Top Gear Aus

They want too much to be Top Gear UK. down to identical chairs. and what is the cartoonist dooing there, he just doesn't fit very well, nd he feels a bit detached from the rest.

The the main host, seriusly, if there's a dictionary entry for "tries to hard" it shoudl be pucture of him. He tries too hard to be funny, and he tries to hard to copy the UK version of his role. and he likes Porche's.........

I'm sure it could pick up,but they need better chemistry, they need more spontanius, everything is so obviusly scripted. and maybe they need to do some things their own way, and not just be Top Gear UK somewhere else with different hosts.

and seriusly, are the effing stupid, what kind of moron drives on snow with "summer" tires. I don't care how big and badass your car is and what kind of all wheel drive it was, on snow/ice you use winter tires.

I like the 2nd guy though, he's a lot more comfortable in his role and managed to appear sponanius and honest, nost just script reading. and he actually is funy and appears like he knows what he's talking about (and he was the only one that didn't spin or slide on the snow:p).

I also didn't really care fortheir track, I think it may be because their cameras are all so low you never see anything of the track, just sideviews of the car.

Also the main hosts stig presentation was lame, REALLY lame.

personally i like Charlie Cox, he has a dry sense of wit, and takes a while to get used to

take this line what he said in one of the MotoGP races last season

"An electrical problem - the piston went through the engine and smashed the spark plug.".. very dry wit, but funny

Watched it on TV last night. It was good. Not as great as the British show, but they are just getting started.

So they need time to settle down to their roles etc.

Being an owner of a RAV4 I watched their road tests with a lot of interest (Y) Toyota.

Although, in the snow test they really should have used the right tyres.

The thing with the Mini and the Shark challenge  Not great. But they tried.

Going to watch next weeks Holden Vs Ford with glee. I neither support Holden or Ford. But let's see what happens.

Now onto the test track. Sorry, it's rubbish. Top Gear Australia Exec's really need to get a proper track designed for testing vehicles.

The Stig. The Aussie version of The Stig seems not to be that great, maybe its Webber under that helmet?! LOL

Overall a good show. Keep up the good work TG Australia.

:D

yeah they need time to find their roles, become comfortable and get a more dynamic flow to their "act". It may happen with time or it may not, depends on how comfortable they are in front of a camera and their own inter personal chemistry

oh and who names a turn the "question mark" ...

Is this a new show? Top Gear UK only works because of the years and years it has been running and how the presenters have come together.

Give it a few seasons and report back :)

Uh huh. Yeah. Australian version of the British Top Gear. I admit I think Charlie Cox and Steve Pizzati are good choices. But I just don't like Warren Brown, not much - not at all.

It's alright, but it has a very long way to go. It had some good moments but it's still quite rough around the edges, but considering it is their first episode gotta cut them some slack there. The next thing to go on the "What where they thinking?" board should be the test track! what was with that? Top Gear UK's test track with designed with the help of Lotus...who helped Top Gear Australia do theirs? a 5 year old? I also found the segments/road test (can you even call it that?) pointless, they never came to a conclusion and were way too short! part of what made Top Gear UK so great was it was fun to watch and you also learnt something too. Still another thing to consider is they have slightly less time in an episode then TGUK, as TGUK is aired on a non-commercial station (I believe?) while TGAU is on a commercial station, so they are losing time to ads (as when TGUK is screened here down under, it's has parts cut out to make room for ads and to keep it within ~1 hour).

Still it does have potential and I think if given a fair chance it could turn out alright. They have till November to prove themselves, as TGUK returns then :p :D while Top Gear UK will always be #1 and I eagerly anticipate season 12, if TGAU can prove itself in the coming month I might make the effort between TGUK episodes to keep watching it [TGAU]

:s I agree that is a silly name. The track really needs some work. Seriously un-motivating track that. <-I abandoned grammar here.

I felt a bit nervous for Charlie Cox, poor man was beading sweat like mad towards the end of the show (during the interview).

Going to hate seeing how they go in that shed *cough* studio, when the midday temperature hits 40 deg C  in the shade.

1) They all seem to be excited about everything, the charm with TGUK was each of the presenters had their favourite brand of car, here they all cream their pants over the same cars.

2) The track is downright pathetic, they set up a few hay bales on a tiny airport taxiway? Whoa ... And the names for some of the corners are just annoying.

3) The jokes are horrible, even audience are struggling to laugh.

My main concerns after watching the show, it has tons of potential though it seems to be Fifth Gear Australia rather than Top Gear.

Oh and their voices does my head in

Watched Episode 3.

Will it make it past Season 1? I hope not.

It's shameful and doesn't even come close to comparing to the original British Top Gear.

