Will the XBOX 360 Have Enough Games This Holiday?

Recommended Posts

We saw yesterday how many games the Playstation 3 has to offer this Holiday season and from the looks of the gamers, it will be a great Holiday season for the Playstation 3. Now, we’re going to take a look at Playstation 3’s competition, the XBOX 360.

The XBOX 360 has improved a lot compared to the original XBOX. The support of third party developers has increased and it somehow managed to get what the Playstation 3 has, which is the exclusivity of games. That trend slowly stopped as the Playstation 3 picked up sales all around the world making the exclusive games the XBOX 360 ported to the Playstation 3. It’s a matter of time until the Playstation 3 is back on top with the exclusives. The XBOX 360 is on the lead with the Playstation 3 in a matter of 4,000,000 sales worldwide. The XBOX 360 has been out for almost 3 years while the Playstation 3 has been out for 2 years.

The recent price drop of the XBOX 360 has somehow increased the sales of the system worldwide but not quite enough to overpass the Playstation 3 and Nintendo Wii’s sales. As we all know, the XBOX 360 flopped in Japan but thanks to Namco Bandai’s Tales of Vesperia, the XBOX 360 in Japan is still on life support.

Let’s take a look at what the XBOX 360 has to offer this Holiday season. Will the recent price drop justify the upcoming games the 360 has to offer?

Are you ready for some zombie action?Last Remnantb>

Release Date: 11/20/2008

Publisher: Square-Enix

In ancient times, mysterious artifacts referred to as Remnants were discovered all over the world. People used these objects for their awesome powers — a choice that eventually began to cause a rift in the world’s balance. Equality was replaced by those who ruled and those who were ruled over. War was inevitable. A thousand years later is when this story begins…

There you have it folks, 7 exclusive games to the XBOX 360 but only three are promising; Gears of War 2, Fable II, and Last Remnant. Will it be enough to beat the PS3’s Holiday line up? Don’t forget the weekly arcade games Microsoft has to offer but I don’t think those games counts…

Let us know what you think!

Source: GamersPlatform

Yeah it's a plenty good line up. Throw in the likes of Fallout 3 and a couple of other non exclusive ttiles and everyone is kept happy.

From the sounds of it recent articles I've seen still have GTA4 downloadable content due this year. If I was MS and Rockstar I'd be very tempted to ship a new special edition run of GTA4 to last over XMas and maybe include a free download of the second pack when it's released. Regardless, the DLC could sell a few more copies of GTA4 this XMas if marketed well too (and likely consoles as well).

Yeah I can't wait for Fable 2, more-so than Gears 2. Never completed Gears, had fun with co-op though.

The game I want most this year is LBP, but I'm be ****ing poor this fall with both consoles lineups, can't wait!

XBOX360 has some amazing games coming this fall. I simply cannot wait! Good thing i have been covering some shifts at work in order to pay for these future games.

I think the real question here is "Will the PS3 have enough Games this Holiday and the answer to that is No.

I have personally been saying this since E3, take away the multi platform games, and only look at the exclusives, and at least for me, for the first time ever the PS3 does have the stronger lineup.

I have to agree somewhat, out of all the exclusives I'm looking foward to Little Big Planet, so I do expect to be playing my ps3 more this holiday season.

I was trying to look up some of those game and only found SOCOM and LBP. I know there are probably more, I was just trying to make a list so I could make a comparison list.

Exclusive wise, bigger named titles,

LBP

SOCOM

Wipeout

Resistance 2

Motorstorm 2

Valkyria Chronicles

So in terms of volume, pretty even on the amount of exclusive titles, so it just comes down to what ones you want more!

Both XBLA/PSN will have titles coming out as well

Killzone 2 is Feb09, I still think a few people around this board think its coming in 2008 :p

Thanks for taking care of the list. (Y)

As AB said, it really is just a matter of what type of games you like more. I never liked RTS's, so C&C is out for me, I also do not like RPG's really, or whatever you can call Fable 2, but I am still actually going to rent it, so besides Gears Of War 2 & Left4Dead, my personal tastes are on the Sony side of things. I like and want all of the games listed above by AB except Valkyria Chronicles (I never even heard of it until this thread LOL). And yes, I did forget Killzone 2 is coming out next year so I was counting it.

I make no mistake in saying the 360 has a wider array of genres being released, but the PS3 has more games that appeal to me personally.

Valkyria Chronicles is a strategy RPG, so it's right off your games list anyway :p

Yeah I seen someone else saying KZ2 for a 2008 list on NW like a week or two ago. It's now Feb09, was rumoured to be Nov08 for a while, but the first official date was 2009, then it was pinpointed for Feb.

I think I covered the biggest names above, but I'm sure there will be other titles cropping up that appeal to specific tastes people have on retail disc and PSN/XBLA. I know Flower is this year for PSN, and it's one game I'm really looking forward to trying.

Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm is some PS3 exclusive Naruto game coming this year.

Is there any hyped up XBLA stuff coming out soon? I read about Castle Crashers (?) somewhere, is it out yet?

I think that is what is really important. LBP I think is more hit or miss for me (more the latter), SOCOM/R2 just FPS's so nothing big there, and a couple racing games.

So like you said Dirty, I think I would be more apt to play a deep RPG (Fable 2), another FPS (GoW 2), while waiting to play my Banjo 3 (platformed starved brain :p). At least those and Fallout 3 should keep me busy while waiting for Halo Wars. :p

I think the wide array is just awesome because this fall/winter there really is something for everybody.

