I want to buy 4870X2 now, but....

Recommended Posts

I want to buy the new 4870X2 now, but inno if it will fit in my case, and i dont know if my psu will screw up. I have a 650W and it says exactly 650W required, but inno if thats minimum, also im going to be using the connector adapter. (My specs are in my sig). Should I be worrying? Im also a bit worried about heat although ive got 2 12cm in front, 1 12cm in back, 1 12cm on side, and 1 200cm on top. So i think im ok with cooling for the card.

ati exculded the 4870X2 from my TP3(650W) AKA TruePower Trio, i think im gunna have to settle for the 4870. I just want it to be better than the 9800GTX.

The PSU might be cutting it close and your CPU is going to bottleneck the video card. As for the card's length, it's about 10.5" long. Use some measuring tape to see if you'll have enough space. I have a HD 4850 and it can barely fit in my Antec Nine Hundred gaming case. Also, you have a 19" LCD monitor with a resolution of 1440x900 or 1280x1024. A single HD 4850 or HD 4870 is enough for your gaming needs.

Considering the rest of your build, you won't be anywhere near your PSU limit. However, I agree with bob_c_b.

edit: Cutting it close? How the crap did you come to that conclusion?

Hey, I was just trying to give some reasonable advice. I figured it would be cutting it close since the card sucks 200W (idle) and 400W (load).

Yeah i've decided to just go with the 4870 XOC Black edition. Well as long as your 4850 fits than mine will fit. BTW i'll just take off the middle fan slot snice im not using it. BTW i'm sorry im noob but whats bottlenecking? all i know is that it's bad for one part to be better than other parts. BTW this is for Crysis & future games. I don't want to buy video card for at least 2 years.

Image says "whole PC" ;)

oh good

at least i am sure it will run fine with my psu ;)

i might get one early next year , IF it stay the bigest game in town :woot:

lost interest on Bloomfield platform nothing compiling to upgrade *for me of course* , and the potential early adopter troubles

sorry for thread hijacking

bottlenecking is when one part if your system is holding back the rest of your system

If you can make room for it, then go ahead. Bottlenecking is when one or more of your components slows down a specific component. For instance, coupling a slow CPU with a fast GPU will bottleneck the GPU and make it perform worse than it actually could. In your case, the CPU you have will bottleneck the HD 4870X2 (to a degree). I'm sure the HD 4870X2 will be good for the next 1 and a half years. Remember though, the lifespan for video cards depends on the market. Take a look at how long the GeForce 8 series was around. It was released in 2006 and only succeeded by the GeForce 9 series in 2008.

Well, in this case he's running 1280?1024, he may be bottlenecking by staying at stock speeds...but consider what he would be losing in terms of FPS. 150 to 120? Additionally, G80 was a pretty bad demonstration of that theory...Nvidia was just sitting waiting for ATI. We were supposed to get a new chip at the end of the year but it was just pushed back because they had no real reason to throw out a new generation.

Did you ignore the part about "video cards depends on the market"? It's a perfect example to what I was talking about.:||

Unlike other download managers and accelerators, Internet Download Manager segments downloaded files dynamically during download process, and it reuses available connections without additional connect and login stages to achieve the best possible acceleration performance. Comprehensive error recovery and resume capability will restart broken or interrupted downloads due to lost connections, network problems, computer shutdowns, or unexpected power outages. All popular browsers are supported IDM integrates seamlessly into Google Chrome, FireFox, Microsoft Edge, Opera, Safari, Internet Explorer, Maxthon and all other popular browsers to automatically handle your downloads. You can also drag and drop files, or use Internet Download Manager from command line. The program supports proxy servers, ftp and http protocols, firewalls, redirects, cookies, authorization, MP3 audio and video content processing. IDM includes web site spider and grabber IDM downloads all required files that are specified with filters from web sites, for example all pictures from a web site, or subsets of web sites, or complete web sites for offline browsing. It's possible to schedule multiple grabber projects to run them once at a specified time, stop them at a specified time, or run periodically to synchronize changes. Easy downloading with one click When you click on a download link in a browser, IDM will take over the download and accelerate it. You don't need to do anything special, just browse the Internet as you usually do. IDM will catch your downloads and accelerate them. IDM supports HTTP, FTP, HTTPS and MMS protocols. Changes in Internet Download Manager 6.43 Build 2: Resolved the problem that caused a "403 Forbidden" error when downloading some files Fixed a problem causing IDM download panel not to appear on some websites Fixed a bug that caused a crash when converting some TS files to MP4 Download: Internet Download Manager 6.43 Build 2 | 11.9 MB (Shareware) Links: Internet Download Manager Website | Screenshot Get alerted to all of our Software updates on Twitter at @NeowinSoftware
    • It's in Experimental (26H2). Settings->Windows Update->Windows Insider Program. Then a) select Experimental, b) below that, select "Advanced Options" (where you will see the three options for "Experimental" builds -> select 26H2 (name change from 25H2 is rolling; so might be 25H2)

There will come a day when the US and China will collide like titans ( over Taiwan or anything else ). Then, on that day, some people in this comment section will realize how good an idea it was to become independent in areas like that. ( Or atleast try )