So full of moronic comments. Yeah, bunga wunga Maaaite Mercedes Black, not n-iii-ce Maaaite, brakes the size of pizza pans, maaaite.

If I was to say anything about this show is, don't watch it. It comes close to killing the Top Gear name.

Found this quote on CNet Australia

Whoever thought up this monstrous abomination needs to be murdered. Twice. Until they die.

  • 2 weeks later...

well they are slow getting better, well at least two of them, Charlie cox still sucks as bad as in the first episode, apparently he just wants to be Clarkson too much. I'm still not sure the cartoonist was a good choice, but he does get a bit better along with Steve wich is the only guy that is decently good and feel comfortable in the show.

Their jokes need work still though, and they need more big tests/adventures like the UK show. Their reasonabely priced car guests sucks though, and their what where they thinking wall deserves to be on the what where they thinking wall. they need to replace it with a cool list.

Another thing that needs to be on the stupid what where they thinking wall:

circuitmap_large.png

on that note their stig also sucks(seriusly he can't even stay on the track, are they using Hamilton or something :p), and it seems in their eagerness to fill their list they do a bit too much Stig track times in the show.

Also what's with the names of the turns on their tracks, it's such a mish mash, you have stupid stuff like "the Question mark", then reference names like Clarkson, then just plain numbers, and suddenly jut descriptive stuff like "chicane", and then back to alusion names lik bus stop..

    • Mozilla highlights Firefox Nova 2026 redesign and more upcoming features with new roadmap by Sayan Sen Last month Mozilla confirmed that Firefox was set to get a major redesign this year. Dubbed "Project Nova", it can already be tested and will roll out to all users later this year. The idea is to keep the browser competitive in a rapidly evolving internet landscape. As such the revamp focuses on improving privacy, usability, performance, accessibility, and customization. Key privacy features including the built-in VPN, private browsing mode, and Enhanced Tracking Protection, will be more visible and easier to manage, while users will have the option to disable AI features entirely through a dedicated kill switch. Additionally, the redesign promises faster page loading, the return of Compact mode, expanded personalization options, and stronger accessibility support. You can find the full details in the dedicated piece linked above. In a new blog post today the company once again reiterated on Nova and also emphasized other new and upcoming features like the settings revamp that is intended to make it easier for users to understand browser settings. In order to make it simpler for users to keep up with such features Mozilla today is launching Firefox roadmap. Hence enthusiasts and interested users will be able to check out what's cooking and also share feedback about the upcoming additions. Alongside the roadmap announcement, Mozilla also highlighted what's new in Firefox 152. One of the biggest additions is the arrival of Tab Groups on Android. The feature, which has already been helping desktop users organize large numbers of tabs, is now beginning to roll out on mobile. Users will be able to group related tabs together, assign names and colors to them, and return to them later. Mozilla says support for iOS will arrive later this year. Firefox 152 also introduces the aforementioned redesigned Settings experience. The company says the changes are meant to make controls easier to find and help users discover features they may not have previously known about. Existing preferences are not changing, though they are now better organized. Another notable addition is the new Blocked Tracker Widget, which provides a visual overview of Firefox's privacy protections by showing how many trackers have been blocked over time and the types of tracking activity the browser has stopped. Looking ahead, Mozilla revealed several upcoming roadmap features. They include customizable keyboard shortcuts, as well as enhanced PDF editing tools that will allow documents to be split, merged, and reorganized directly within Firefox. The company is also working on bringing Multi-Account Containers into the native Firefox experience thus removing the need for a separate extension. Meanwhile Firefox's built-in VPN is set to expand to mobile devices. Mozilla is also developing AI-powered features like Quick Answers, which can provide concise responses to voice queries, and Smart Window, its optional AI browsing experience that is now available without a waitlist. Finally, a new Power Saving Mode is in the works and will help reduce the impact of resource-heavy tabs on mobile devices in order to extend battery life. The video below summarizes the upcoming changes in an easy to understand format: You can find the announcement blog post here on Mozilla's official website.

    • A group made up of dozens of cybersecurity experts, including several well-known veterans of the industry, published an open letter to the U.S. government asking it to lift the export control order on Anthropic’s Fable and Mythos models. According to the open letter, “this action has taken the best models away from [cybersecurity] defenders” who now can’t use the models to find vulnerabilities and make their software and products more secure. “To pull the best capabilities away from defenders without a good reason when our adversaries are rapidly advancing is dangerous,” read the letter. On Friday, the U.S. government ordered Anthropic to limit the export of Fable and Mythos, citing national security concerns, without explaining the specific reasons behind the order, according to Anthropic. In response, the company suspended access to the models to all users worldwide.     https://techcrunch.com/2026/06/15/cybersecurity-vets-protest-dangerous-us-government-ban-on-anthropics-most-powerful-models/