Wasn't me

Anyway I think they are pretty even. If I had my PS3 yet, which I don't (probably closer to Xmas now), I'd be looking at Resistence 2, LBP and *maybe* Wipeout. On the 360 I'm keen on Fable, GOW2, Banjo Kazooie and *Maybe* Viva Pinata 2. If I didn't have a PC Fallout would be a 360 buy for the downloadable content but I'll be getting it on PC anyway.

On that note PC's fairly even for me too in that I want Left 4 Dead, Red Alert 3, Crysis Warhead and *maybe* Stalker Clear Sky along with the before mentioned Fallout 3. Doubt my Wii will get any love this Xmas, only game that I'm remotely interested in ATM is Mad World.

my list from now till the end of the year;

- gow 2

- fable 2

- brothers in arms 2

- star wars tfu

- fallout 3

- saint's row 2

and the "maybe"-list:

- left4dead

- banjo

- red alert 3, depending on how it plays on consoles, not a big fan of C&C3 on the 360.

Right now I'm sure I'm going to get Gears of War 2 and Left 4 Dead. I'm kind of "iffy" on Quantum of Solace, Far Cry 2, Red Alert 3 and... some other game that I'm forgetting right now.

Then in early 09 I finally get my F.E.A.R. 2 :)

    • Microsoft releases PowerToys v0.100.1, fixes a bug that made remapped keys misbehave by Ivan Jenic Microsoft just released PowerToys v0.100.1, a patch update that addresses several stability and behavior issues found in v0.100.0. The v0.100.0 patch was a significant update for PowerToys, as it introduced all sorts of new features and additions, such as a rebuilt Shortcut Guide, a Command Palette Extension Gallery, webcam overlay support in ZoomIt, and more. However, the v0.100.0 version also introduced some bugs and stability issues. And now, Microsoft is addressing these issues in the new patch. The most impactful fix in this release perhaps is in Keyboard Manager, where remapped modifier keys were being delivered as system-key events, causing unexpected behavior in apps. The clearest example of this was Alt-to-Backspace remaps, deleting whole words instead of a single character. So, if you thought there was an issue with your keyboard, Microsoft just confirmed that it was PowerToys. Beyond the Keyboard Manager fix, v0.100.1 also addresses several other issues. It fixes a bug with Power Display that was preventing monitors from waking from standby correctly. Additionally, the new update patches Quick Access crashes on launch, and resolves a Shortcut Guide crash that occurred when switching between sidebar sections. Here’s the full changelog: Color Picker Fixed a bug where the main Color Picker window could appear inside the zoomed-in picker view Command Palette Fixed Run history initialization in AOT builds Fixed a bug where the Performance Monitor dock item could show ??? after restart Fixed the Hibernate command using the Sleep icon Limited the "pin to dock" dialog to displays where the dock is enabled Keyboard Manager Fixed modifier keys remapped to non-modifier keys being delivered as system-key events, which caused unexpected behavior in apps such as Alt-to-Backspace deleting whole words Power Display Fixed a bug where selecting On in the monitor power-state control did not wake a monitor from standby Fixed built-in display detection and brightness control on dual-GPU laptops where the internal panel is driven by the discrete GPU PowerToys Run Fixed VS Code Workspaces discovery after VS Code moved recently opened workspace data to shared storage Quick Access Fixed Quick Access flyout crashes caused by unhandled XAML exceptions during launch or page navigation Shortcut Guide Fixed a crash when navigating between Shortcut Guide sidebar sections Fixed number-key rendering in shortcut manifests and added a Postman shortcut manifest Updated bundled shortcut manifests to use the literal number-key token so number keys render correctly across apps ZoomIt Fixed a race condition in audio initialization for ZoomIt video recording You can download PowerToys v0.100.1 from the official GitHub releases page.

    • Grand Theft Auto VI pricing revealed alongside Ultimate Edition and pre-loading details by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Last week, Rockstar revealed Grand Theft Auto VI pre-orders will be starting soon, and just a day ahead of that, now the studio has announced the official pricing for the highly anticipated game. This has been a hotly debated topic among fans and industry veterans for a long time, considering the game is expected to be the biggest entertainment product launch ever. The confirmed pricing for the Grand Theft Auto VI standard edition is $79.99, which Rockstar says gives access to the "single-player experience set in the biggest, most immersive evolution of the series yet." This follows what most of our readers thought would happen with the pricing too. At the same time, a $99.99 Grand Theft Auto VI: Ultimate Edition has been confirmed as well, which lands with "an exclusive collection of premium vehicles, weapons, apparel, and action threaded across all aspects of Jason and Lucia’s story." Pre-ordering will also give fans extra bonuses, including a Vintage Vice City Pack of cosmetic items as well as a free month of GTA+. Head to the official website of the game here to check out all the cosmetic rewards the Ultimate Edition and pre-orders bring. Interestingly, the studio does not mention Grand Theft Auto VI multiplayer at all in today's announcement. Perhaps this will arrive later, following the campaign launch, or the studio is keeping that reveal for a later date. Digital pre-orders for Grand Theft Auto VI will begin on June 25, 2026, at midnight local time across regions for Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. The title is slated to launch on November 19 on those same platforms. Pre-loading for Grand Theft Auto VI will kick off on November 12, giving players a week to get the game ready on their consoles. As for the physical edition, Take-Two has confirmed that this will be available without a disc, with the box only containing a download code inside. This will be purchasable starting November 12, giving players who take this route time to pre-load the title as well.
