With my Specs, XP or Vista?

yup i did load up lineage 2 which by right isnt very hard on the gpu but it was in fact very laggy jerky bumpy just walking around. i didnt even dare to hit monsters.. seem like i was getting crappy fps..

everything was laggy in vista even right click the fade in and out of the right click menu was laggy. :(

** any idea how to solve the white progress bar for xp? anyone? **

People curious about Windows Vista performance should watch this: https://ms.istreamplanet.com/springboard

I worked with the Springboard team and this video explains in a good way how Vista performs and what to consider when deploying vista.

It does use some ram but 2 gb's will do just fine. Not to worry. I ran Vista Ultimate when I was Beta Testing it on 1gb of ram with no problems.

I am running Vista Ultimate now, and was running it on 1GB of ram just fine.

You really don't need >2GB unless you do graphic work / heavy processing / rendering and such.

Vista needing more than >1GB is quite a urban myth. I recommend 2GB mostly due to the low memory prices.

With the higher prices of DDR3, having more than you actually need is quite pointless.

is that a joke? xD, thats an extremeely high end pc, 2GB ddr3, fancy.

anyone knows if 2GB ddr3 would be faster then 4GB dd2?

edit: saw your post, somethings wrong, it should be running extremely fast, iv'e seen it running blazing on UMPCs, and on computer's with WAYYY Lower specs, your rig is awesome

btw, did you update to SP 1? and what you using

x32 or x64?

when did the world accept Vista as the best OS choice?? have I been under a rock??

Trust me, stick with XP. Service pack 2 (yes, TWO) as SP3 is still having issues with most AMD chips and SOME Intel chips. You could upgrade your RAM to 4 GB and install XP pro x64 (utilizing all 4 gb of RAM) :) !!

There is certainly something wrong, vista has been proven to be as fast as XP in games
