EA has plan to fix Medal of Honor

Classic franchise has been "bumpy" admits EA boss

The president of EA Games has admitted that Medal of Honor has taken a bit of a kicking from the competition, but said the company has a plan to fix it.

"Medal of Honor? It's been bumpy, no question about it," he told Gamasutra. "We hope to have a different strategy there that allows us to get back and bring that brand to greatness, and I feel confident that we have some good moves underway there."

Further details aren't forthcoming, although gossip at Leipzig suggested that EA LA are going to follow Call of Duty into the modern battlefield. Which is no surprise at all given the massive success of CoD 4 - but what can they do to top it? If you've got any suggestions, leave us a comment or drop us an email.

MoH was definitely one of the first FPS war games I enjoyed, but it was quickly eclipsed by CoD.

Hopefully they do improve it a lot. I would love to see some innovation from somebody in this genre.

For those of you that don't know, or maybe have forgotten. A lot of the guys that started Infinity Ward were the developers of the original Medal of Honor game. Probably why it was one of the last good ones lol.

The only "fix" for the series is to stop making them. WWI and WWII shooters have been done too many times before, and there is nothing new to add to the particular sub-genre.

Did you read the OP? They are going for a more modern approach this time. Worked wonders for CoD.

Yes, the general idea was excellent but didn't work at all in game ... like nothing else did.

I think airbourne was just behind it's time. Had it been released 2 years earlier it would of done terrific, but they were a little late in making it, after everyone was tired of WWII shooters.

I really want to see Medal of Honor look more like COD4. That seems to be the new bench mark for shooters

I don't want MoH to be similar to CoD4, want it to be different otherwise being more like COD would be slightly boring!

Medal of Honor always stood from some bravado WW2 action. Airborne was just way too bland no matter when it was released, plus had too many over the top unrealistic moments, like those nazi doom troopers able to withstand 200 shots - What the hell was that?!?!

^

So true, but I have to say that even though there were some unrealistic moments, I think Airborne was an awesome game, i think ive played it through like 15 times now..

There is actually one part of the WW2 genre that I have yet to see.

or if someone can point me in that direction

a WW2 with a deep...

German storyline.

as in, main character being a part of the SS or something.

now that would be interesting..

Medal of Honor Allied Assault = AWESOME.

I remember the part where you have to enter a Submarine hangar with fake nazi papers, it was intense, what an awesome game.

There's a level which is exactly what you're describing in CoD1... hm.

Anyway, let's wait and see what EA does.
