Cancelled TV Shows 2008/2009

I wish.

Sad to see Eli Stone and My Own Worst Enemy go. So far, I don't have a very good track record... everything I enjoy gets the ax, while those I don't ever expect to make it somehow hang in there.

So far over the last few years the networks have killed off:

- Eli Stone

- My Own Worst Enemy

- King of the Hill

- The Black Donnellys

- Jericho

- Bionic Woman

- Moonlight

- The War At Home

- Journeyman

- Masters Of Horror

- Miami Ink

- Drive

- Firefly

- The Dresden Files

- The King Of Queens

If they kill Chuck, 24, and Prison Break then I'll have lost all faith in the networks.

All signs are pointing to this being the last season

The list doesn't say anything about CSI being in it's last season, which I thought it was? I mean the original CSI, not New York or Miami. What's going on with this?

It's my fave CSI so I'd like to see more seasons of it.

That is the first I have heard of that to be honest!

Well Grissom/William Petersen is leaving the show soon.. near the middle to the end of this season. Without him I don't think the show would be the same at all. However Laurence Fishburne is going to replace him and he may bring a new interesting aspect to the show.

But I thought I remember reading that he was only going to finish out the season and that it would be it's last.

However I can't find anything that says it's in it's last season so who knows.

Fishburne, an Emmy and Tony winner, will be introduced in the ninth episode of the upcoming 10th season.

I tried to get into it but just couldn't :(

I watched half of the first season, and found it to be dull.

Are you a fan of Tim Burton? I've found that people who like him like the show and those who don't like his work don't like the show.

I like Tim Burton, but couldn't get into this show... maybe if the tones they used were a lot darker, it would have been better. I really didn't like the Dr. Seuss looking scenery.

So wait...upcoming 9th episode of the 10th season? But we're only in the 9th season now..unless my math is wrong? We're going to go an entire year without a lead character? I think someone made a typo in that article.

Yup, CNN's editors didn't catch that, and apparently still haven't updated the article to correct the mistake: http://www.tv.com/csi/19-down-1/episode/12...ep_list;title;8

That's the 9th episode of the 9th season and it clearly states, "When a new murder leads to a connection with an infamous serial killer, Grissom secretly joins the class of well-known criminal pathologist Dr. Raymond Langston (Fishburne), to gain access to the killer and get a crack in the case."

Oh well, at least we all know what's going on.

Cool...since CSI isn't on this week as far as I know, that means 2 more weeks..?

Getting sick of all these shows being cancelled, most of the time they dont give the show enough time to actually get fans, cant expect a show to get highest ratings on tv before people have actually gotten into it. I didnt really get into lost till season 2.

Another thing is that networks need to come out of the dark ages, a lot of people use DVRs now or buy the content off itunes, no wonder ratings are so low watching live if everyone just records it.

This is especially true for shows that appeal to geeks (i.e. Chuck)... :(

NBC ordered 13 episodes of the horror anthology series Fear Itself, but aired only eight of the episodes last summer. Ben Silverman, Co-Chairmen, NBC Entertainment told iF Magazine in late July, ?No we?re not taking it off.? But that is exactly what they did with five episodes shot and unseen?until now.

FEARNet has announced that the epsidoes wil be available on their website and their VOD service.

One of the episodes already available is "Eater," directed by Stuart Gordon (Re-Animator). This installment stars Samantha Moss (Mad Men) as a rookie cop who must spend her first night in the precinct watching over a serial killer, coined "The Eater". When her fellow cops start acting bizarre, she quickly learns that no one is who they seem. This is one of the eight that had aired.

The ratings were lackluster, trailing behind CBS? Swingtown, which is why Silverman admitted the series was on the ?bubble? regarding a second season. Obviously, the bubble burst.

