gigapixels Veteran Posted September 8, 2008 Veteran Share Posted September 8, 2008 I can't think of any specific tracks that have a featured artist, but IIRC I just put "f. <artist>" on the track name so that it takes up as little room as possible. I hate long track names. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/666578-do-you-add-feat-who-ever/#findComment-589755266 Share on other sites

gigapixels Veteran Posted September 8, 2008 Veteran Share Posted September 8, 2008 Oh I never include it in the artist field. That's one thing that bugs me even more than really long track names: an artist's tracks split into several "artists" because of things like that. I just have the artist name as the main artist and the featured one as I said above in the track name. iZoom
Unless its someone that I've never heard of, I usually leave it off, to remain organized. I usually know who the singer is and if I don't, then I shouldn't be hearing that song ;) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/666578-do-you-add-feat-who-ever/#findComment-589756706 Share on other sites

Lqv2015
I have mine all lower case. Who the hell needs to have the correct grammar in music? It saves me more trouble & headaches. Then how about tracks that are 2 artists colaboration? xxxx & yyyyy - zzzzzz. I hate that. Messes up my iPod organizing. IceBreakerG
This is something I'm very very picky about. I absolutely hate having "Feat." in the name. For the ID3 tags, I have it set where the Artist has "only" the original artist, and then for the track name I have: "Song Name (Featuring Whoever) (Remix) (Produced By Producer's Name)" I always put the entire word "(Featuring )" in there after the song title. If the song is a remix, then I'll put "(Remix) after the "(Featuring )" so I know who else is on the song, and at the end of that I put "(Produced By )" so that I know who the producer of the song is. A lot of people don't care about that, but I like knowing as much about the song as possible. And since I pay very close attention to the production aspects of a song, knowing who produced it is important to me as well. alisalem
^ Yeah I do the same. I leave the ft. out of the artist name and put it in the track by adding (ft. Artist 1, Artist 2 & Artist 3)...If it's a remix I add (Remix - ft. ...). golf7
Artist is always just the main artist "Artist" Title is always like this "Title (ft. The Other, Artists, & You Know)" Prevents multiple artists in ipods and just a good way to tag your music. and name them TrackNumber-Artist-Title Ex) 04-50_cent-still_kill_(ft._akon).mp3 something like that Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/666578-do-you-add-feat-who-ever/#findComment-589756902 Share on other sites
Xero
Only on the track title. I hate how iTunes places it under the Artist label. Very dumb for iPod usage and just plain messy. Blindlabel013
I imagine it's a lot different for the type of music you listen to. With Rap it'll be something like: 50 Cent - |01| - Going to the Club (feat. Your Mom, His Mom, Her Mom and Your Sister). For my collection it's simply one artist all the time, but I still do it the same way. It looks best this way IMO. I think adding featured artist to the artist panel is a waste considering it messes with your organizing as well as sorting. Not to mention, very rarely is a person featured on more than one track of the album. Lqv2015
^^ That's true. But I always seem to want to listen to a song that has such & such on there. For example, Nate Dogg. He doesn't have many albums but he's featured in many rap songs. It'll be nice to know & hear what song he did 10 years ago.
