SMELTN
Man, I actually liked "My Own Worst Enemy". (Y) I actually got my wife to start watching Heroes with me because she liked My own worst enemy. I liked it too, only problem I had with it was, I think they jumped into the whole "I can't control when it switches characters" to soon.. I think if they would have left it for maybe the first season where they (the company) was turning him on/off from Henry to Edward it would have been easier to follow and likable. draklin
I never watched Lipstick Jungle but I considered it. Of course that was based on the 2 min i watched and it had Ms Price in her bra and panties. I'd watch almost any POS show if she was like that more often. IceBreakerG
Am I the only one that thinks just about every show on NBC sucks? I used to be a Fox only person (shows like 24, House and Prison Break), but now I'm starting to warm up to CBS (The Unit, just badass, and The Mentalist, very good show). I stopped watching Prison Break, because i got bored with it. I started to lose interest in 24 when the writers strike was going on and they pushed back season 7 to 2009 (I may start getting interested again soon though), but House is just awesome. After looking at the promos for My Own Worst Enemy, I thought it might be decent, but even in the promos it looked confusing as hell, so I never bothered to watch it. Then again, I don't watch anything on NBC anyway, so I guess I wasn't missing anything. I do hate when "good" shows get cancelled in the 1st season though (Fast Lane anyone?). Tech Star
Fox cancels "MadTV" after 14 seasons Fox has canceled late-night sketch comedy veteran "MadTV," one of its longest-running shows. The Saturday-night mainstay's current 14th season will be its last on the network, Fox sources said. However, the show's co-creator, David Salzman, said he plans to shop "MadTV" to cable networks and other outlets. "There's a long list of parties that have called us, including a few very recently, and we're going to start conversations with them very shortly," Salzman said. Fox told Salzman the show had become too expensive considering its time period and ratings. Unlike dramas and comedies that suffer the broadcast ax, however, Salzman believes his show's budget can be scaled back to suit a cable network. "I think we can change it without it really being noticeable," he said. "We've learned over the years how to do things on an efficient basis." Salzman called his show "the only success in the 21-year history of Fox's late night," and he gave credit to the network for giving him enough notice to look for another distributor without interrupting production. In one respect, the timing of the cancellation is fortuitous -- the show's licensing deal with Comedy Central, which airs the show's first 11 seasons in repeats, is set to expire at year's end. Salzman can offer buyers the exclusive rights to air the show's library of content if they pick up the show, or sell the show and its library separately. Salzman also praised competitor "Saturday Night Live," calling the show "the greatest of its type of all time." Still, Salzman noted his show -- which embraces a hip-hop sensibility compared to the NBC program's 1970s rock 'n' roll roots -- has faced an uphill battle for attention. "SNL" is a heavily promoted and a legendary member of the NBC family. On Fox, "MadTV" has been like a distant cousin of the network's other programing, a holdover from the network's mid-1990s brand that, somehow, kept managing to draw an audience and survive despite several management turnovers. Notable cast alumni include Artie Lange, Orlando Jones and Nicole Sullivan. "MadTV" is averaging a 2.6 million viewers this season, while "SNL" pulled 9.8 million during its first six episodes. Of Fox's programing, only "The Simpsons," "Cops" and "America's Most Wanted" have been on the network longer. The show's final Fox episode -- No. 326 -- is scheduled to air in May. "We're proud of what we've accomplished, we're appreciative of what Fox has done and we don't think it should be over yet," Salzman said. News Source: Yahoo! Richard Hammond
Getting sick of all these shows being cancelled, most of the time they dont give the show enough time to actually get fans, cant expect a show to get highest ratings on tv before people have actually gotten into it. I didnt really get into lost till season 2. Another thing is that networks need to come out of the dark ages, a lot of people use DVRs now or buy the content off itunes, no wonder ratings are so low watching live if everyone just records it. Rappy Veteran Posted November 15, 2008 Author Veteran Share Posted November 15, 2008 Pushing Daisies Faces the Chop ABC is considering pulling the plug on its dramedy Pushing Daisies.Bryan Fuller's whimsical show, about a pie-maker with the power to bring the dead back to life, completed filming the 13th episode of its second season this week amid rumours that ABC doesn't plan to make any additional orders. Fuller told The Hollywood Reporter: "Our ABC exec was on the set last night saying they are still swinging in the fight to keep Daisies on the air. Spirits are high and hopeful and everyone here is very proud of our work and this show." A former Heroes staff writer, Fuller has expressed an interest in returning to the NBC drama if Pushing Daisies is jettisoned. Rappy Veteran Posted November 15, 2008 Author Veteran Share Posted November 15, 2008 CBS has greenlit additional episodes of freshman comedies Worst Week and Gary Unmarried.Worst Week, based on a British format, has garnered positive reviews but mediocre ratings in its Monday night slot. The pickup is conservative, adding three episodes to its initial order. Gary