?We?re really happy with the numbers,? Silverman said at the press tour. ?On a relative basis it did better than Studio 60 last year at one-quarter of the cost and that was a big reason we put it on. It was a marketing vehicle for motion picture studios, in the summer, when they?re desperately looking for platforms to reach their consumers and Thursday nights have always been the home of the big movie marketers. That?s why we put that show in there. Also by being produced in Canada, by letting the DVD rights go to our partner, we?re able to get that show at 1/8th the price we pay for a show like Heroes.?

The unseen five include ?Something With Bite?, directed by Ernest Dickerson (Heroes) and written by Max Landis (Masters of Horror); ?Chance?, directed by John Dahl (Joy Ride) and written by Lem Dobbs (The Score), ?The Circle?, written by Johnathon Schaech and Richard Chizmar (Masters of Horror) and based on Lewis Shiner?s short story, directed by Venezuelan director Eduardo Rodriguez (Curandero); ?The Spirit Box?, directed by Rob Schmidt (Wrong Turn) and written by Joe Gangemi (Wind Chill); and ?Echoes?, directed by Rupert Wainwright (Stigmata) and written by Sean Hood (Masters of Horror).

Is Time Being Called for Ugly Betty?

Things are looking pretty gloomy for Ugly Betty.

In a just-announced Thursday night scheduling tweak, ABC is benching Betty beginning March 26 and replacing it with episodes of Samantha Who? and the new Megan Mullally-Cheryl Hines comedy In the Motherhood. The network's release concludes by saying, "Ugly Betty will return to Thursday nights at 8:00 p.m. following the run of In the Motherhood and Samantha Who?"

After crunching the numbers, that puts Betty's return (provided Sam Who/Motherhood don't tank) sometime around (gulp) June -- a.k.a. outside the regular season. Now, granted, Betty hasn't exactly been killing it in the ratings this season, but it's still one of ABC's signature shows. At least I thought it was.

"The Thursday night block is a good opportunity to launch these comedies," counters an ABC spokesperson. "That said, Betty is a solid performer and there is no question that it will definitely be back to complete its season, just without repeats."

Kyle XY Canceled

Which do you guys want first -- the good news or the bad news?

Okay, the good news it is: ABC Family has ordered additional seasons of Greek and Lincoln Heights.

Now the bad news: Kyle XY has been given his walking papers.

Although a rep for the cable net could not be reached for comment, sources confirm to me exclusively that Greek has been renewed for a 20-episode third season. Additionally, Lincoln Heights has been greenlit for a fourth season, although a specific episode count wasn't immediately known.

Meanwhile, Kyle XY's current 10-episode third season -- which debuted on Jan. 12 -- will be its last. I'm guessing the show's dwindling viewership was to blame.

Eulogies on behalf of the Belly Button-less One are currently being accepted in the comments section below.

On the bright side, yay for Greek and that other show I've never seen!

