It looks good however from the ads alone i am not convenced that they really read through the Sherlock Holmes books that well.

It does. Just got back from the screening. I am thoroughly satisfied :D Comedic, atmospheric, brilliantly directed with perfect chemistry between Law and Downey. There are nitpicks albeit small ones but they take nothing away from the total experience. However I do not feel I would watch it again. Not for a while at least not because the movie was bad just because it's not re-watch material. Not for me anyway :)

A 9/10 from me. I urge everyone to go see it.
