Radeon 4850 Temps?

Recommended Posts

How much is your Radeon 4850 temperatures (idle/load) in Catalyst control panel?

My idle is 82 ?C (Passive Cooled) I haven't tried on load yet.

WOW. 82 degrees ;/..

I'm just about to buy another pc with that card. I wonder if that is normal for idol :?

...and I hate to think what it is under load

Hmmmmm, I recently bought a 4850 Toxic, it runs at around 40?C Idle, 53?C (highest I've seen it) load.........thats with an antec 900 case and an 80?F (26.6?C) ambient temp.

Granted thats with the Toxic, not the normal version, last reviews I saw put the idle temp around 65?C with stock cooling, somewhere around 80?C load.

Joni, you sure you saw the Toxic review? I did a quick search and didnt find it, most of the reviews for the Toxic I see say it should be around 65-70?C load, 50?C (or lower, cant remember exactly) at idle. Dont see how a toxic would be running at 80?C+ unless it was in a $20 5 year old case.

this may help

Make a profile in catalyst after turning on Overdrive and make sure clock and memory settings are correct.

For Vista

Then go to the following location and open the following file for editing "C:\Users\Your Windows ID\AppData\Local\ATI\ACE\Your CCC Profile.XML. The xml file will have the same name as the Catalyst Profile you saved. right click and hit edit.

For XP

Then go to the following location and open the following file for editing "C:\Documents and Settings\Your Windows ID\Local Settings\Application Data\ATI\ACE\Your CCC Profile.XML. The xml file will have the same name as the Catalyst Profile you saved. right click and hit edit.

Now go down the page until you see the following lines in the XML file ...

<Feature name="FanSpeedAlgorithm_0">

<Property name="FanSpeedAlgorithm" value="Automatic" />

</Feature>

<Feature name="FanSpeedRPMTarget_0">

<Property name="Want" value="0" />

</Feature>

<Feature name="FanSpeedPercentTarget_0">

<Property name="Want" value="23" />

Change the "Property name="FanSpeedAlgorithm" value=" from "Automatic" to "Manual"

Then change "Property name="Want" value=" from "23" to your desired fan speed.

Save the file then reload the Profile you just edited in the CCC.

You will have to select the profile everytime you re-start the computer.

Be sure to also set:

<Feature name="FanSpeedRPMTarget_0">

<Property name="Want" value="0" />
