to MS Office, then it may be a different thing. MS don't like competition

It emphasizes privacy by blocking trackers, ads, and ensuring your data isn't collected. With Zen Mods, users can enhance their browser experience with various customization options, including features like split views and vertical tabs. The browser is designed for efficiency, providing fast browsing speeds and a lightweight interface. Zen Browser prioritizes user control over the browsing experience, offering a minimal yet powerful alternative to traditional web browsers while keeping your online activity private. Zen Browser’s DRM limitation Zen Browser currently lacks support for DRM-protected content, meaning streaming services like Netflix and HBO Max are inaccessible. This is due to the absence of a Widevine license, which requires significant costs and is financially unfeasible for the developer. Additionally, applying for this license would require Zen to be part of a larger company, similar to Mozilla or Brave. Therefore, DRM-protected media won't be supported in Zen Browser for the foreseeable future.
