Its that time of the year, and I'm building a new computer.

I don't like doing the research and I know there are boatloads of neowinians that would be willing to put in their two cents. So, basically I'd like you guys to 'build' a computer for me.

I don't have many restrictions except it SHOULD stay within a reasonable budget(under $2500). I would like to play games at 1920x1200. I occasionally use photoshop. I watch movies ALL the time, and I need something that can convert them efficiently for my phone since I watch a lot of stuff on that. I already have mouse/keyboard/2x24"monitors/DVD-R/Sound/Speakers.

Basically I need you guys to pick the following

Case(NO DOORS. Case doors are a nightmare)

Mobo

CPU

RAM

Video card

Power Supply

Hard Drives

I may have missed something. Thanks for all your help guys! Please provide links to everything, especially RAM since that **** confuses me and I've been out of the computer loop for a few years so I'm really rusty.

I'm not sure that link had any relevance to the subject. I know how to build a computer. I just don't have the time to do the research to get the most bang for my buck. I know there are people on here that have spent countless hours doing just that, and I am pretty sure they wouldn't mind helping me out. I'm looking for specific parts, what processor. There are hundreds. What video card, there are hundreds.

Did I confuse you Gary?

No you did not confuse me. You just want someone here to do all of the leg work for you. It is one thing to ask a question if you have a specific problem but to ask for a complete design including links is kind of ballsy. I can Google all of the parts you need and then you may not like what I like and then we are going back and forth. If I were you, I would put a little effort into it, post what you come up with and then ask if this is a good setup or not. ;)

Thanks sin. I'd like to stay with nVidia if possible, as ATI has been a nightmare for me in the past.

Intel also is the preferred choice for CPU's

lol you know what...I don't blame you if you want to stick with nVidia. ATI has nice hardware but the drivers blow.

Gary, if you aren't up to the task, isn't it much easier just to stay out of the topic?

I have been doing some research. Last I knew like a year ago, the q6600 was the best bang for your buck. Is it STILL the best bang for my buck? I don't know. I'm sure there are people out there that are going to be able to take the idea of putting 2500$ into a computer and making a monster, whereas you don't seem to be able to. Please just avoid the conversation if your going to flame me.

Yes, I'm being lazy with the build. I also don't play with computers for a living. There are people on here that do, and they can come up with a build like this in minutes. I'm a forensic psychologist and I spend most of my time working. I can school you in forensic psychology all day long. So, when you need help in that field you would come to me. INSTEAD of doing all the research yourself.

Seriously, Gary. Your input is counterproductive.

I have heard the same thing about Nvidia Drivers. BTW: Scraggles I was sort of joking with you on that one post. Don't take it seriously. :)

As I posted I was joking with you. And it was not a flame. :) That is why I used the Emticon ;)

Asus I think would be a nice motherboard choice.

Do you need a sound card?

I don't need a soundcard or speakers. I'm just going to use the current sound that I have(audigy 2zs) unless there is something better without being too pricey? I'm currently using logitech z5500s and I might as well keep those. I don't need anything better.

I greatly apologize for the outburst then. I'm sorry.

Oh that's OK, I maybe should have PM'd you at the same time. Seriously with the price of PC's today, you don't really save all that much by building it yourself unless it is for the pure enjoyment of it. Have you looked at any Systemax PC's. They will build them to your specs., and I don't mean like Dell.

WOW You really need to step out of this thread...

First off prebuilts are overpriced.

Second you are getting what you are paying for without knowning whats inside.

DO NOT get a prebuild if you are looking for your bang-for-buck like you stated.

well I went with peters suggestions aside from the DVD drive and case. I might as well reuse those. I also went with raid 0s suggestion and ordered 2 of the 640gb WDs. Whether or not I do raid of not I'm not sure. I've never done it before. Is it hard?

    • Yeah, this is absolutely nothing new and EA have done it before. Burnout Paradise, released in 2008, had dynamic advertising billboards that were updated via the internet and targeted people based on location and what EA knew about them from their profile. It was particularly notable for the fact that the Obama presidential campaign ran ads in the game, in an attempt to reach a younger audience who didn't watch broadcast TV any more. It was by no means the first though. Battlefield 2142 from 2006 had the same thing. In fact, Neowin wrote a story about it back then. https://www.neowin.net/news/ba...-in-game-ads-clarification/
    • This is obviously aimed at the education where Apple has lost so much ground to Chromebooks in the last few years, but unless they come up with a comparable management system for education why would anyone switch back?
    • Here's how we arrived at that claim: Note that this is just Play Store downloads. The app is also available on the Galaxy App Store
    • Google Play states the app had more than 50 million downloads. What other metric do you suggest should be used?
