[Official] Gears of War 2

Story's much better than the first, IMO... I don't have a problem with the story, personally. I don't see why people consider it bad... just not that in-depth.

By 'in-depth' you mean 'more plot holes than a SAW movie' then I agree! Still epic have been writing **** poor storylines since the first Unreal back in 98'. Why break a tradition? :p

Getting rather frustrated by the MP at the moment. I find my self unable to join public matches on my own because it take 5 mins to matchmake. Then when you do get going your team has the combined IQ a big brother contestant. :(

I've sat for longer and had teammates with the combined IQ of a potato. :(

The lady who wrote a lot of Bioshock wrote Gears of War 2.

Not sure what plot holes you're referring to.

No guests in MP? Seriously? Oh man I was looking forward to that, and swore this time around they said it would work??

And I equate the story to a Holywood Blockbuster. Entertaining, but an extremely loose plot, so bad its almost good corny dialog, and everything really is all about the special effects that surround the story. As many may already know though, that is fine by me. I play a game like this, and most all games, to have fun. I consider it a super duper special bonus if I enjoy the story. So no loss for me if it is not the best of stories or told very well.

One thing I would have loved is to at least have the option to load the Campaign from where you last played it with someone on CoOp if they were the host. I started a campaign myself, only got past the very first driving part, then started playing CoOp with Massiveterra. We were in the same place, so I just told him to host. Well we have gotten pretty far into Chapter 2, but it technically only is on his end. In this case it is going to be cool, as we said we will just play it together the next few nights and beat it together, but it would have been cool to have an option for me to load from the latest checkpoint me and him got to and have an option to play from there. Actually can I do this in the SP Campaign lobby?

I just finished the game, maybe 30 minutes ago.

It was a very long, and indepth game to be completely honest. There was a lot of story there, that I wasn't too involved in, I just wanted to shoot people.

A very good game, good AI, and the cinematography is excellent, and very well synced.

Very cool ending, and excellent bosses. I almost got lost in the adventure (if you wanna call it that) and had no idea when I was going onto another Act. I just jumped from Act 3 to Act 5 without knowing it.

Horde mode, is probably one of the coolest things I have seen yet. I await to see COD5 take on it. I have already beat Horde Mode 50 on Casual, and need to see what Insane looks like.

Sounds like I need to jump in with you sometime. I have been extremely busy with school since Friday but I will be going back home this weekend so if anybody is free to help me out, let me know.

Question 'bout the plot.

WTF did those Sires things have to do with anything??? All there were to me, were chainsaw bait.

How is that a hole? It's a question to be answered. It was intentionally set up like that. If you've beat the game, you know they're not really sure what they are. I'm pretty sure they even specifically said that in the story dialogue at one point.

Eh, I really wanna play some Horde, but I'm weary of playing in a pub/pug. I'd much rather play with friends (wink, wink come on people add me to your XBL friends lists! :D)

You need a team that listens too for 35-50. You'd be lucky to get past those with someone who doesn't speak on the team

I see the friendly AI is just as hopeless as in the first game. Carmine is USELESS.

Sometimes but I do have a funny story along those lines. On the stage with the razor hail, after you go out of the building with the garage doors (after the second one goes up) you have to run outside behind the sandbags. Well while I was running there was just a ton of fire coming down on me, so instead of trying to fire back, Dom sat behind the sandbags the whole time. I mean he didn't fire at them even while I was shooting inside the building. :p

    • I missed this when you first posted it, but those are awesome icons! I would normally prefer things to be uniform, but each of those icons seems to fit perfectly for the game! If I may ask though, what was your thought process on which icons are circular - MK makes sense - and which ones should be rectangular or square?
    • What I like about Paint is using it almost exclusively for cropping and resizing images I get elsewhere--it's quick, easy and cheap... I keep it glued to my taskbar, in fact. Also, the clipping tool comes in handy, as well (hit print scrn on the keyboard and it activates immediately.)
    • I still remember it fondly today. It was so cool to work in 64-color Half Bright mode and 4.096-color HAM mode (interlaced) when x86 was still in 4-color CGA or 16-color EGA low res. C= never realized what it had until it was far too late--the failure of C= was the failure of its top management. The C= Amiga was 20 years ahead of its time, I always thought. It didn't hurt that in only 512k of chip memory, the Amiga could preemptively multitask when Apple was still doing gray scale graphics on tiny screens and along with everyone else was doing cooperative multitasking (running more than one app at a time in resident memory, but you could only run one of them at a time--had to manually switch between them.) I had a ball with AREXX scripting running between programs that had AREXX ports so that when you sent other applications data and instructions, those running applications could process the same in real time to output! Memories...
    • I'm not sure about that, but it at least "does" a version of 7.1 that this brand new card doesn't....
