Crysis Warhead Ice Level huge fps drop

I was enjoying the game with a solid 40-50 fps until the ice stages started. Right now im getting 6-8 fps, not playable in any way.

I can specify the detail level im playing, such a big difference between the levels... really annoying.

from 50 to 30 i can get, but form 50 to 6?

Try out some custom configs. In most cases it will increase your fps. I for one use CCC 2.x which gave me about 10 fps more.

Same, well I just restarted the game and the FPS went back to normal.

The same problem exists in the original Crysis, but to a higher degree. I haven't noticed a significant drop in performance with my HD 4850, but restarting the level seems to help. If that doesn't work then try updating your video card drivers.

I'm using the CCC cfg's and my drivers are up to date. Any way, although xp gave me the same crappy result, when i added Crysis.exe" -DX9 to my crysis link (in vista) i gained 28 fps :blink:

I don't see any visual difference between 10 and 9, though.

Guess i'm playing with directx 9 from now on. :)

leave all your other settings as they were and turn the particles down, trust me it will work.

The game itself is quite buggy really. They say it's optimized but I call BS. There are times I have to restart my PC to stop it from being "jerky" (even though FPS is constant > 30) .... weird.
