How to maximize my internet speed with a simple Netgear Wireless-N?

Got this new netgear rangemax wireless-N Usb 2.0 adapter.

My boss's router is 2 rooms away. My room is like a sub basement room. So up the sunken living room type stairs, pass this room and next room is his. He uses comcast.

So moving closer to his room provides higher speed?

On the speedtest , My download is 313 kb/s

Upload is 59 kb/s

moving closer can help, it also depends on what kind of router he is using, while using a N adapter can help, it can also help if he is using a N router.

He might be using a G router. Guess I gotta get my own dsl connection here.

Doesnt care as long as I pay the bills for it.