    • This is about the EU given consumers options, Apple is all about not giving options and locking you into its own services, this hurts Apple far more than it hurts the EU market because it makes Apple products look less appealing by Apple refusing to offer its own service because they have to give options to rivals, the end results are consumers might look at alternatives like Android. It's a game Apple can't really win when there are alternatives and Apple will in time change course on this, until then, let Apple hurt themselves in the EU market.
    • Microsoft unveils new Surface Laptop with improved trackpad, Snapdragon X2, and more by Taras Buria Microsoft's new Surface Laptop Ultra generated a lot of buzz earlier this month, but in addition to its most powerful laptop with an NVIDIA chip, Microsoft also has a more affordable laptop lineup, which has been waiting for an update for quite a while. Today, Microsoft announced the eighth-generation Surface Laptop. The new Surface Laptop is powered by the Snapdragon X2 Plus and X2 Elite processors. These chips offer faster CPU performance, up to 58% faster graphics, and 80 TOPS Neural Processing Units (NPUs) for on-device AI processing. Like the previous models, these chips retain their great energy efficiency, and Microsoft says that buyers can expect up to 20 hours of work on a single charge. The laptop is available in two sizes: 13.8-inch and 15-inch. You will have a hard time finding visual differences between the new and previous models, as Microsoft is not taking any major design leaps, except for the new Jade color, which may look familiar to Surface Laptop 5 owners. Other colors include Platinum, Black, and Dune. The 15-inch variant got a higher-resolution display. It is a 3,270 x 2,180 resolution screen with a pixel density of 262 ppi (the 13-inch model has a 201 ppi density) and a maximum brightness of 600 nits SDR and HDR. Unlike the Surface Pro 12th-gen, which is available with optional OLED displays, the Surface Laptop sticks with IPS, a 1,300:1 contrast ratio, a 120Hz refresh rate, and a 3:2 aspect ratio. Another notable change in the Surface Laptop 8 is its trackpad. It now provides haptic feedback when you perform various actions in apps and the operating system. It is a relatively new feature that Microsoft brought to Windows 11 in recent updates, and it is only available on certain devices, such as the Logitech MX Master 4, Surface Slim Pen 2, the upcoming Surface Laptop Ultra, and now the Surface Laptop 8. The new Surface Laptop with the new Surface Pro Like its tablet-shaped sibling, the new Surface Laptop is notably more expensive. It starts at a $1,599 for a 13.8-inch configuration with a 256GB SSD and 16GB of RAM. However, in the US, the base model has double the storage while keeping the same price. Available configurations include up to 64GB of memory and up to 2TB SSD (user-removable PCIe Gen4). The Surface Laptop 8 is now available for purchase on the official Microsoft website.
    • Microsoft announces 12th-gen Surface Pro with Snapdragon X2 processors by Taras Buria So far, 2026 has been rich in Surface announcements. Microsoft started with a fresh lineup of Surface for Business devices powered by Intel's new Core Ultra 300 processors. Then the company revealed the Surface Laptop Ultra, its most powerful laptop with NVIDIA's RTX Spark processor. Now, it is time for new Surface Pro and Surface Laptop models with Qualcomm processors. Microsoft's original Copilot+ PCs with Snapdragon X1 chips debuted in late May 2024. Two years later, Microsoft is finally updating the lineup with new models featuring Snapdragon X2 processors. The 12th-gen Surface Pro continues the well-established formula of Microsoft's flagship tablet, and Microsoft is not even changing colors, as the tablet will be available in three colors: Dune, Black, and Platinum. The most important changes are mostly hidden inside. Microsoft switched from the Snapdragon X1 to the new Snapdragon X2, which promises up to 53% faster graphics performance than the previous generation and up to 15.5 hours of battery life. The built-in NPU is also much more powerful, and it can run at up to 80 TOPS for on-device AI processing. Like before, the new Surface Pro is available with a 13-inch IPS display, and Microsoft is still offering OLED as a separate, more expensive configuration. Speaking of configurations, the Surface Pro will be available with a 10-core Snapdragon X2 Plus or a 12-core Snapdragon X2 Elite. Microsoft expanded the available RAM configurations to 64GB (previously 32GB was the maximum), while storage remains unchanged at 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB of user-replaceable PCIe Gen4 SSDs. The new Surface Pro and the Surface Laptop Other specs remain mostly unchanged. The computer has the same 1440p Windows Hello webcam, two USB4 ports for charging, data, and display output, Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 support, dual speakers, and compatibility with Surface Pro Signature and Flex keyboards. With that said, there is one very important aspect of the Surface Pro that changed significantly, and it is the price. While the previous-gen Surface Pro launched at $999 for the base configuration, in 2026, the entry-level Surface Pro with Snapdragon X2, 16GB of memory, and 256GB will set you back an eye-watering $1,499. To sweeten the pill, Microsoft is running a limited-time promotion where Surface Pro buyers can get a free Surface Pro 13-inch Keyboard. The promo runs from June 16 through June 30. The new Surface Pro is available now on the official Microsoft Store website.
