The Simpsons Season 20 Discussion

Ok, after watching the new opening a few times it's much better than I thought it would be. I was afraid they would completely ruin it, but still there are quite a few problems. The most glaring thing I think is how poor the animation is compared to the older hand drawn opening. The best example is when Maggie gets put in the grocery bag. Compared to the old opening Marge is now a lifeless robot. There is no more look of concern, just a dull blank stare while she stands completely stiff. She looks over to the shopping cart in a very mechanical way and when Maggie pops out of the bag her smile appears in literally a single frame. When Maggie shakes her fist at the other baby it's obviously a looping animation. Watch both openings together, the new animation is really stiff and lifeless.

I didn't like Otto eating the rod, that didn't make any sense. The Statue scene was too long and unnecessary (besides it was Bart who cut the head off). Grandpa suddenly appears in the car with Marge and Maggie even though they are clearly the only two in the car a few frames earlier. Finally I really don't like Homer getting hit by the car and knocked through the wall, leaving the silly cartoon outline. It was much funnier and more believable when he simply ran from it into the house. Have the writers lost all sense of subtlety? I loved the Moleman scene though, and the loud clang as Marge drove over the manhole cover.

As for the episode itself, I was hoping for something better for their first HD outing. Another flashback episode?? At least they got the timeline right again as Homer's high school days are shown taking place in the late 60's or early 70s instead of that ridiculous 90s Show crap they came up with. Maybe even they realized what a mistake that whole episode was. Overall though it was pretty forgettable. The whole show felt like it only lasted ten minutes.

I am amazed at how this show has evolved and adapted through the years.

Yeah It looked amazing, I still don't want to see it tho the story's are getting a bit stretched now.

The Simpsons Renewed and Breaks Another Milestone!

Fox has renewed The Simpsons for two more historic and satiric seasons, bringing its overall total to a record-breaking 22.

Sorry, Gunsmoke.

The network has requested 44 more episodes, bringing the four-fingered family's total to a whopping 493.

However, while the renewal means The Simpsons has topped Gunsmoke's 20-year run as the longest running prime time entertainment series, Springfield's finest have a way to go before besting the western's episode count. Gunsmoke played for an astonishing 635 episodes.

To mark their longevity, Matt Groening & Co. last month launched "Best. 20 Years. Ever.," a yearlong celebration leading up to Jan. 14, 2010, the two-decade anniversary of the 'toon's debut.

    • Exactly. They won't go 100 because current gen consoles are simply too old for any groundbreaking graphics or gaming experience otherwise. They will go with standard (console) price 70 or go with 80 if they really want to go premium. Of course they will have more expensive options too with some useless cosmetics as always.
    • Doesn’t surprise me at all. God is light & He gave us life so it sounds almost logical that we would therefore emit a certain amount of light.
    • This is what I want. Hey Gemini, how do I remove you from all my google products permanently?
    • I would never install install this build before rtm process. only 3 months to go. never install on your daily devices. just wait 3 months.
