Streaming Music from PC

Recommended Posts

I installed Windows Media Player 11, everything went fine. I had my Xbox on and Windows Media Player found my Xbox, I allowed it. My xbox however CAN NOT find my Computer.

It tells me "here is your setup code ...." Continue "go to xbox.com/pcsetup".

I am at that screen waiting to press continue and it WILL NOT FIND MY COMPUTER.

I then Installed Zune, again, will not find my computer.

Ive been on Xbox.com and all it said was "Windows XP SP2. Windows Media Center 2005, Windows Media Center 2005 Update 2, and Windows Vista".

I do not understand this? My computer via Windows Media Player and ZUNE finds my Xbox and has been allowed to share, but my Xbox will not find my computer at all. Ive tested the connection to my Computer, No go.

However its been on live, and it works perfectly fine.

I have also found that if I have my xbox on and then turn my PC on, the xbox will not always see my drive. What I always do is turn my PC on 1st. When it is completely started I then turn on my xbox and it works everytime.

The only other problem I have had is related to UPnP (what Rix is talking about) I actually have to use the logon screen or all of my tray icons do not load up, but also it buggered connecting to the xbox. Maybe unrelated to you but just thought I would point that out. BTW...using XP SP3 and WMP11

Cheers

Njjouch: I have tried just going to Music / Video / etc and IT WONT FIND MY Computer. I dont know why!?!

This is your problem:

Rix, SSDP? I dont think i have that service installed but I remember reading about it.

SSDP is needed, you should have it installed unless you removed upnp somehow (i had this problem when i removed it with nlite)

You should have it though it comes with windows xp, it's called Simple Service Discovery Protocol

The whole process is very fidgity though, i find it works better with vista. My laptop gets detected imediatly.

SSDP was install and started. It was my fault really. Althou this process is easy with vista(same as you Rix my laptop got picked up and etc) but the same problem presisted.

It was becuase my DAMN FIREWALL. I have it set to give the "home network" internet acess and not TRUSTED. So forever my network has not been working becuase of 1 setting. I thought i fixed it before.

Dumb me.

But its working now and thanks guys XD.

    • This 4K webcam from Acer is now only $59.99 by Taras Buria Those looking for an affordable, high-resolution webcam from a reputable manufacturer can check out the latest deal from Acer, which puts its 4K webcam at a solid price. Thanks to a 14% discount, you can buy this all-metal 4K webcam from Acer for just $59.99. Despite the affordable price tag, the webcam has a pretty large 1/2" CMOS sensor manufactured by Sony. Apart from its size, it supports additional conveniences, such as high dynamic range and phase-detection autofocus (PDAF). Plus, the camera ensures you do not have to buy additional audio equipment, as it comes with two built-in high-sensitivity microphones, a built-in background noise filter, and the ability to pick up your voice from up to 2.5 meters away. Acer is not cheaping out on materials, and the webcam is enclosed in a more premium metal case, which is also good at heat dissipation (high-resolution cameras can get quite hot). And to make sure no one is peeping at you when the camera is in use, there is a magnetic cover also made of metal. Additional conveniences include an LED status indicator and a built-in mount that lets you place a camera on a tripod.