Unmarried, which stars Jay Mohr as a recent divorc?, has earned an additional seven episodes on its existing 13-ep order. The network has also asked for a further two scripts. Meanwhile, NBC has added six episodes to Medium's 13-episode order. The show returns to the network for a fifth run at midseason. Definitely, for instance, Monday is a stacked nite for me. Prison Break and Terminator on Fox and Chuck and Heroes on NBC. I can't watch all 4 so I have to record 2 of them. I think the Nielsen ratings are starting to include shows that are DVR'd, but i'm not sure if that will help save any shows. Rappy Veteran Posted November 17, 2008 Author Veteran Share Posted November 17, 2008 Lipstick Jungle Not Canceled...Yet! Despite reports, Brooke Shields says her NBC drama Lipstick Jungle hasn't been scrapped."They thought that because My Own Worst Enemy has been shut down that the same thing had happened to us, and it's not true," she told reporters at Sunday's Kidsfest in NYC. "They're not breaking down the sets," she added. "We?re still working. We still have more to do, so it's erroneously presented that we?ve been canceled, thank God. "Our bosses are saying, 'You?re not canceled, don?t worry. We?re just trying to figure out how to make this make sense.'" Shields said fans have already sent in tubes of lipstick to Jeff Zucker, president & CEO of NBC Universal, to show their support. "It's been insane," she went on. "I think that the public outcry has been crazy, and it's kind of wonderful." Is she optimistic for the show? "I actually am," Shields said. "I mean, we're basically No. 1 if you look at DVR. And you look at all that. So the public is watching it. "The problem that they have is it's not the same day live," she continued. "They just need to figure out how to reconcile advertisers' money because the advertisers don't want you fast forwarding commercials." If the show gets canned, she said she'll be heartbroken. "The family atmosphere and the excitement of being all together and working -- that?s the perk," she said. "I think they would be remiss if they decided not to continue next season." Co-star Kim Raver (who also denied that the show's been canceled) said she would take the cancellation "really hard. "The main thing is that me and Brooke and Lindsay [Price] have such a great time, not to sound corny," she said. She added, "I think on Monday there are emergency meetings as to what's going to go on. But I know the executives are really pushing it and believe in it." Rappy Veteran Posted November 21, 2008 Author Veteran Share Posted November 21, 2008 Pushing Daisies, Eli Stone and Dirty Sexy Money Canceled! Pop, pop, pop go all three sophomore bubbles shows at ABC.Sources tell TVGuide.com that the network has taken a pass on greenlighting any additional episodes of Pushing Daisies, Eli Stone and Dirty Sexy Money, and that all three series will come to an end when this season's 13-episode orders expire. Daisies wrapped production on its 13th episode last week, at which point series creator Bryan Fuller said he was holding out hope that high-ranking advocates for his show would work some magic. Didn't happen. Fuller, though, has said that Ned and Chuck's story, in such a sitch, will continue on in comic-book form. So there's that. Dirty Sexy stars William Baldwin and Seth Gabel told TVGuide.com earlier this week that they were just finishing their own 13th episode, and urged fans to tune in, or see the Darlings cash out. Like the economy, they got caught in a downward spiral. Eli Stone was perhaps the longest shot of the three, not benefiting from the fanatical support that the fantastical Daisies did, nor possessing the sexy sheen of DSM. Is all hope lost for fans of the above? I'm not one to extend false expectations, but an insider from at least one of the aforementioned trio urges me to remind you that as long as new episodes are on the air, there is always that slim chance that improved ratings could ? could ? beckon a white horse to save the day. Rappy Veteran Posted November 21, 2008 Author Veteran Share Posted November 21, 2008 And the award for the most misleading title of the week goes to ... the one that accompanies this story! The CW is actually reviving repeats of Jericho as part of a revamped Sunday night lineup that also includes encores of Everybody Hates Chris, The Drew Carey Show and movies from MGM's contemporary library. The new schedule, which takes effect Nov. 30, shakes down as follows: 5 p.m.: Everybody Hates Chris 5:30 p.m.: The Game 6: p.m.: The Drew Carey Show 6:30 p.m.: The Drew Carey Show 7-8 p.m.: Jericho 8-10 p.m.: Movie As you probably figured out, this means Valentine, Easy Money, and all those other Media Rights Capital shows have been officially axed. They'll have their final airings this Sunday. Yay maybe CW might want to make new episodes of Jericho...ok maybe :p Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/678066-cancelled-tv-shows-20082009/page/10/#findComment-590161490 Share on other sites

d3bruts1d
Yay maybe CW might want to make new episodes of Jericho...ok maybe :p I wish. Sad to see Eli Stone and My Own Worst Enemy go. So far, I don't have a very good track record... everything I enjoy gets the ax, while those I don't ever expect to make it somehow hang in there. So far over the last few years the networks have killed off: - Eli Stone - My Own Worst Enemy - King of the Hill - The Black Donnellys - Jericho - Bionic Woman - Moonlight - The War At Home - Journeyman - Masters Of Horror - Miami Ink - Drive - Firefly - The Dresden Files - The King Of Queens If they kill Chuck, 24, and Prison Break then I'll have lost all faith in the networks.
